Robianco Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 The problem you'll have with most material is it will fray when you cut it. Custom trench coats in eBay are laser cut which bonds the edges and stops them fraying... Same with capes.
Borex Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Not exactly from the side, but I can vouch that this combo works very well: Thor [VARIANTS] [MCU] [COMICS] [MOD] by agoodfella minifigs, on Flickr Oh and i need to make those yellow boots too :-D Can we expect new waves of superheroes after the chinese new year holidays or will it be star wars again and again? With lego dropping so much good material i am losing my interest in bootlegs and also because they always give us the same characters over and over again. When are we expecting to see star wars mechs?
briksen Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) i already saw one or two "star wart" mechs Edited February 5, 2016 by briksen
Robianco Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Received my Doll 12 figure SW set today. They're fantastic. Aside from the TIE pilot's helmet pipe not touching the torso like the official they're VERY well printed and the moulds are excellent. Ground Crew, Kylo and Hux are particular standouts and are almost indistinguishable from the real thing!
sponge_bob Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Does anyone know how many bootleg superheroes there are with arm printing? I am awareof the recent SY dc set, silver centurion, carnage and arachnid hero

briksen Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 i received my arachnid hero today, he have arm printing

agoodfella77 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Where is the helmet on the right hand side from? Brilliant minifigs by the way, they always seem to be on point! Thanks! The right helmet is from set SY279. One caveat, however, is that I painted it metallic silver. The one from the set comes in a regular blueish grey mold.

Also, do you know where I can find good templates for capes/coats? Thanks.
Robianco Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I actually have access to a laser at my work. What material is best? Also, do you know where I can find good templates for capes/coats? Thanks. I could probably set up a cutting form for you for capes and trench coats. The material used by custom makers is polycotton. Easton on eBay use two layers bonded together which make it stiff although this is a little stiffer than regular Lego. Christo's capes are a little thinner than Lego's so they maybe be single layers of polycotton. If you wanted a cutting form what format would be best? EPS?
pmptstc1 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Awesome! Thanks for the help. I should be able to make a form pretty easily, though. I'm just going to throw a cape and coat in my scanner, and trace it in photoshop.
briksen Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) just buy that Bane: http://www.aliexpres...2598276363.html isn't the easiest way to get your trench coat ? Edited February 6, 2016 by briksen

Kire Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Anybody know what happened to Dargo? I remember this community was excited for the superhero sets they were doing then BOOM now I see no hype around it. What gives? Also what happened with SY and Decool? Are they only focusing on the Star Wars hype in the meantime.

Are they only focusing on the Star Wars hype in the meantime. Dargo cancelled the set that everyone was excited about. The only thing Decool has put out recently was a Star Wars set... some folks were even starting to worry if they were still around. SY has still been trucking along and put out a few superhero sets recently with neat figures like Red Tornado (SY289) and Deathstroke (SY295)
jingram Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 (edited) Finally got the Millenium Falcon. It was missing a bag of small parts (mostly 1x2 modified plates). Assuming you get the full set and aren't missing a bag, it's good. I was able to finish without those pieces (and am digging through my spare parts to replace them). The minifigs are pretty terrible, though. Seller also gave me 2 bogus tracking numbers before getting the real one, and my order was missing three of the five sets I bought. So I'm assuming the missing bag is a seller problem, not manufacturer problem. Edited February 7, 2016 by jingram
Zhagas Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I'm guessing things may be quiet for a bit due to Chinese New Year. (At least that was the case last year around this time.)
