BadLeo Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) The creation costing me 52 man hrs to build. I guess the core using around 45,000 bricks, but the skin was unable to count, since too many plates used. Goto the album on Facbook Edited May 7, 2015 by BadLeo Quote

sithewok Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 That is awesome! What a cool creation - well-done! I love the display with the minifigures standing on it as well. Quote
billyneon Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 This is a staggering piece of work - beautiful, and technically impressive. Quote
Only Sinner Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 It makes me very happy to see UNESCO and LEGO working together to promote world peace. The global leadership needs only to follow suit. This is a fantastic model, and I think you are very lucky to be involved in such a beautiful project. Quote
Legogal Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Ditto what Only Sinner said! What a marvelous build of Planet Earth! The minifigs being placed on top by the folks at the ceremony is really a nice touch. And all the white structures from all over are simply amazing! This must weigh a ton...how did you manage to lift and move it around HK? Did you have to manage stairs with it? I remember how steep the mountains are around there; we could barely walk up them. Where did the Earth go after the December meeting? Quote
BadLeo Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 Thanks ALL When I design how to build it, I made two half of big sphere and then do mosaic on it to avoid building the sphere and the world map at the same time, because that would unable to undo any mistake. And Legogal correct, it is weight a ton, so it must separate upper and lower halves to transport. It is at our workshop now, and it may show again at HK Ani-Comic-Game show at summer Quote
Legogal Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 The photos are outstanding, too! Nice logo as well. Glad you are keeping it built and planning to show it again. Wow! The details of your planet are just fascinating, especially to those of us who enjoy maps and geography. Thanks for sharing this! There must be a story behind Bad Leo? Quote
Aredhel Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Wow, that is really impressive! All the detail of the oceans etc is really amazing. Thank you very much for sharing! Quote

Milan Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Wow. First I thought you used six plate-built sections, but then I saw it was made with bricks, Lots of work gone into this! Quote
Csacsa234 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 That is Outstanding! All the attention to detail and the building technique with the layering , it is a real masterpiece, congratulations! Quote
emilstorm Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Wow, that's a lot of bricks! It's as tall as my daughter when she was born :) anyway, great work, I know how hard it is to make something round like that, I don't have the patience for it. Good work, it certainly looks like the subject:) Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 This is an outstanding creation! Keep up the great work! Quote
Legogal Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Your Dad must have been really proud of your building skills! It is great that he was able to see much of what you have built. Sometimes we do things to honor parents after they have passed. I just finished visiting all six Legoland Parks in honor of my mom, who passed away a year ago. Please keep up the wonderful builds. It is very inspiring to see what you have done. Quote
WhiteFang Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 BadLeo, good to see you dropping by to share your massive MOC! It is definitely those kind of model builders level where it is best suited for LEGOLAND Theme Parks! Quote
BadLeo Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Sorry for pushing old post, but broken photo fixed. Quote
Gremer Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Fantastic! This makes me curious; if the Earth was mini-fig scale, how big would it be? Quote
NathanR Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) I love that globe! This makes me curious; if the Earth was mini-fig scale, how big would it be? Well, let's do a simple calculation. A minifigure is 4cm tall, the average man is 2m (200cm) tall, so the minifgure is 4/200 = 0.02 times the height of the man. The earth is 12742km across, but the minifigure world is therefore 12742*0.02 = 254.84km Lets call that 255km. A quick google search for planet sizes turns up this: http://nssdc.gsfc.na...tary/factsheet/ and shows that our minifigure earth is actually smaller than even Pluto! Looking for smaller objects: http://en.wikipedia....objects_by_size and noting that the minifigure earth has a radius of about 128 km, which has a closest match to something like Hyperion, the 7th moon of Saturn: http://en.wikipedia....Hyperion_(moon) Now there's just one thing left - if the earth really was shrunk and inhabited by Lego minigures... would they have miniaturised Lego to play with?
