janatale Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 After building for the past few months, I've finally finished the second build for my city "Edervisk.: Edervisk is a unique city made up of several small islands and cliff faces located off the coast of Mitgardia. The Edervisk keep is the main defensive structure of city, and also where the Lord of Edervisk resides. While technically a part of Mitgardia, its distance from the mainland and location in warmer waters makes Edervisk very different than many other Mitgardian cities. The main gate: It's location on the sea makes Edervisk a vibrant trading spot, and people from all over Historica can be found around the city A few convicted felons from the wolf-tribe are being lead to the mainland for their punishment A trading ship departs from the docks The docks. Rasmus waits for a ship to transport the criminals back to the mainland Mitgardia I took this birdeye view and really liked it. It help shows the layout of the Keep: The full album can be found here This took a lot longer than I wanted it too, once I destroy and sort the city, I plan on working on smaller builds to help improve my building skills and participate more in challenges. Of course this probably won't happen until I move to a new house. C&C welcome . Quote
MKJoshA Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Wow! Simply amazing! I love the statues on the round towers, the reverse cheese slope roof (I've used the method myself a few times), all the older minifigs like the ninja and forestmen, the way the boats are sunk in the water, and the perfect amount of texture on all the walls. Incredible! Quote
Jakon Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 A completely solid addition to mitgardia, this is awesome! Quote
Gabe Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Wowzers, this is massive! I love seeing ambition in a build and this is full of ambitious ideas and execution. That main gate is ridiculously huge, it looks so impressive but imagine it would be hard to fit doors onto to keep intruders out! I love the way that all the houses hug the walls and cliffs - looks very much how i see parts of Berigora in my mind. The variety of rooflines that you have going on is top-notch too. And all the little details are so cool - the birds flying about, the sculptor chipping away at the statue, the crowded marketplace. Certianly there are sections that could use a bit more polish or realism, but overall it just works so well. Just out of interest, where exactly is Edervisk located? Quote
kabel Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Wow, I've been waiting for this for a while and man you certainly didn't disapoint. This moc is fantastic, all the activity, all those little elements make it just outstanding. BTW, it'd be cool if you took some more pics of the ships alone and added it to the GNAR contest, as I think it really deserves a little more attention. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Wow! This is amazing! Superb work! Love all the little details! Quote
Gunman Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Lovely MOC my man.... I like that you have your own style in rockwork and walls. Wonderful job! Quote
TheUtilityBelt Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I absolutely love the shack built into the cliff! Keep bricking! Quote
HammerBro Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Wonderful texturing on so many fronts! I really love that its on the water. Quote
mccoyed Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Just stunning. It looks like it might be a nice stopover for the crew of the Hold Fast and I'll keep it in mind, if that's okay, when I finish the ship and write a little story. That larger ship is just great, too. Since I've been shipbuilding for over a week now, I have to admire the cleanness and proportion of it. Favorite part of the build, naturally, but it's all amazing. Quote

Location is a tough question. I originally built another part of the city last year before joining GoH, and since joining, I decided to incorporate it into Historica. If I were to place it anywhere, I would say somewhere off the South-Western coast of Mitgardia, close to Avalonia, near tradewind bay. Wow, I've been waiting for this for a while and man you certainly didn't disapoint. This moc is fantastic, all the activity, all those little elements make it just outstanding. BTW, it'd be cool if you took some more pics of the ships alone and added it to the GNAR contest, as I think it really deserves a little more attention. Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I am considering taking pictures of the ship, though I might modify it to add more real sails and stuff first. Wow! This is amazing! Superb work! Love all the little details! Thank you! Lovely MOC my man.... I like that you have your own style in rockwork and walls. Wonderful job! Thanks! Glad you like the rocks, its one of my favorite things to build. Edervisk is a huge trading spot and people from all over Historica are welcome to visit. Quote
Scaevola Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 (edited) Excellent work! That main gate looks incredible. I might have done something to make the walls look a little less flat, but that's just a minor detraction. I really like the harbor and buildings too. This really makes me want to attempt a round tower/gate  Edited April 28, 2014 by Scaevola Quote
soccerkid6 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Massive build The houses are my favorite parts, especially the ones integrated into the cliffs The numerous figs bring the whole thing to life Great build Quote

This really makes me want to attempt a round tower/gate  Thanks! I wish I could have made some more curves and angles on the walls, but it used so many pieces as it was, I didn't want to make it any bigger to accommodate change in directions. Sigolf Brimabane Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Great as in both large and good. I like the different roof techniques and the statues and all the activity inside the keep. It's cool with water inside! It's a good size too :) I'm not sure if I like the texture on the walls though, the colours make it look odd somehow (but I'm a bit colourblind so maybe I see it differently ;) ) Quote
de Gothia Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Superb work here! I´ve looking on this beauty on my cell phone and I´m glad I see it on the computer right now as well cause you have like a zillion great details in here! Great idea with a city like this! Could be taken from a great american movie!! The houses inside with all the cliffs is just wow! And I still love that crab cage! ;) Quote
-Horizon- Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Great Build, I've never seen a castle in Dark Tan before, and it looks great! Quote
Niku Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 It really stands out, the colours and the details at the entrance are fantastic. The posing of the minifigs is vividly too and its a plus definetely. Quote
DungeonsAndFlagons Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 This is very impressive. I love builds that use civilians and docks. Lots of details. Top stuff man. Quote
Norro Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Great bustling feel, and nice to see a city with unique walls on each side. Look forward to seeing more from you! God Bless, Nathan Quote
