As a curious man who may or may not have recently acquired a 3D printer, what sort of plastic is Lego made from and is it available in spools? xD

I think the ABS plastic of lego is made from pellets.

The 3D printer material can get great detail but isn't great on flat surfaces as it leaves the ridge marks from the movement of the printer.

Maybe with some sanding etc you can get some nice custom pieces.

That's the idea, I was thinking of things like different arms (think MegaMan, Red Snapper) and stuff like that. Different odd shaped pieces

If you can 3D print Nightcrawler's tail that would be neat.

Brick Warriors tail with a hard rubber belt with stud holder on the back works a treat!

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I found the tail (I think black is the best bet) where can I find a hard rubber belt with stud holder?

This is the one I used. I used a scalpel to cut the accessory holders off it so just the stud holder remained.

I've basically done the same thing for my Azazel custom.

Is that place any good? Never ordered but did stumble across it when looking for gold vambraces (they were out of stock). They are still out of stock! Must be a world wide shortage.

I got some gold vambraces for my Namor custom but I can't remember where... Actually... just checked... I did get them from LPB... it seems they are indeed out of stock now!

Le Petite Brique are very good. They're not the cheapest but they're a reseller for a lot of companies so you can often get everything together in one place thus saving on postage. Shipping to the UK is quite quick too. I've made several orders from them.

Brickmamba posted an image of the SY Superman set that had the legs replaced around a week ago... It got that set around a year or so ago but the shoulders on the recent image showed that they'd been rounded.

Does anyone know if SY updated this set with newer torso shape? If so I might be tempted to pick another set up.

I just ordered a set from AE. I can let you know as soon as it gets here (probably about 14 days)

I ordered one almost 2 weeks ago, hasn't shipped yet!

Let me rephrase my comment: The set I ordered 20 days ago is in the process of getting to me. I estimate another 2 weeks.

Parcel arrived this morning with 2 Hulkbusters in it. So I've got a spare if anyone in the UK is looking for one. £2 + postage or it'll hit eBay.

I was going to buy the Hulkbuster for £7, then I saw I could get a set of Iron Man's and the Hulkbuster for £13, nicely packaged too, and well, I bought it. No idea if anyone's posted pictures, as I'm in a more or less Lego community dark age, still, in the event anyone want's to see some pictures, here you go!

He can pick up official Lego figures too, so even your smaller Hulk (if you have one) isn't safe

And my set of Iron Men (excuse my desk intruding on the picture)

Overall, unbelievably impressed. I've been saying I'll buy some of these folk for ages, to harvest the parts for my own creations, but I'm more likely now to just swap the heads, arms, and legs (where applicable) with the real stuff, or even leave them as they are (in the case of the original suit and black/gold/white suits). And the Hulkbuster...that's what sold me on all this. A fantastic, fantastic figure, well worth any sort of money, and even elbow joints! A great surprise.

I ended up with three boxed Hulkbusters for just over 7 quid - other places wanted almost as much for one. Just hoping I can find the same sort of deal on the big fig Venom.

Question for the UK buyers here:

Seeing as the main source for reasonably priced bootlegs on eBay just seems to have disappeared, I've decided to finally take the plunge and buy from AE. I'm thinking of making one biggish order for everything I need and wondered if any of you have ever had any problems with additional Customs charges?

(I had a BL order from the US once and was hit with VAT from Customs & Excise and an additional £8 handling fee from Royal Mail for an order that was barely over £15  ).

That's a pack I'm definitely interested in. I don't suppose you still have a link?

I've never had any customs issues with them.

I made an order of 10 sets of the three Thing colours and arrived no problem.

Whether that was luck I'm not sure but I've never had that luck with BL orders from the US!

^^ Thanks for the reply - think I'll risk it then.

Maybe I was unlucky with the BL order but it forced me to look up the regs on imports and as I understand it anything you buy from abroad for over £15 could be charged VAT by customs and excise - that's not so bad, it's the Royal Mail's rip off 'handling charge' that's the killer. I think whether you get charged or not basically depends on whether the person checking the package is having a good or bad day. Certainly put me off buying stuff from abroad and I've always limited my eBay orders to less than £15, although I noticed that any bootlegs coming from China have always been marked as 'commercial samples' on the customs forms.
