With 10244 revealed and people have completely different opinions about it, what would you like to see as the next set if this theme continues? I have some ideas:

Ferris wheel: a ferris wheel with 8 cars that have seating for 2. There is a cover on each car in white, to keep with the Mixer's white bar color scheme. Each car is red, white and blue. The actual wheel is red, white, and blue. The base has stairs going up to the entrance. Also in the set is a 8 wide truck that can transport the Ferris wheel, whole. The cab is white, but with a sticker on the roof that has "Ferris wheel" in alternating red, white and blue. It is a flat-fronted truck, with seating for two inside, and 2 beds on top of each other. The trailer is white, but can also carry the ticket booth for the Ferris wheel. Also in the set is an ice cream stand that has ice cream and Popsicles. It's whIte and brown. There is also a cotton candy stand that is pink. Finally, there is a green truck similar to the one in 10244 that can fit both the cotton candy and ice cream stand. There is also the same sticker on the top as in 10244, but with a green background.

Tea Cups: the tea cups are pink and white, and can sit 3 each. There are 6 in the set. The base is gray and has 4 sets of stairs, with the columns white. The roof is fabric, and pink and white. This is the biggest of the fairground rides, and as so, come with fewer smaller stuff. There is a fried dough stand, that is brown and medium nougat. There is also a game stall that has a game- it's a ball throw game that you could win a fish by getting the ball in. Finally, there is another game that you have to shoot the runner ducks- and you could win a teddy bear or, ironically, a rubber duck.

What do you think?

I must admit it would be cool if this becomes a sub-theme within the creator expert line, I really like the idea of more trucks in the carnival/funfair theme, all in the same colour scheme,

as you say there is so many side stands which can be added, hook a duck, not to mention the options for a ferris wheel, bumper cars/dodgems, waltzer/tea cups.

I like it

Hold those thoughts; I'm building those things on LDD right now.

EDIT: Is there meant to be a transporter in the second set?

EDIT 2: Actually, the build isn't going as well as I thought it would, so now I'm building some of my own carnival stuff. I will post them here when I'm finished though. Sorry!

I think a sub-theme is certainly possible, although that obviously depends on the popularity of 10244. A carnival experience will certainly limit the scale of each product, though this has the potential to introduce some nice creativity, much in the same way that 10244 packs so much into a few vehicles.

One of the key differences to the 'Grand Carousel' is that the latter was a fixed construction, and there was less focus on playability as the tradition and design of the carousel were the selling points.

But there are many different stalls that I would expect to see in the sideshows; a rifle range (with the rifles and paddles/ducks for targets), coconut shy/skittles and ring toss. Then there are activities that we immediately associate with funfairs in general, such as a 'psychic' tent.

My only reservation is that with this product (and any future ones) being placed under the 'Expert' band of Creator and priced so high, it may not reach as broader audience as the company would like. To me, 10244 seems to have been made an Exclusive purely based on the scale of the model rather than the challenge of the build or the techniques on offer.

In the second set, it's supposed to be more of a permanent ride- because it's so big. What are some of the rides that your making now?

Y'know those big drop rides whereit goes up, then stops, and zooms down quickIy? Well, yeah. One of those.

would love to see a swinging pirate ship

You could do the Pirate Ship, Kamakazi, Whizzer, Octopus, Big Slide, Zipper etc. Basically anything that pops up from the back of a truck!

Growing up in a small country town you get the "show" rolling through once a year so for me it was always a highlight! There's also a good book out there on Carnivals / Shows that travel by rail. Although I think these will be too big for lego rail.

How bout box them legoland rides into sets one by one

It is time for me to impudently advertise my old project.

Of course these are not moveable and based on an old PC game, so it had some limitations.

I started a build (in LDD as well) about a ride that is as moveable as this new set will be. I'll post it as soon as it will be ready, hopefully next week.

Could you provide the name of the book?

Upon further memory it was actually a DVD called "Great American Circus & Show Trains" and part of it follows the James E Strates Carnival train.

Worth a watch if your into that kind of thing or are looking for inspiration. Might have to watch it again actually!

LEGO have already done a ferris wheel:

A swinging pirate ship ride would be great if done right and would be bought by pirate fans, city fans, theme park fans etc.

Or maybe something like a Gravitron or one of the many rides like the Ranger or Rainbow that follow the pattern of having a big pole in the middle, an arm with the center of the arm attached to the pole and then a car or seating point at one end of the arm (the other end usually has some sort of counterweight).

Or for that matter a Zipper would be super-awesome (would need a LOT of technic bits to pull it off though :)

The Fairground Mixer is that a stunning set that I hope it won't be a stand-alone set but that - like with the Winter Toy Shop and the Winter theme - there will follow some Fairground sets in the next years, too! So we would be aible to set up a whole fairground - that would be amazing!

I really like this idea, HomerJSimpson!

For sure a ferris wheel and a candy stall where cotton candy is sold have to be part of a fairground! Plus we need a shooting gallery and a sausage stand.

Like nesquik already described, there is a huge difference between the Grand Carousel and the Fairground Mixer - the first one is only to place somewhere on a cupboard or so and the second one is to play with. So a new carousel would be absolutely necessary. Besides the Grand Carousel was released years ago. And those who didn't buy it at that time (like me) can not afford to buy it completely overpriced somewhere on ebay.

I am very impressed with the Mixer. Like many it seems, watching the video shows that the set is very well designed. At first glance I was not that impressed as the colours were very basic. However, it is refreshing to see more 'civilian' life depicted in a Lego City environment. I would certainly welcome a continuation of this theme...

DODGEMS - I remember somebody once showing a video of some impressive, fully working, Lego fairground-style bumper cars. Does anybody recall this? The set was very well designed and it was a video only (no pics).

CIRCUS - I often associate fairgrounds with the circus. Duplo has provided many circus themed sets over the years. However, I think the main draw to the Mixer is its playability, which a Big Top wouldn't have as there would be few moveable parts, etc. The minifigs would be good though.

GHOST TRAIN - Fairground meets Monster Fighters!

GAMES/FOOD STANDS - The Mixer is obviously an expensive set and I think there will be many here who do not buy it as a result, despite liking the fairground concept. I would appreciate some smaller, more affordable sets. Small rides would be great but individual game stalls or food carts (coconut shy, candyfloss stand) would be ideal.

Thanks for starting this thread. I know it will only build my excitement for the set, as I had in mind to attempt some custom creations to spruce up the scene. Food vendors are a must, but in terms of future additions to a potential series, I'd definitely like to see a bumper cars stadium of sorts and/or the swinging ship some of you mentioned. The shooting gallery idea could be fun too, especially if they were to make it operational in some fashion (either by means of a gear system or Power Functions), but I wouldn't expect them to go that far.

A Tilt-A-Wheel would be neat. I used to ride that every year at the small county fair it was a favorite, along with The Sizzler. Which is very close to the The Mixer if I'm correct.

A swinging ship ride would be very popular I suspect, especially if it was motorizable with PF somehow (although since it doesn't swing 360 that might be hard to pull off)

This is my most eagerly anticipated theme. An amusement park would be the best. Check out my twist and whirl ride I made in my signature.

I have finally got around to uploading a short video of my lego waltzer I built a couple of years ago but I have never posted a link before so hopefully this will work

That is incredible!!!! I absolutely love it.

I attempted to re-create the tilt-a-whirl (link in sig), but after seeing the one above that the platform actually dips and rises, I don't feel nearly as accomplished.

I've always loved these rides when I go to fairs. This would be pretty cool in lego!

EDIT: Thought up more ideas! How about a gravitron? https://www.google.ca/search?q=drop+zone&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=vV2UU_LZDKeZ8gHGpoGQAg&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=899#q=gravitron+ride&tbm=isch
