J.V.D. Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) It seems Halloween is approaching; the horror, the horror !!! I must say though that I have been pleasantly surprised a couple of times (not allways) by Decool and SY figures. Specially the Hulk and Thing bigfigs, and some Iron man variations... Waiting for the Punisher set to arrive in my mailbox now. Can somebody enlighten me on the source for the SY? version Black Widow? It clearly isn't based on the Lego one; is it good quality wise? And have the latests SY Fantastic4 or the GotG set been seen on ebay yet? Edited October 8, 2014 by J.V.D.
Praiter Yed Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) ^There's something utterly compelling about those figs in the link - maybe they're so bad they're good? - I want that Wolverine hair! I assumed SY Black Widow is based on the Avengers Assemble cartoon - it's a reasonable match apart from the hair being the wrong colour. Maybe the comic book experts will put me right though. Quality is as good as you'd expect from SY . Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the design of that set, but they're worth buying for the big Hulk which is even better than Lego's imho (although the one I received had two left hands ). Edit: Also The Falcon is a really good fig with some ace guns. Edited October 8, 2014 by Praiter Yed

If you mean the Avengers set (inc Hulk and Falcon) I wasn't that impressed with any of the figures, quality was pretty poor overall - Black Widow is ok, but different outfit, different colour hair and different face. I preferred the Lego version (there is another set inc Phoenix with Black Widow in - BW in that one is superb, in fact all the figs were fantastic)
Borex Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I saw this picture on the Decool facebookpage (i don't know if it's really by Decool btw) But if this truly is from Decool (i still have doubts) then possible future bigfigs would be classic rhino, juggernaut and colossus. It can be plausible because of the structures on venom, which are the same. But then again I also read that these are creations of the brick creator, so it could be a picture of theirs.
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Search on EBay for "building" keyword in the "toys and hobbies" category with your search country set for China under the advanced settings - go by ending date. Throw in another key word - batman or 4, 6 or 8 (the number of sets / figures in the release) or 4pcs, 6pcs etc or minifig ... to narrow it down. Change if nothing comes up. Look at the pictures carefully. Digger318 has a very good flickr account with most series sorted by manufacturer to work from - or look at his youtube stuff. http://www.ebay.com....=item462532cefe Not cheaper though. I found the spider bike by this seller separate... So have a look through his store for auctions? I've bought from this guy before. Slow but ok. Mail was slow that is. I tried this but even by only searching for "building" there are only a dozen or so listings and all are army themed sets of bricks. It seems to me that something is blocking me from all these sellers. The few I found a few months ago now all have 0 listings but I can still find a few active and unactive ones through Google and the listings that I bookmarked. Is this some kind of IP blocking by Ebay? You guys seem to have none of those problems.

Robianco Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 The quality on the Decool Phoenix set with Black Widow / Joker etc was pretty good but I must say that the Avengers set Praiter Yed mentioned was far superior as most of the SY releases are... at least the more recent ones (we can rule out their early Superman, Spiderman and Iron Man sets). The Hulk on that set was great... the Nick Fury has been modded now with a Citizen Brick eye patch head and I've modded hair to make a classic Nick Fury. The print on the one I received was perfect. I have to say that the recent Decool Iron Man set (with Mark 1) was also a big improvement on their figures. I even replaced a couple of SY figures in my HOA with those and they easily updated their older versions of the same armour. I had a set of the SY SWAT arrive today that I paid £2.88 for with free shipping. I have to say that the quality of the print was excellent again... especially those that followed Lego designs and the recent Young Justice was another excellent set. Artemis in that set was a superb figure although they're all copied from EclipseGrafx designs. I did have to replace the bow with a compound bow from Brickforge as that's what the original EG version had. If SY keep up this level of print then I have no reason to think that the Fantastic Four set (which I've had confirmation was shipped to me today) should be the best I need to look for. Muddy River has produced a set of figures but at $75 for 3 figures I'm looking to put that money towards a UCS Tumbler. I've actually got yellow arms and purple hands waiting for my ZEA figure as well as a purple cape... but the printing I've seen so far on the other figs tells me that SY still have the edge on quality over all their 'competitors'. I just really look forward to seeing what SY have in store next. There's probably a couple of waves before they clone all the DC stuff coming out in January. The quality on the SW stuff they do isn't as high on the Superheroes range they have... which is a shame as if they got things on par then they could bring out some great figures... Imagine if SY bring out a set of aliens from the Cantina such as Dr Evazan?

I was under the impression that Robuku's ZEA was just a bad shipment, everything I have seen on Aliexpress and ebay (as well as Digger318's review) have suggested that the figure does come with yellow arms and a purple cape, usually if you tell the seller, they ship out a replacement

Although this is what I imagine some of the bigfigs are based off Aha! What i was afraid of. That Decool fb page is probably from a fanboy then. But still like to see them (or sy) do a bigfig juggy or classic rhino. Or Kingpin. Or Thanos. Or Sasquatch. A proper SWcantina wave, oooh that would be something. I'd like to see jawas pop up in a next series

I actually try to replace any part possible with official Lego pieces. Even if they turn up with the right arms etc I'll still be changing it on the one I keep. The purple cape on the official ZEA figure is a standard purple cape without the Batman scalloping although the CGI image and the image on the packaging for the SDCC release has a scalloped cape. As I was ordering stuff from BL I thought I'd add a few pieces I needed just to make it look official... like also having a baseball bat from the Simpsons figures for him. summicron Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Sheng Yuan SY168 S.W.A.T. I only have time to check one out of the four boxes I bought yesterday. SY did well on this set. The design and printing is well done. Everything fits right and tight. It's very playable too. The helmets, vests and belt can hold handguns, grenade, knife, bullets, baton and torch. For more hi-res photos of this guy, check out my google drive: Link
Kire Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) So the preorders for the GOTG set are out and we have confirmed box images, but does anybody have the leaflet so we can see what follows. I'm hoping for SDCC promos Edited October 8, 2014 by Kire
jangosolo Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) So the preorders for the GOTG set are out and we have confirmed box images, but does anybody have the leaflet so we can see what follows. I'm hoping for SDCC promos I've gone ahead and ordered - though they've dropped the price again - now £5.57! So cancelled and reordered. There's a new polybag out with the SDCC Rocket (and Groot in a pot) http://brickfanatics...bag-discovered/ so even if the bootleggers don't do the SDCC Rocket, its going to be cheaper to source. If a different rocket is done, I'd like to see the comic's blue jacket version. I used the discount to treat myself to that sweet 4pc SY SWAT set, which I have next to no use for, but at £2.50 I have to have it. Edited October 9, 2014 by jangosolo

I used the discount to treat myself to that sweet 4pc SY SWAT set, which I have next to no use for, but at £2.50 I have to have it. I grabbed one of those for around the same price. I just replace the minifigures with official Lego and sell them on eBay. Some of the accessories have been useful in putting together a little custom set of classic 80s SAS minifigures with Citizen Brick Dark Bley balaclava heads. I still have the best of intentions to create a balcony similar to the Iranian Embassy for them to rappel down onto! For the GOTG I'm still undecided to go with that seller... dropping the price so quickly several times and with 75% rating with only 2 feedback doesn't fill me with confidence. I'm sure as soon as they ready to hit the shelves there'll be tons of them and they'll be sent out the same time as he gets his stock. Fingers crossed for you!
gavralcraw Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Just ordered the SY SWAT set too. Looks fun.

Indeed i do the same, replace SY arms and decool hips where possible, question is how are you going to replace SY mr fantastic arms?
gauz Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I messaged one of the sellers, I have had good transactions with on AE, about the big Venom fig. They said they have orders in to the factory but they have not received anything yet.
Robianco Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Indeed i do the same, replace SY arms and decool hips where possible, question is how are you going to replace SY mr fantastic arms? Ha... there's the tricky one! Apparently from the recent reviews from Digger318 the arm joints are now identical to Lego so I'm hoping that the shoulder size should be better... they do seem to be altering their moulds or even acquiring Lego ones from somewhere. I think I may just have to live with Mr Fantastic and the trans red Human Torch too!

ChrisW Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 So for a first timer wanting to buy some SY Fantastic Four figs, am I better off going via eBay or Alibaba?
jangosolo Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Latest get is the Decool Super Heroes and Villains set of six figures. more pics here: http://lotsoflegos.b...inifigures.html Still waiting for mine, previously I was getting stuff from the Far East to the UK in around 5 days - this one has taken 4 weeks so far, tomorrow I can raise a case on ebay, haven't paid a lot for it, but I really wanted it! So for a first timer wanting to buy some SY Fantastic Four figs, am I better off going via eBay or Alibaba? I would have always said ebay, but have recently joined aliexpress and so far so good. Ebay is still slightly cheaper on some sets, but Aliexpress is like an absolute Aladdins cave - I could spend an absolute fortune on there if left unchecked
