Same here. I may not buy that Supermarket set - i have no space for it. So i want that leg piece out of a smaller set. *glaring at B&P*

I like the supermarket set but it seems rather overpriced. I just want several trolley/shopping cart pieces to build a bigger supermarket.

My quesiton - what if a school bus…finds a new purpose?

I gave a set idea back when the love for  police sets was at its highest. I recommended a school bus chase set (along with a supermarket heist). Two years later, we've gotten some real goodies such as a school and a standalone grocery store - which in my opinion, makes an even better building for heist role-playing.

90s Town Theme Revival Idea: Paradisa

So a theme that I kinda wish Lego would bring back under the City theme is Paradisa. The Paradisa subtheme would be a City-cannon alternative to Friends, but it's for girls who'd rather play with minifgures than race-oriented minidolls. Paradisa, like it did back in the 90s, would focus primarily on women's activity such as entertainment venues, fitness centers or other shops and restaurants. Most of the minifigs in these sets would be women. But the buildings and vehicles involved would be gender neutral. So boys can add them to their towns if they wanted to. Just an idea.

There certainly were some great City (Town) set in the 90's. Sadly, I don't think we'd see another Paradisa released concurrently with the Friends line but it would be good to have some sort of 'Tropical Island' subtheme (would be even better if they brought back some Paradisa style 'beach print' baseplates.

  • Airport - like set 6396, a small passenger plane and airport with a viewing deck, 2 palm trees, airport & airline staff plus minifigures dressed for a tropical vacation (Hawaiian shirts, etc)
  • Water Skiing - a small set with a speedboat, driver and water skier
  • Marina - like set 6543, a couple of small boats and shops (gelateria, cafe, surf shop), fisherman on the jetty
  • Dive Boat - a boat with Scuba instructor and divers with air cylinders (light blue and purple flippers) plus the CMF coloured turtle
  • Luxury Yacht - with a captain and several glamorous and wealthy minifigures
  • Lifeguard station - something very Baywatch like @adwin's [MOC]: Lifeguard's Shack - LEGO Town - Eurobricks Forums and better than the recent City offering - including a new seagull mould without wings spread for variation
  • Beach villa - a remake of 6146 Poolside Paradise with two flash sports cars and a BBQ next to a pool

Me likey! I think the revived Paradisa would do better for the new generation!

Please, please add a City-style giraffe to that theme!!

I hardly buy City anymore, but I wish they didn’t stop doing those “Fun in the…” People Pack sets. I regret not buying the last three that they did in 2018 and 2019 as those sets were all just really awesome civilian packs. I can’t imagine that they sold poorly either so I wonder why stopped doing them?

I would definitely agree with Kermit in regards to the aforementioned ideas that he had for the LEGO City sets.

I would also especially agree with Poodabricks in regards to ideas for a revival of the Paradisa theme. A standalone taxi and limousine set is also a great idea, too.

Additionally, I would also agree with LifeInPlastic in regards to a Tropical Beach subtheme for LEGO City. Now that would also be a great idea to experiment with.

Best regards,

Xeldritsie

I miss the people packs! In 2019, when City was overstuffed with so much police sets, the people packs were one of the few things I looked forward to. The funfair people pack was my favorite.

Thanks! Paradisa would be a good way to be equal in the Lego City theme. I also wouldn't mind if they put the taxi and limo together to make one side. Perhaps it could be a ride share service set thats part of a public transit subtheme or something. I know they probably won't happen, but we can always dream.

Hey, I haven’t thought about a limo. It would be very cool to see it in a lego world. I need some flithy, rich actor minifigures to ride in that limo!

I know it would cost at least 40 USD. But.... I wonder if they could do a Hummer-like limo set. All they have to do is take the 4x4 from this year's horse trailer set and extended it. Along with make it black.

Exactly. I was thinking about Hummer limo too.

I have no idea how they do with that long vechile with long tile pieces so they won’t be bent in half, s military to the bus, probably?

I have a ew ideas.

Okay, I have been buildings that are very new or modern. So I will ask you, where are the rundown or abandoned buildings that need restoration?

For example, an abandoned play theatre was now restoring back to its former glory with some construction crew.there will be altearntive / extra pieces to replace “old” window with “new” one. Or flipping wall around to reveal  fresh paint.

A restoration subtheme? Never thought of that before. How about an abandoned port authority?

Yeah somehting like that! I never realized that there is no abandoned or rundown buildings in City theme other than ruins in the jungle.

So yeah abandon port sounds good! Or restore the gas station by concerting it into a chic coffee shop? It’s little challenging for the desginers to plan and probalby it would be expsnive if there are moe pieces. :/

I too wish they would bring back the people packs. I bought every single one of them (including the Space people pack) and would buy any others that came out for sure.

The only sign of abandoned buildings that I have seen in City were mostly crooks hideouts and buildings that the fire brigade were putting out fires in.

Police academy was a set I recommended once, but I actually had a people pack in mind. Not a building that has almost 900 pieces. That's even better though. I'm not complaining.

I don't get why people on here seem to like Coast Guard sets so much. I would rather see something new (as we got this year with the farm stuff or last year with all the new animals in the Wildlife Rescue sets) than a repeat of what we have seen many times over (like yet another coast guard boat with yet another big single piece hull). Heck, keep the general idea of "rescue" as a sub-theme and take it somewhere else e.g. Mountain Rescue.

Slow down there bud! We haven't seen coast guard in ages. Coast Guard is a subtheme that we have been fighting for just like we've been wanting farm, arctic and pretty much every subtheme that could give us animals to return. Thankfully Farm made a comeback this year.

Yeah, I would like to see subtheme that includes new animals. It’s always fun to see more new animals since 2020.

Unless Coast Guard subtheme would have new animals, like pelicans, sea lions, seagulls (sitting positions with wings tucke in), whale.

That was my point in response to Jonwil. Technically coast guard is one of those themes that has animals; mainly sea creatures such as sharks, crabs, fish, octopuses and I think I saw a dolpin in one set. Or maybe that was from the DIvers subtheme.

When did the coast guard theme happen? I ask becuase dolphin was introduced in People Pack in 2017. So I don’t recall that it showed up in coast guard set? I know Diviing Yacht set has a sawfish (or swordfish).

And than you for reminding me about octopus. It is LOOOOONG overdue that it needs a new mold after the old octopus has been used for ages as other “old” animals getting new molds, like a new spider mold.
