jonwil Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Its entirely possible Winnie the Pooh is next (both are from the same batch so should be the next 2 in line but we don't know which one is first) Quote
RichardGoring Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 I'd settle for the most recent Ideas sets to actually be in stock, rather than more new ones added that will also be out of stock within minutes. But yes, will be great to either of the new upcoming ones. Quote
jonwil Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 The local LEGO store (which I was at yesterday) was full of stock of Ideas sets. Piano. Barracuda Bay. Sesame Street. ISS. Treehouse. Central Perk. Dinosaur Fossils. I think even Steamboat Willie and Flintstones (not sure on those last ones). Quote
MatthewRC Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 According to leaks on Instagram, the Friends (TV series) is expanding to keychains. The LEGO Ideas Central Perk set must've sold successfully. Quote

MatthewRC Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Great news, guys! Take this rumor with a grain of salt, but certain unapproved LEGO Ideas could be getting a second chance via BrickLink! https://www.thebrickfan.com/could-rejected-lego-ideas-projects-be-coming-to-bricklink/ Quote

Even if certain idea was declined for different than IP problem reason, licenses cost a lot and to cover those expanses they have to be sure in good sales that might be not as high as official ideas sets. But getting Snow White's house by Hanwasyellowfirst this way would be awesome to me :) Quote
MAB Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Well, I'm not surprised at all. In fact ... LEGO Ideas Discussion - Page 187 - General LEGO Discussion - Eurobricks Forums I agree it would probably be only non-licensed. However, it would be interesting in how they pick/package them, as the AFOL programme really seemed to stop all employees doing any work except packing. Quote

jonwil Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 I wonder if something like the Aquarium or that retro bowling alley are candidates for a second shot? Quote

The question is how they gonna pick them? What would be the criteria for Bricklink afol sets and are they the same as for actual Lego Ideas sets? Also what branding will they have on boxes - Lego? Well that's interesting and only time will show I guess. Quote

I'm honestly not too sure on that. The Aquarium does feel like a very interesting and unique build, but I'm not sure if that fits with LEGO... Quote

Pretty much in the same way as the AFOL Design program sets looked. Quote

Well that's interesting and only time will show I guess. Last time they did them manually, with staff meant to be doing other stuff drafted in to do the picking. I cannot really see how it is cost effective to do "small but large" runs by manually picking parts (small compared to regular LEGO runs, but still 1000s of sets). Especially now they would be more official LEGO sets, there would be even higher interest in them, so it could be 10000 sets or more of each. Quote

That's not effective so there are 2 obvious options: either sets will be produced just like all other sets on factories or this line is going to be pretty limited and maybe they could hire a bit more staff for this purpose. But the question is - if they're going to produce them on their factories just like all other sets - then what's the point of separate program at all? Can't they just approve it as an Ideas sets? Well a lot of questions but it's really interesting :) UPD: I guess hand picking parts is the only way they can bring more afol sets to life (maybe as a limited addition) because of the lack of production capacities... Well a lot of questions but it's really interesting :) I guess they could do them as sets which do not have to go through the LEGO design process to make sure they fit the LEGO standards and also avoid the instruction design (just supply the stud.io file) which could save them significant staff time. Even so, if they are doing this through BL then I imagine they would need some ground rules for sets that pass through it, such as a basic palette of parts (so no rare or new colour parts), basic minifigure parts only (no prints), limited number of minifigures to parts ratios, and so on. Much like they did for the original AFOL sets. Quote

Agree with the parts palette and redesign thing but I guess instructions is something they will not save on since this is something that can ruin an expression from the product... Anyways only time will show. Quote

My feeling here is that if these are niche products for adults / older kids, designed with stud.io or other software and voted for online, then electronic instructions might be a compromise. If the model is built digitally anyway, then they can be produced relatively easily. They do electronic instructions for some techie sets (robot inventor and so on) so why not for these online vote products (that fail to make it as a "real" set) too? Quote

Tygurah Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 With the scaled-down Sesame Street & Flintstones house lacking minifigures proposed in the submissions, what do you think will be changed in the Winnie the Pooh set? New molds for minifigures are quite obvious, but with how small the set will be, I'm thinking they might cut Rabbit and just give us Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore, who are the most iconic characters. Maybe Christopher Robin? Quote
