May 22, 200717 yr Great review! I only wish that it came with a tow truck like the older gas stations did. Oh well. and yes, i think we all wish gas prices were that cheap! I don't, hooray for public transport! I don't think I'll be getting this, first of all it's waaaay to much a copy of the original octan station (which I own) . Secondly I already own three lego gas stations and not a single train station, so I think i'll be getting that.
May 27, 200717 yr Wow, awesome! Thanks *yoda* ! All these reviews you're doing, makes me want to stray away from the Castle line! But I can't let that happen... *skull*
May 28, 200717 yr thx for the review really ^^ a bit disappointed with this set to be honest.... the car wash part is fine..... but everything else is soso why would a petrol station hv roofs that can open? u hv those in Europe? i hv never seen one in Asia or Down Under Edit by *yoda* : tks for stopping to quote the entire post ;-) Edited May 28, 200717 yr by xwingyoda
May 28, 200717 yr I dont think the roofs are "meant" to open, I think it's just the part they used. I think they were going for a transparent glass roof look and the easiest way to do that is with those pieces, which means they can be opened.
May 28, 200717 yr jngunsw, please stop quoting the whole review! It's annoying, hard to read, and it might slow down some computers.. And you did this in the Cement mixer review too! Nobody likes scrolling down for half a minute to read the newest post. :-| EDIT: You did it in the Garbage truck review, too.. :-| Chamber, here we come.. X-D

Nobody likes scrolling down for half a minute to read the newest post. :-| I totally concur ;-) Please refrain frm doing that - I shall edit it again ;-) Back on topic: I don't think the roof mirrors are suppose to be open though. In France our gas station have a solid roof, and not a glass one ;-) *yoda*

How many gas stations do you have down there..? :-P Anyways, I'd rather like those 4 x 6 slopes with glass (darn, I can't find it on BL.. :-| ) used in an earlier Octan station and the Shell station.. I want that brick.. 8-|
May 28, 200717 yr Does the colour of the station's baseplate match the new roads? I just haven't seen it in a layout yet.
May 28, 200717 yr Author Err.. How many gas stations do you have down there..? :-P X-D Hum, I cannot make a simple typo without someone making a stupid remark :-D :-P I really need to reread all what I write then :-P Does the colour of the station's baseplate match the new roads? I am not 100% positive but I would imagine that its a perfect match: both baseplates are in dark bluish grey ;-) *yoda*

In my Leclerc (a French supermarket), the gaz station is made by a metallic structure in Y and between the arms of the Y, there are some glass. It's a really beautifull gaz station (most of the time, they are just practicle, without a touch of architecture).

May 30, 200717 yr Having arrived yesterday and built it yesterday afternoon, I have a couple of notes. Firstly, I think this set is awesome. I love the near perfect ratio of brick-building and large pieces. What I mean is that while there are quite a few large pieces, there are also plenty of other bricks. I really like the way the car wash and the forecourt roof are built, but I feel there could be a little more to the shop. There are a couple of gripes I have with the set. Firstly, I think the rubber band keeping the car wash spinners together should be a little larger or more elastic. It's very difficult to push a car from front to back through it. Also, I feel the glass roof over the forecourt could be a little better designed. As they are they are at a slight slope which looks a little weird. Also, the handles at the front are a little weird. I assume they are for the manager to turn the gas flow on and off, but shouldnt they be under lock and key out of sight? The car is very nice but I think it looks a little weird having the back higher than the front. On mine I've removed the 1x2x2 piece making it higher and now it looks slightly better imo. In short: I still this this set is excellent, with a couple of flaws. Overall I think it's one of my favourite builds yet behind Cafe Corner.
May 30, 200717 yr Also, the handles at the front are a little weird. I assume they are for the manager to turn the gas flow on and off, but shouldnt they be under lock and key out of sight? I think those are used when the fuel tanker comes with the refill.. :-P That reminds me.. 8-| We don't have a fuel tanker! :-| I'll bet my Megabloks we'll get it next year.. :-D
May 30, 200717 yr Thanks for the review! This looks like quite a nice gasstation, I like the revolving sign on the roof, the blowers in the carwash and all other small details. The counter looks a bit cheap, not much detail inside of the shop anyway, I liked these details , from set 1254. As for me running off to the shops to buy this: I already own two gasstations, the 6397 and the Shell collection (including the shop in the hyperlink), so maybe, just maybe I'm in for a third one. June 2, 200717 yr Just a small off topic, but here a pic (that I took this morning just for you Eurobrickers!) of the gaz station with a glass roof, which I mention before:

June 4, 200717 yr Author In one of those new city sets review, there was a question regarding the vehicle sizes: I can gladly tell you that both the Garbage Truck and the Cement Mixer can pump gas in that station ;-) Here are new pics for your enjoyment :-P Gas On !! *yoda*
June 5, 200717 yr Nice that something is to scale, for a change.. 8-| Must.. have.. *wub* And you can't deflate the tires :-D May I suggest that you present yourself in the Hello! My name is..-forum? ;-)
