Hammerhand Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Awesome ship! On closer inspection, I'm very impressed with some of the techniques you've used to make different angles! Attempting things like that would make me insane, I don't have that kind of patience! Great job! Quote
Gabe Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 Fantastic. I, too, would vote for this as best ship in GNAR thus far. Mine won't touch it. Thanks mccoyed, i'm glad you like my build. Excellent job Gabe - as always, the ship is fantastic, the blue and white go very nicely! Great work with the shape as well, and the water & waves add to it! I'd give you a +1 but looks like you've already got plenty! Thanks heaps Kai! Yeah, feels nice to get a few more credits under my belt.. (Gosh i'm so far behind some of the other UoP students now! Better build some more i guess.) Awesome ship! On closer inspection, I'm very impressed with some of the techniques you've used to make different angles! Attempting things like that would make me insane, I don't have that kind of patience! Great job! Thanks again Hammerhand. Yeah, sometimes i wonder what i'm doing too, but i just can't seem to let a build go until i've got it exactly how i want it... ugh, perfectionism. Good thing i'm already insane i guess! Quote
mrcp6d Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 MMmmmm, now THIS is what I have in my head when I think of ships from Kaliphlin. The shaping you achieved is remarkable, the colors and placement are great, and of course--I'm very pleased to see the moving waves! The only thing I don't like here is the use of the log bricks. Why on earth LEGO hasn't come up with some real 'log cabin' bricks is beyond me. They've had tons of opportunities. Quote
MassEditor Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Amazing ship Gabe! Such a unique design and some very intricate techniques. This looks like it'll be hard to beat! Quote

I kinda like the texture on them actually. The parts themselves are not too bad as "log cabin" bricks if you turn them on their side, but really i just see them as another texture brick. Amazing ship Gabe! Such a unique design and some very intricate techniques. This looks like it'll be hard to beat! Thanks for the kind words and encouragement MassEditor! Quote
Torgar Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Wow, great build! I really like the curved look to the entire ship, and the color pallet is very dynamic. Well done! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Magnificent ship, Gabe The colors, shaping, and overall style are fantastic The working waves are the icing on the cake Quote
Gabe Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Thanks fellows for the kind words, glad you like it! Quote

Gabe Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 I even featured her on my blog this morning http://tomsche69.blo...-challenge.html Thankyou very much Tomsche, that's very kind of you! Off-topic, but i couldn't help but notice that on your blog you listed one of your goals as building a Lego Silvermoon city - now there's an architectural challenge! (I have some screenshots of Fairbreeze village in my "moc references" folder, and have been tinkering about with trying to realise those forms for a little while now) Quote
Tomsche Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) Let`s say that after toddling, trashing, crying like a baby and almost tossing my bricks through the window, it`ll be more `in style off` the Sin`dorei ;-) I just can`t get my hands wrapped around the circular builds, but the thing is progressing nicely, just waiting for a BL order atm to finish the structure, then having a look at how to fill up the baseplate It won`t be Silvermoon (or more exactly, the party house in Everwoods), but it`ll be identifiable to WoW Sin`Dorei players... I hope Edited May 1, 2014 by Tomsche Quote

I hope Yeah i know what you mean - it's not only the circular nature of the structures, but also the fact that they are fluted as well that makes things tricky - plus there is all that ornamentation and odd shaped windows and doorways to consider. If you don't mind, i'd love to chat some more about this in PM - i've got some ideas that i'd love to bounce around with you, considering we are working on similar things. Quote
Tomsche Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Don`t mind at all, I might even learn a dozen or two things Quote
