HomerJSimpson Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Time to make a empty lot for my modular town. That's want I'm gonna do- start off with a 48x48 baseplate, then expand with each set. Quote
ManInATopHat Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Hey, I never said the set was bad, there's just a lot of parallels to the WVM. Example include the carousel in the centre of the set, with other stands that sell things or are game stands. Does no one else recognize that? I get the theme is different, but the general plan is almost the same thing. Quote
YavinBase Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 7998 has a sleeper cab. This is a great set with a lot of play potential. Lego gets an A+ on this one. I'm loving the 8 wide semi! Quote
WhiteFang Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 This is an outstanding set and it does give me a good feel of transforming itself to a fun and huge carnival with a carousel feature as the focal attraction. Lots of effort and time has definitely been taken to focus on the playability and integration of the mobility feature like in real life. I enjoy the entire thought process and you ought to watch the video by Jamie to fully appreciate this incredible new set. Kudos to TLG and Jamie for putting this set a reality. I am already looking forward to this set and will love to acquire it as soon as possible. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 (edited) When there was talk of this set, I was all.. MEH. But then came the pictures... Edit: I just watched the video... Edited April 27, 2014 by redtrooper27 Quote
astra Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Jamie Berard has done it again.... The attention to detail is again really good, lots of extra's and playability! *Writing it on my wanted list* Quote
gunm Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 This is pretty cool. So this is the early VIP set next month then? Quote
Colossus Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 It's going to be tough finding room in the budget for this! I love the detail and play features. My focus is Super Heroes, but I warp that idea to include modulars because heroes and villains need a city in which to fight! My daughter's is Friends/Princesses, and my son really enjoys Castle sets. If Classic Space and Pirates are making a comeback as well, then I guess I'm gonna need a 2nd job! Quote

DuckBricks Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 How is this even meant to work? From what I can see the middle bit turns, while the other 4 mini parts turn as well...... If it becomes clearer, The sick face looks.........odd. Do I spy Anakin hair in grey? Yes, it is a bit confusing on how it is supposed to work... We actually got grey Anakin hair with Sensei Garmadon in the MechDragon... Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 When there was talk of this set, I was all.. MEH. But then came the pictures... Edit: I just watched the video... I thought the exact same thing! It does look like an awesome set Quote
Dorayaki Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 It mostly depends on how much content the instructions include to guide FOLs to build therir own machinery amusement parks. If it works, it may be one of the most successful Technic-Creator set ever. Though the machinery part is better than Winter Market last year, however the decoration part is kinda weak, making it look like kids can't wait and get into an underconstruction site . Quote
lostdriveway Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I'm wondering / hoping if it's going to be easy enough to make the ride tilt as well... We will just have to wait and see! Quote

If it works, it may be one of the most successful Technic-Creator set ever. Anything done to foster inspiration for supplementary builds would be excellent. I'm not expecting anything of that sort to be included, but it sure would be a nice touch, especially seeing as I'm already giving thought to how I'm going to expand this set for a more active scene. Yooha Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Can the hit-the-bell thing packed unto the trucks as well? I don't see its place. Quote
Rick Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 Can the hit-the-bell thing packed unto the trucks as well? I don't see its place. Just watch the designer video. Although the way it packs onto the truck isn't very realistic, it does fit. Quote
The Dutch Guy Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Wow, what an incredible set. This is something i want to lay my hands on. An empty lot in my town needs to be created for this on. And just resently i opted the plan to change my town plan. Wouldn't it be great to incorporated this set into it. But the way Lego is producing sets like this and PR i think i am going broke. Quote
LegoSjaak Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I understand the truck has to be 8 wide...but that simply doesn't match the rest of my vehicles, being mostly 6 wide trucks... I know it is not a city-line product, but a fairground-truck being bigger than one of my trains is something i don't like...so i will save my money for the next modular set... It does look nice, but i'm jus not into sets like these.... Quote
Yooha Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 (edited) Just watch the designer video. Although the way it packs onto the truck isn't very realistic, it does fit. Oh! I'd have never thought of that solution. Now that I know where to search it, I see it on the pictures too. And the way the mixer is unfold in 2 seconds is magic! Edited April 28, 2014 by Yooha Quote
melbs Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 (edited) is it really the product? or a lot of people here are simply fans of jamie? don't see these kind of "hype" from other lego designers Edited April 28, 2014 by melbs Quote
lostdriveway Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 For me it's the product! I'm big into circus and carnivals so for me this is awesome! So much potential! I know not everyone is the same so each to their own. Quote
kermit Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 All one needs is to throw in the carousel from the winter village market, the rock minifigure accessory pack and the small sponge bob ride set and you have a full carnival. I can understand others wanting a big scale version like the previous creator carousel, but lets face it this set would pack more playability and fun in this scale as oppose to a bigger version. Plus you get a lot more stuff like the booths and trucks yet still providing the rides. This in my opinion is just fantastic and all we need now is a roller coaster like in the background of the box and a ferris wheel. Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I forget about the glove world set! I know now that there is the WVM and glove world for this, now I need to make some stalls, a gift shop, a baby race car ride, a Ferris wheel(well, it depends if lego ever makes one- I'll stick to the glove world one for a little while.), and I know I want a drop ride and a small roller coaster- but those are my future plans, and this part of the park probably won't be completed 'till 2017. astra Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 (edited) As far as I can tell is that close to the turntable the arms have a wheel which rolls and the movement of that wheel is converted via an axle to the turning motion of the seats. //edit in response to legozebra that is...
