jorgeopesi Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) First I don't have any idea of those machines. I thought this mechanism but I don't know if it is correct. I know I need lighter strings and more weight on the bucket at this moment I'm using 2 strings one for the bucket and one for the extension arm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jLxEZJ4deI&feature=youtu.be Edited April 20, 2014 by jorgeopesi Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 You will need one more string for the bucket tilting. You should build a simple stand to keep it stationary while you test string motions. Your video shows the difficulty with doing this if you dont have a steady base. Hard to see whats in tension or not. Quote
theozboy Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) That looks pretty much spot on, quite often a rack and pinion is used to move the bucket arm in and out. Also in a rope excavator like that one they have a rope operated bottom dump bucket too. Edited April 21, 2014 by theozboy Quote
jorgeopesi Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 I know there are some that work with pinion and rack but I want to build it as small as possible and the string mechanism is the only way I know at the moment. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) I think fail, first I have to do a functional bucket as small as possible and then the machine in proportion, but we still learning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4m15BoXKJgY&feature=youtu.be Edited June 2, 2014 by jorgeopesi Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 Less work to do it works fine. I will have problems with the bucket door, it is easy to open but less easy to close... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4m15BoXKJgY&feature=youtu.be'>http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJXKqUL5JIQ&feature=youtu.be Quote
