Shakar Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Undead mages already exist. They're called Liches. ;-) Shakar Quote
iamded Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Ah, but does the new Castle line include liches? That's what I was meaning. In other news, yusss! Boo-yah! The joust is available in New Zealand now! Woo! (Well, it's on S@H, still havn't seen any in stores yet...) Quote
Shakar Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 No, but you can give to one of the skellies a black cape and a hood and you can make an excellent Lich. ;-) Shakar Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Jay, one question. I got my set today. Does the skeleton mouth entrance actually open for you using the turning mechanism. Mine seems a little tight and gets stuck when I open it. I have to put some weight on the drawbrisge for it to open properly. Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 Jay, one question. I got my set today. Does the skeleton mouth entrance actually open for you using the turning mechanism. Mine seems a little tight and gets stuck when I open it. I have to put some weight on the drawbrisge for it to open properly. That's a good point Brickster. I figured it was just my set had a problem with the mold being off, if I raise it all the way it stops really going down when the bridge is laying flat (when it should be angled down a bit). Another problem I guess...but at least you finally have the wizard! X-D Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 I think the burps lean in just enough to cause some extra friction. Perhaps they will loosten over time. The set is OK. I really like the figs and skeletons. The price seems high for the number of pieces/size of set. Quote
iamded Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Yes, I am still contemplating this set. I plan to get The Final Joust (this along with Skeleton Tower is now available on NZ S@H, meaning it will be in stores too), Crossbow Attack, possibly the Knight's Catapult Defence, and the Skeleton's Prison Carriage. Quote
Corvus Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Hmm, can't beleive I missed this reveiw... Great idea! A skelly or rotten zombie dragon! That would be useful.... maybe there Quote
Minish Man Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Ooo the moment i saw this set i thought :-D The wizard looks MINT! Although I'm not a fan of the huge dragon (I guess more to scale than the old ones, like the new aeroplane hmm), I do like the skellies. The old arms always hung too limply so you couldn't properly position them. Could've done with more at the back, but I could eailly add my own there. 'Room for customization' lol New castle on! *knight* *n* *skull* *y* Quote
Janus Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I picked up the Castle Siege, Catapult, and Crossbow sets already, and I was contemplating this one. Though it is a bit lacking in detail, I think it'll be worth the money. I have plenty of extras from my torn apart Vladek's Dark Fortress to spruce it up a bit! Still have to get the Skeleton Cart and find the Joust sets...this is the best Castle theme in a long time! Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Tks to you I had to buy that beautifull set 8- Quote
natelite Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 With the dwarves mining set, you will get your troll and then you can re-enact that shrek scene! :-P Quote
Vader Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 With the dwarves mining set, you will get your troll and then you can re-enact that shrek scene! :-P :-D X-D Sounds like a good idea to me, i wonder which one of our members will do it first???? :-/ Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I know I'm late to this discussion but I'm in the middle of building this set right now and I've just absolutely fallen in love with the dragon - it is SO cool, super-poseable, I just think it's great. At the moment it's roaring in defiance on my desk and I think I've found a new monster with which to threaten Tabletown. Dr. S. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I have this set, I loved it a lot more than the previous comments have stated. Ignoring the dragon, I love the tower, As I see the "Skull Rock" set as a long tradition in Lego. Trust me, this set IS worth buying! X-D Quote
iamded Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 That is true, this is definitely worth the money. The overall design of it is very good, I like both the towers on the side and the bone cage is awesome. I don't think there's anything wrong with the set, except the pot part of the catapult is a bit loose and kept flying off, but a bit of blu-tack fixed that. Same as the wizard's staff. Although I dislike the dragon, you can easily convert it into a Vikings dragon. :-) Quote
Batbrick Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 iamded that dragon looks awesome! so badass >:-) I'm glad someone else loves this set! I think the really hardcore fans were expecting a badguy castle instead. I agree that there should be a dark wizard fortress, hopefully in a later line. Quote
Shakar Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I got this set a few months ago, and it's my favourite Castle set so far. The tower is a bit empty, but it looks quite impressive. The dragon is better than I thought; I Quote
Asuka Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 (...) I think that it's due to the red lips, they give me a feeling I can't describe properly.(...) The second minifig which got some of the Necromancer's parts is my own character Ruha. Shakar Your Ruha Quote
Shakar Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I quite like him too, but if you take a look at his true form, you see that there's a huge difference between the two forms. So my thought was "well, let's say that he looks a bit fancy because that's just a disguise, and that face is a mask". But I eventually grew bored of that excuse and I began thinking that he didn't look dark enough. I mean, Ruha is a sort of Grim Reaper, a corrupted one who doesn't do his job well. So I thought of giving him a new look. Now he looks like this (I still have limited access to my camera, so don't except pics in a while): Legs: black Hips: black Necromancer printed hips Torso: red Imperial Guard torso Arms: black Hands: red Neckwear: black cape and white epaulettes (give him a powerful look) Head: blank head in trans orange Headgear: black Bat Lord mask (that's his face) Weapon: black umbrella handle+dark bley Skeleton sword = normal Lego scytche from the new Skeletons faction...come on, what better weapon for the Angel of Death? Wait...does that mean that you thought the Ruha I linked to was the new design? Nope, the one I described now is the new version. Sorry if I wasn't clear. On the princess thing.... :-$ Shakar Quote
iamded Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Your character sounds cool, although I myself wouldn't break up the hips/legs, as the patterns on it fit together. Although I haven't seen what it looks like yet... Regarding the Ogel head, I found out something you might find interesting. Bricklink lists the Dark Wizard's head as a regular Ogel head. However, it is not the same head. Take a closer look at the Necromancer's red eye: it is not completely red, it has a white smaller circle in the middle, giving it a "glowing" look. They do that to all the new heads. Even the plain old blank smiley faces have that little twinkle in their eyes. Still, bricklink got it wrong. 8- Quote
Shakar Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I like the small white circles on the eyes. They make them look more...alive. On the Necromancer hips and legs..yes, they do fit. But they can also be used as separate pieces, since the belt printing is a perfectly symmetrical image. Smart move on Lego's part. Shakar Quote
iamded Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 <Goes and gets wizard> Aha, I knew it. Not perfectly asymmetrical. :-P I remember focusing on the great detail of the legs, and the clips where the chains on the legs hang from are different on each side. On the right side of the hips the clip is closer to the center than the one on the other side. Same with the outer clips, the one on the right is slightly closer to the center. Sorry for going on about such a small thing. X-D Quote
Shakar Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Ahh...I can't believe somebody picky like me didn't notice this. X-D Still, probably my favourite printed hips details ever. Great for evil wizards, dark knights and dark lords alike. Shakar Quote
Batbrick Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Yes it can be used for a lot, I was pleased to get this also because it contained a beard, of which I had none at that time :-$ iamded, while I am stalking you, that fig is great! :'-) Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
