The Island Chronicles Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 So far, Lego has done every child friendly building you see in a city for City sets.......except for a post office! When are we going to see one of those? Quote
Xeldritsie Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 I would have to agree with you, Poodabricks. A post office would definitely be a great idea. Another idea for new LEGO City subthemes would be the Outback. In addition, Outback Police would definitely be a great idea, too. In addition, a car culture subtheme would also be a great idea for LEGO City. In the meantime, enjoy your day. Best regards, Xeldritsie Quote

A grocery store and a school are definitely two steps in the right direction for City. So I kinda see a post office being done in the near future (hopefully next year). Given the devastating outcome of the last specialized unit in 2019, which was Sky Police (and the Elite Police sets from late 2020), I doubt we'll see any special police subthemes anytime soon. But I wouldn't write the Outback subtheme off. I'm hoping they'd also revive arctic. They basically did that on 2020. But I would like to see more car culture related sets in the future. Especially a full out gas station with pumps, a car wash and a repair area. That would be awesome. Quote
The Island Chronicles Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 I hope coast guard returns next year. I've been screaming for them to make a comeback for ages now. Quote
jonwil Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I would prefer something totally new that we haven't seen in City before (or haven't seen in a long time) to themes we get often like Coast Guard. Maybe something like Forrest Rescue (going out and rescuing people lost in the woods, maybe have a plane for the rescuers to find and rescue people from) Or Mountain/Snow Rescue. Quote

jonwil Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I was responding to "bring back Coast Guard" with a "lets do something that's like Coast Guard but different" (it could have many of the same things Coast Guard had like rescue helicopters, ATVs etc but introduce new things as well) Quote

I've been screaming for a towing barge for the Coast Guard subtheme. Despite serving many different purposes in real life, the coast guard in Lego City is about rescuing stranded sailors and the towing barge is still holding true to that. Quote
TeriXeri Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 (edited) I'm hoping for 2023 to be a year that's less focused on Stuntz and Animals , and more focused on basic "town" things again, at least for the winter wave. Construction/Roadworks that's not 4+ would be nice with road plate potential and perhaps a new Road plate expansion pack kit with different street signs (since Xtra doesn't look like it'll come back). If anything, something with excavator, bulldozer, dump truck etc has not been made for a while now, especially outside of 4+. More missions sets would be nice, and could still be a place to introduce animals. A large number of sets look to be retiring at the end of this year. If Great Vehicles are still a "clue" to potential subthemes there's the 2022 Crane, Horse Transporter or Space Ride Amusement truck. As for potential animal hints, there's only the Horse riding/jumping set that's not retiring, the Park and Beach are both going away so unlikely to be subthemes. The Island Chronicles Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 @TeriXeri I agree with that first one. I love how City is being more and more opened to civilian life things. We've even had the honor of receiving a summer town set, known as the grocery store along with a school and another hospital. My hope for 2023 is that we get a post office, a finish line set (similar to the big race day set from Friends and a nod to the Fast Track Finish set from the early 90s), perhaps a recycling center with an actual building this time and maybe an ambulance station - which is something I've never seen in City. jonwil Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I want to see some more medical practitioners in City such as a GP clinic or an optometrist or a dentist. Quote

I've actually been fighting for the medical subtheme to return. Perhaps they can add some medical sets to Police and Fire (which are now one subtheme) and rename it First Responders. TeriXeri Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 (edited) Medical subtheme return? I don't see how 2022 is different from 2018 or 2012. Of course, more regular sets would be nice, so there won't be 1-2 year gaps like 2020-2021 had no hospital sold, and 2020 had only the ski resort. Edited July 27, 2022 by TeriXeri Quote

But medical subtheme return? What does it have to do with that? Sorry I just don't get it. Would you mind explaining from the beginning? Quote

Which sounds like there are no medical sets currently, sorry, the word "return" made me wonder what that meant. If it just means the gap between 2018 and 2022 was pretty long, I understand, because like I said, 2020 and 2021 had no regular medical City sets available as the 2018 hospital retired at the end of 2019. I do think some medical sets should always be part of City, and I think that's what you mean with First Responders. Edited July 27, 2022 by TeriXeri Quote

City has actually being doing well with medical sets. We just don't see them often. The ski patrol from 2019 and the beach patrol buggy from 2021, technically also count as medical sets because of the logo. I personally wish gas stations were given more popularity. Now THAT'S something we can rant about. Quote
TeriXeri Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 (edited) The 2022 medic helicopters are a bit meh, there's a big gap in that larger medical helicopter, no idea why there's no door or winch, just looks weird to me with that big gap where the roof is only 2 studs wide. If LEGO wants to make a rescue helicopter, seperate from hospital colors, maybe a yellow/red copter under the beach rescue logo/scheme, I know the Ski helicopter/vehicle had the colors. Of course Coast Guard could fit a similar role, with a heavier helicopter. Currently, the better rescue Helicopter is the Fire one , which is retiring at the end of this year. 60281: Fire Rescue Helicopter Edited July 27, 2022 by TeriXeri Quote
jonwil Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I think the best looking rescue helicopter they have done in recent times was the 2018 Ambulance Helicopter, mostly because the color scheme of red and yellow looks good. Quote
Lion King Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Not sure if it’s a good place for me to post like this…. Anyways, I kinda wish that Lego would do some gay representative for City. Like… two dads with kids or two moms with a baby at a house / apartment. Quote

jonwil Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 I hope LEGO makes more use of that prosthetic leg part from the Supermarket, that's a great part. Quote

I may not buy that Supermarket set - i have no space for it. So i want that leg piece out of a smaller set. *glaring at B&P* Quote
Lion King Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Ok i saw something really cool today! I think Lego designers should do that. My quesiton - what if a school bus…finds a new purpose? I visited a local zoo and saw a school bus serving as a safari vehcile. The roof, windows, and sliding door are cut off that the school bus does look like a “limo” safari vehcile. It’s quite creative. So I would love to see a safari bus in a zoo set! Quote
