pmptstc1 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 My set was delivered at the weekend with the same problem . Seller has offered £1 refund or a replacement arm - of course I've asked for the arm, fingers crossed I get the 'right' one I just got my replacement in the other day. The seller sent a complete human touch, so now I have most of an extra.
Robianco Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 (edited) ^ I got back from a short holiday this year to find an email from Phoenix Customs about the pre-sale of his pad printed version of the Collector which is perfect. A quick £20 Paypal payment later and it was ordered so no need to track down a £150 official version. There are so many game designs that the bootleggers could easily just concentrate on those for 3 or 4 waves and everyone would be happy. The hilariously bad sets tend to be from new manufacturers that try and get a foothold... that Antman set is TERRIBLE... but at least they had Antman, Quicksilver and Daredevil so trying to do something a little new. I think the Groot minifig actually looks quite good... I think Thanos is a step too far for their 'designers' at this point... especially as to whether to make it a minifig or bigfig. I just wish someone would produced the 2011 SDCC Batman and the 2013 Spiderwoman! Edited November 18, 2014 by Robianco

I'll take a look though, the character is interesting and I like his design - he'd fit in well in my display! EDIT - hmm! there are only 3 figs to buy and no Collector.. though $4 for that sweet Gambit head is interesting - pity its $10 shipping! Edited November 18, 2014 by jangosolo
jangosolo Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I just got my replacement in the other day. The seller sent a complete human touch, so now I have most of an extra. That's happened to me too, had a incorrect Nick Fury, got a whole new figure sent out - more recently had a bad batman, asked for a minor refund - a quid I think, instead he offered smaller refund of around 65p or send a new figure... errr new fig please! not sure how that is better value for him including the shipping, but it seems that they must be getting a superb bulk buy price and our shipping prices are insanely expensive compared to theirs - I can't even send something to the next street for less than 73p!
Robianco Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I think most sellers will offer the same deal.. They want a good rep and want to sell as many as possible. The price they get them wholesale in China must be tiny so the margins are good for them. Even when I used to be able to pick up some sets for around £3.50 or so they'd be making a profit. Now it's up round the $9 or £6 mark they must be laughing!

wickedlemon Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I've had seller's be awkward as hell when bits have been missing - most try to avoid sending replacements. What good is a $1 refund when you need to buy a whole new set? Glad there are some good sellers out there though.
Praiter Yed Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I've only ever had good experiences with the sellers on eBay (and I think I've had problems with around 4 orders), are the awkward sellers on AE or have I just been 'lucky'? I had a SY Falcon delivered with broken wings, asked seller for replacement wings, received a Decool Hawkeye in the post about two weeks later, pointed out the sellers error and got a complete SY Falcon in the post after another two weeks . As Jango Solo says, It's unbelievable how they can ship these around the world for less than the domestic postage price. If you want to post a bigfig in the UK you're looking at at least £2.95 and yet I got the SY F4 set delivered from China for £4 inclusive! Bidders on eBay have gone crazy recently though, must be due to Christmas.

AE, but I have had issues on eBay too in the past. Having said that, I have made lots of orders as I have two of nearly every superhero wave Decool and SY have released. Robianco Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 The only issue I've ever had on AE was with a seller who went close to the 30 days processing time and I tried to cancel at the end. In the end it was just down to language barrier and they sent the item just after that. I think it's down to them not having the item in stock when they advertise it... hence people now listing them as pre-sale to avoid such issues. Everything I've ordered on AE has arrived no problem at all... I find some of the buyers etc on eBay can be such miserable sods.
gavralcraw Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Had one no show order from an AE seller but got a refund so it was all good in the end. Had one "subbed" ninja turtle set which was terrible (not the brand it was advertised as), an upside down printed nick fury head (he looks furious!) which I've grown to love and that's all for about 15 orders.
KCMatze Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Man the ebay problem gets worse and worse... now my prefered shop shows as empty. No idea how I will get my next orders up. Stupid ebay!!
ClickDastardly Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I haven't had many problems with the Ebay sellers. The few issues I did have were all resolved quickly. I recently ordered the superhero figures with blue baseplates (I have no idea who makes them...there is no name), and they mailed me a set of SY Ninja figures. I contacted them and they sent the superhero set out right away (which I got yesterday). So, I ended up with a set of Ninja figures for free. The time it takes for the AE orders is all over the place. Mostly it seems to take longer. And with the holidays coming up, I expect everything to start taking longer to arrive. I also am hooked on this thread! I check it every day (sometimes more than once). So I appreciate all the postings and info!! I get a kick out of the awful figures...they make me laugh after a crappy day at work. I just won an auction for the Smurfs set for like $4...and I can't wait for them to arrive!! I expect them to be terrible!!! I am having trouble posting pictures...I need to go read up on what I am doing wrong. But I wanted to thank everyone for the info they pass along to us here!!
Tyberious Funk Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Man the ebay problem gets worse and worse... now my prefered shop shows as empty. No idea how I will get my next orders up. Stupid ebay!! It's disappointing for sure. But at least there are plenty of vendors on AliExpress... and I can't see them disappearing anytime soon. I imagine the eBay vendors have stopped selling because there have been complaints filled. They usually lay low for a little while, and then start selling again.
kid Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Digger posted the review of the Decool SWAT/Army figures. looks ok. I like the new helmet.
KCMatze Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) The problem is not that they stopped selling, they do of course! Problem is that ebay blocks them from being found. So the shop shows as empty on ebay Germany. If I have the direct link to the auction it is no problem, but I just found out that my standard way to get to the shop (through another countries ebay, via google translate) does not work anymore. This sounds more complicated than it really is ;) AliExpress is no option, as I don't want to get a credit card just to buy bootleg LEGO... Edited November 19, 2014 by KCMatze

kid Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 hanmeimei is having an issue with paypal which is stopping him from selling on ebay right now. He says he is sorting it out and will be back on line soon.
KCMatze Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Okay, thanks for letting me know! May I ask how you got the information? Hope he's back soon ;)
kid Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Okay, thanks for letting me know! May I ask how you got the information? Robianco Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) When you read that thread those people are worse than bootleggers. They hoard sets just for resale when discontinued and they see bootleggers affecting their profit margin. I'd ask who is actually offering the public a better service? Thankfully even if eBay stops selling Ali won't give a toss! Edited November 19, 2014 by Robianco
jangosolo Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) Ah Man! These guys suck! They are right though, it's seriously devaluing the resale of Geniune lego, I can't shift my Rocket Raccoon, even though its one of the cheapest on ebay, however when did a figure become worth £15? These resellers are taking the michael most of the time anyway! Would be disappointed if I couldn't sell my spare bootlegs on ebay though, its not as if I even ask a lot, mostly just want stuff for free! Edited November 19, 2014 by jangosolo
ClickDastardly Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I received my Doll brand set today (the one with Dark Phoenix). If I had to rate the quality, I guess it's below Decool, but better than Lele. The capes feel soft and fuzzy one one side...sorta cool! One figure was missing a base plate. Flash had 5 extra hands. I mainly wanted Dark Phoenix. The printing on her is not awful, but it looks like it printed twice and the second print was offset slightly from the first. Looks ok from a distance, I guess. I'm not complaining...just passing along what I got. I know it's all kind of potluck. It's all part of the bootleg experience to me! And thanks for passing along the info on hanmeimei. I buy from him a lot.

You want to buy a set because you think it might be worth a little more money in the future... fine, that's your choice. But people that are basically hoarding sets as speculative investments -- IMHO, they are damaging the hobby. If bootleggers are cutting into their margins, then good.
