OzShan Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) They both look really good. Do you think the free running 8z would now be strong enough to make a compound sprocket with a 24z? You could then build high ratio gear trains on just two axles without resorting to worm gears. Especially now TLG is releasing axles with round portions specifically to reduce friction/wear on idlers. Keep up the good work. Finally got around to sketching it out in LDD. Green gear and shaft is standard, so is red. Orange and yellow are the proposed compound gears (without cross hole) running freely on the shaft. What do you think? Edited June 6, 2014 by OzShan Quote

OzShan Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Yes they work good, but i have forgotten to do this edit: done Sweet, thanks. Is that for a set of three? Just assuming from the photo, it doesn't say one way or the other in the description. Quote
efferman Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) at shapeways you get at every time what the picture shows. in the case of the 24/8 combination you get the thre gears which you see on the picture edit a diff for lego city cars. at the axle it is 5 studs wide, but this can be changed to more or less in different versions, because the axle and the knob gear in the diff are one piece . the main gear of the diff is a 16z , driven by a worm supersmall diff von efferman auf Flickr Edited June 19, 2014 by efferman Quote
