Also a question is how do you promote your project as many places as possible and on as many websites as possible without it seeming like spam? A lot of forum type websites (for good reason too!) don't allow you to directly post regarding your project. So how does someone with very little social media following get the word out there? Food for thought...

We found when promoting our Land Rover (awaiting the results as we speak) that it was just luck where we posted as to what response we got and then sometimes we found people had done articles about it without us knowing which was great. It took quite a lot of time keeping up with social media (we had to set up Twitter and Instagram accounts which was new to us but definitely helped) but we always felt if people are going to take the time to register support, the least we can do is respond / thank them. Now it's out of our hands and we just have to hope for the best! :)

You don't, and by asking that question you are probably one of the good ones. Which also means you'll never beat those with no shame. Social media is a world of immodest self-promotion. The ones who win at this don't care what anyone else thinks, they post, repost, bump and inevitably spam without regard everywhere. You effectively glue your internet connected devices to your hands and eyes while channeling the spirit of the kardashians, narcissism, excessive drive for fame and notoriety through overbearing means and above all never look back. If you have a fully functioning frontal lobe your chances are slim.

The good news is your train is in-line with one of the two dominant trends of people fervently supporting and Ideas almost exclusively selecting anything nostalgic. The whole world has eaten the member berries, for example: old television shows, old movies, old bands, old cars, old spacecraft etc. Member back to the future? So your old train fits right in, just need to add content that requires licensing because 68% of all Lego Ideas sets are based upon existing licenses or intellectual property. Lego rehashed ideas.

End of disenchantment. I supported your project.

@koalayummies thank you! :) I suppose it does always help too if the idea has a large supporting fan base. I wonder too if people follow a herd mentality when it come to projects, like thinking a project may not be worth their time until it's reached a certain number of votes. Maybe the project has to prove itself that way? I have to say I'm not well versed in these things, so all I can really do is update and hope! :)

Looks like a promising project @Elysiumfountain, I hope it gets the votes that it deserves! I'd love to see a Spitfire MkII come out from the Ideas theme. If it were a similar size to the Sopwith Camel that would be fantastic (mainly because I find WW2 and the vehicles used in it so interesting)!

I was scrolling though Flickr user Cole Blaq's Enter The Brick series album (linked below), and I was pondering on just how great this would be as an Ideas project. But in retrospect, how come does it seem that many of these great AFOL builders don't contribute/submit any of their most popular work to Ideas? Are there any determents to submitting projects to Ideas? Though I myself have never submitted anything to Ideas, it seems presumably rather simple, so do many perhaps just don't care to submit their work to Ideas? :shrug_confused:

I think it's because you lose the rights to your project when you submit them.

Well finally, the NF-15B Research Aircraft by Mammalucco has passed the 10K milestone, making this only the fourth project for the Second 2017 Review Stage so far.

So the Women of Nasa set is releasing on December 1st... I wonder if it will turn out to be worth the wait.

Simple: MOCs and sets have different standards. Sets are tailored to a target audience and MOCs reflect the work of a builder, which may or may not appeal to others.

Hi francis, welcome to Eurobricks. Promoting your own project is not the purpose of this thread. It's in the EB guidelines, so I suggest you go over them a second time.

If it's taking a long time, they must be changing a lot, or just waiting for the optimum moment to produce or release the sets.

Honestly, I wonder if this review period will turn out to be worth the wait! :ugh: It feels like forever...

Plot twist... none of the sets are approved!

Or all of them

I seriously want that 1950's Diner to be approved

I wonder if this means they want to do Voltron, but are still trying to negotiate licensing, thus the delay and the deafening silence.  So, I am expecting one of these scenarios:

(1) Voltron gets licensing, and it alone is approved from the round, thus the long wait in an announcement

(2) Voltron gets approved, along with one or more of the other entries.  I too would like to see the Diner (and/or the Tram) make it.  Then it would all be announced after Voltron is resolved.

(3) Neither Voltron nor anything else gets approved, ala your plot twist.  Cue the disappointment on all Brick sites.

Hey I mean I wouldn't mind Voltron but I wouldn't believe it if none of the other projects got approved, especially since there are a lot of viable options this time around, like the tram, or the diner, or even the Iron Giant. (who owns that license btw?)

Warner Bros owns the rights to The Iron Giant.

I've been thinking that the delay with Voltron is related to two rights holders (not just one).  So not only do they have to set up a contract with the Ideas creator, but the US licensor and the Japanese licensor.  I'm wiling to bet all parties are interested, it was just the extra time to involve and extra set of lawyers.

Here's something else to consider, though - Voltron.  Comic Con this week.  Maybe they're delaying the announcement until Comic Con?  Maybe they want to do a reveal or something cool at the end of this week?

Here's a quote from HasanJensen, a moderator on ideas: "I know everyone is greatly anticipating the results. Unfortunately, it's taking us a little longer than we had hoped as there are many amazing models for the LEGO Review Board to evaluate. Please know we're doing our utmost to get the results out as soon as possible! We try to time the 10K Interviews to end around the time we announce review results but sometimes unforeseen roadbumps do challenge us on our intended timeline. I hope for your understanding and patience."

Red Arrow and Voltron all the way for me, think my lad would fight me for a Voltron set too. Must be a tough decision this time though as there are so many good ideas. Owe yes I forgot The Iron Giant, that one has potential too.
