I built the dropship in dark bluish grey with the APC in LBG - although Larry Lars' original APC was DBG - so I had to make some substitutions on the APC for parts that were only available in DGB.

Simply perfect...

+ I do not know if anyone already point that out (sorry I did not read posts on this topic) but the only thing I would say is a bit "not right" is the car size compared to minifig - it should be bigger but perhaps that is a price that needed to be payed so you can have that beautiful dropship...? :look:

As a HUGE Aliens fan... absolutely stunning! I would pay pretty much *any* price to buy this... heck, I'd ask for just instructions if it clearly wouldn't bankrupt me trying to Bricklink all those parts from Australia! :(

Amazing work... and those pics in your sig just make me drool, too. Lego Vasquez? Lego HUDSON? Yes please! I know Lego would never license a movie like Aliens, but I wish someone would sell fan-made customs based on the film(s)... it's probably my favourite franchise ever.

Great model. Best drop ship out there.

I thought the tail wings and the missile pod arms looked like problem areas.

My first thought re. support it's got to be technic axels or arms. That's the best way to have structural strength. Forget just basing it on regular brick clutch.

I see the diagonal section. The pressure points I assume are hinge then diagonal arm.

I would prototype a technic based solution for the underlying structure focusing on the hinge section and diagonal support.

Then adjust it for aesthetics.

Easier said than done granted but I'm sure it's possible.

Thanks all. Once again - alot of credit is due to previous dropship models by Babalas Shipyards, 2x4 and Havoc.

Sorry I don't have instructions but it should be fairly easy to copy from the pics on my flickr.

@Paddy: The tailplane & hinge strength are OK. The only issue is with the missile pod arms twisting apart when extended. My favourite solution was this one:

> Somehow angle the bricks so they run diagonally in the same plane as the arm.

> This would be great but I couldn't figure out how to angle the bricks at each end.

Just occurred to me this might be possible using a stack of mixel joints at each end to produce the required angle. Hmm. Would still require alot of sculpting on the sections where the arms overlap and interlock - but may result in an arm strong enough to support itself in the open state.

@Banjo: The custom aliens minifigs are available from Blacktron in this thread:

Just joined Eurobricks and it's my first time seeing your work. Wow-I'm genuinely impressed. I can't imagine how long that must have taken to design and build. Any chance you put instruction anywhere?

Now thats a MOC I could take off into orbit with to nuke the place from orbit ...you know, its the only way to be sure.

Excellent work, always nice to see an Alien MOC.
