PIGGY Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Not the best edit but... the doll brand Doesnt look too good imo. Edited September 3, 2014 by PIGGY
Robianco Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 They look pretty bad. Lele quality at best. Oddly enough the Martian Manhunter actually looks the best figure. I still can't tell if that Luke Cage is on Bright Light Orange or Yellow though. Looks a little more like BLO. Everything else looks generally pretty iffy.
Borex Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 They look quitte bad indeed. But i will purchase it for dark phoenix en the punisher variant anyway. Unless of course a better brand will produce them as well.
fred67 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I'd been kind of ignoring this thread, as I don't need to be any kind of completist, nor am I the biggest comic book fan... but over the past few years, I've been picking up superheroes for a display, and I don't know how to feel about some of those pictures.... some of those bootleg sets are nearly exactly the real LEGO I've been collecting, and it seems like someone could catch up to where I am for pennies on the dollar in just one order. At the same time I kind of feel about it, I also think it's neat people can get stuff they just couldn't get otherwise... I may order a Fantastic Four set.
wilson3a10 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) I found some parts of the paint of golden strip peeling off. Overall if the size is bigger it would be perfect Edited September 3, 2014 by wilson3a10

You'd have me beat due to the number of structures that came with your figs. Some of us, like me, aren't interested in those. Those extra buildings and vehicles jack the price waaaay above what I want to pay for a little bit of plastic that makes up a minifig.
Jared Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) I may order a Fantastic Four set. Like you, my friends, I used to be in the dark. So self-obsessed with a pure collection, that anything less would suffice. Then, one day, someone showed me the light, and now I too, will show it to you. XD It's funny you say that, because I used to be SO against anything but pure, but I actually just made my first custom figure order last week. I ordered the Future Foundation set, it just looks so cool. Yes, it may not be LEGO, but truth is, is LEGO really ever going to release a set like this? Probably not. Even if they did, I only had to pay about $10USD for Thing, Torch, Spiderman, Invisible woman and Mr. F, so all in all, probably a good deal. If you're tight on money (like I am), I think custom is a pretty good secondary option. Decool may not be as good as LEGO, but hey, it works! Edited September 3, 2014 by Jared
Robianco Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Custom can be expensive... Especially for good pad printed stuff. Bootlegs are another option... I'd actually say that some SY stuff isn't actually too far from Lego quality especially on their recent SuperHeroes sets... Ignoring the iffy legs on earlier stuff. I like sets as well as figs... I'm not just a minifig collector... That said my minifig collection would be so empty without customs or the bootlegs I've kept.

Those extra buildings and vehicles jack the price waaaay above what I want to pay for a little bit of plastic that makes up a minifig. I didn't buy all the sets... just a few, in fact. Some were in polybags, like Loki, some smaller sets had multiple decent figures, but mostly I just put them on my bricklink wishlist, and while shopping for other things I'd add any superheroes that I thought were worth the price. At least a couple were give-aways from TLG, like the Jor-El and Hulk polybags. In one case (and I know this is not Marvel or DC, but "superhero" nonetheless) The Lone Ranger... I bought the train set for the train. The Lone Ranger and Tonto went into my display case, the other figures in a bin of other figures I currently have no use for. I figure they're as much "super" heroes as Batman and Robin, having no super powers. EDIT: I'll see if I can't post a recent picture somewhere... I just got the Flash. So I've got 32 spots filled, and only one duplicate (Batman) because I have the classic gray one (which reminds me of the 60's TV show, and I may take him out to go with a MOC of the old batmobile) and a newer black suit one. I removed electrosuit and Arctic batman because I ran out of space. I think Batman is in like 90% of the superhero sets! Edited September 3, 2014 by fred67
Kire Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Only problem with the Hulkbuster that I can tell is that you can't fit a figure inside it which is unrealistic but it still looks just as good.
Brickmamba Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 What do people reckon is a fair price for hulk buster, at the moment see them selling for 10usd+

So far i can resemble the sdcc mini 66's batmobile by spare parts. The sdcc mini batmobile set cost $200 USD here errrrrr..........
Kire Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) What do people reckon is a fair price for hulk buster, at the moment see them selling for 10usd+ I've seen them on Aliexpress going for $5 and on auctions on eBay also for 5-6usd. So that's a fair price for a bigfig, 10 is too much for one figure by Decool. Also to anybody interested, the SY Iron man lab set is finally slowly dropping in price. $20 for 500 pieces doesn't seem that bad. http://www.aliexpres...2023021228.html still no luck finding it on eBay besides from one seller who has it marked up. wickedlemon Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Finally got some parcels arrive yesterday. They survived the trip better than usual with only one or two slightly battered boxes. Sheng Yuan's Young Justice wave, although my Night Wing has no face printing whatsoever. Guess the quality control is not quite there yet. JLB Ultraman. Still light years behind the better brands. One figure had two left arms but luckily one of the others had four arms so I'm an arm up on this wave. Win! JLB Mario. Ordered boxed figures but received loose. Need to chase that. Plus one of the mushroom figures was missing and I got an extra Ultraman instead. Interesting fact*: There are no Chinese words for 'Quality Control' or 'Customer Service' (*probably)
wilson3a10 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Sad to hear the news. That is the quality assurance you've got for $1-2 USD per fig.
Robianco Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 The head on the Nightwing is actually the worse print out of the set. It's just a little too heavy and maniacal. I'll have to see about replacing that one on my set. If I do you can always have my one!

Darkdragon Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 JLB Ultraman. Still light years behind the better brands. One figure had two left arms but luckily one of the others had four arms so I'm an arm up on this wave. Win! Now I'm nervous. Mine shipped yesterday.
ClickDastardly Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) Did someone want to see MODOK? He looks neat from afar. Close-up, not so much. The face printing is not good. I don't know who produced those knockoffs, but the plastic quality is barely better than Lele. My initial judgment of the quality of knockoffs is "how much does it hurt when I try to snap the arms into the body?". Again, these weren't as painful to put together as recent Lele sets I have. But nowhere near as good as SY stuff. Here he is: https://www.flickr.c...ly/15137541811/ Edited September 4, 2014 by ClickDastardly
