[LDD Contest] Rococo Château

My dream Rococo inspired Château. A lot of the wall was done at various half-brick offset, that plus the slope in the wall at the top of window level, allowed for the decoration and facade bricks to be inset. But that did create a large challenge when meshing the inside and outside diagonal walls on the two wings of the building. I was especially happy with the curved entry staircase and the fountain.

The center section of the building is the same width as modulars but the depth is greater.

LDD files for the build are available at the bottom of the post. The exterior brick colour is medium lavender and all bricks used in that colour do exist)

Oh my goodness Cara. This is fantastic. I love the decorations, and the technical details are very impressive. I can't quite work out how you have achieved the double skinned diagonals. Great work!

For the diagonals, the inside wall of the room fits perfectly, but the window side I had match up the windows and work towards the ends. This meant I had to hinge the diagonal walls at a slightly greater than 45 degree angle and use a tile snotted on the end to make up that ~1/3 of a brick missing.

Hey Cara!

I personnally never think seeing a rococo entry and all in purple! I think the best little details are by far the windows ornements and the fountain with the gold fish! Well done, this is good competition!

Fantastic work! I am loving the style of this creation. Is the color purple or lavender?

Its medium lavender, because I would like to build it and the brick wall inspired me :) (please excuse the poor photo taken in florescent light, they arent as yellow as this -i'll take one in daylight tomorrow). All the bricks I used are ones available in that colour.

I had a look at the lxf-file, and I must say I find your chateau absolutely beautiful, especially the inside decoration, and of course your sense for colors - splendid work! Concerning techniques, your double walls fascinate me most of all, very well done!

Though the pictures don't make a good impression of the colour, it is truly an amazing building. The details on both the outside as well as the inside are stunning. This is one of these LDD projects that just screams out to be brickbuilt. Can't wait to see the result

What program was used to render those pics? Looks cool.

This was all done in LDD, using the ctrl-K to take screen shots and saving the transparent png as a jpg to get the white background.

Here we go! A much better (daylight) picture of the real life medium lavender brick colour. It pretty true to the LDD file, the only colour that isn't is how LDD displays yellow. If I could source the bricks I'ld use a light yellow.

If I build it, it will be later in the year. I would source most of the whites secondhand locally over time and hopefully only bricklink some of the ornamentation. Oh, and I don't own those expensive cypress trees
