CM4Sci Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Hey everyone! With the release of LEGO Ideas this past week, I thought I should decide to make a project, because I haven't made one for a while. I thought of making the Mall of America LEGO Store, in Minnesota, 20 minutes away from me. I'm currently working on it as I speak - this thread will be just to show my progress on it so far, so when it's done, I can submit it. At this moment, I don't have much. Just the checkout table and a possible Build-a-Minifig stand. The point of this thread is to show the progress on this MOC. I'll post updates at least every week. Feedback is greatly appreciated, so I can continue working on and improving what the final store will look like! Thanks for looking! -Sci Quote
legoman19892 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) I work there, looks good so far. Are you going to build the beams as well? Edited May 7, 2014 by legoman19892 Quote
CM4Sci Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 I work there, looks goid so far. Are you going to build the beams as well? I'm going for absolutely everything! Perhaps I can include you as one of the worker minifigs? -Sci Quote
sabertooth Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) I really like the build-a-minifig-stand! The two holes give it a super-realistic feeling, and the color-scheme yellow-white-blue is gorgeous! It is by far the best build-a-minifig-stand that I have seen so far. Any chance that you would share the LDD? Edited May 3, 2014 by sabertooth Quote
Legoaholic Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Went to this lego store when visiting relatives, sadly before i got into lego so i only bought a duplo farm set for my niece. Are you planning on building the mega models on the top of the store, huge job if you are. By the way very friendly and helpful staff when i visited. Quote
CM4Sci Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 First update! Today I worked on the round table in the middle of the store, that sometimes has computers and sometimes has bins of LEGO (I couldn't really add actual bins, so I put them on the table) Along with the table I quickly thought up some minifigures - A dad, son, and three LEGO Store employees. I'm thinking of adding a mom or an AFOL I'll see if I can start working on one of the walls later this week! Feedback is appreciated! Thanks! -Sci Quote
L@go Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 What a strange coincidence. I've just built a modular LEGO store, and the interior details in mine are strikingly similar to yours - not that strange, maybe, as they're built after real-life things, but it's interesting to see how similar our thinking has been. I'll try to get some photographs up over the next couple of weeks. Looking forward to your updates on this. Quote

However, you might want to include the play area in the back near Nickelodeon Universe. Since you are 20 minutes away, stop by and take some pictures. I also noticed you have 2 extra vitrines at the register. We only have one at the ends, not the middle two. Edited May 7, 2014 by legoman19892 Quote

I'll see if I can stop by later this week. I'm also working on the minifigure designs, at the moment. Also, L@go, that is weird. I'd love to see it! Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming! -Sci Quote
CM4Sci Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Sorry for the long hiatus! For those who actually still follow this, I got around to getting good pictures of the store, and I've started building all of the yellow beams. I'm pretty sure I'll have a lot more free time to work on this now! Stay tuned for more. -Sci Quote
DavidJSevern Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Hi, would you possibly be able to upload the photographs of the actual store? From your design it looks very interesting, wouldn't mind seeing it! I'm in the UK, so I can't pop over and have a look :( Quote

Almost done with the yellow beams... this part is at least 650 pieces Hi, would you possibly be able to upload the photographs of the actual store? From your design it looks very interesting, wouldn't mind seeing it! I'm in the UK, so I can't pop over and have a look :( Here's the only good picture I could find of the whole store. I didn't get one, but... feel free to look at these for more pictures. Stay tuned for more updates! -Sci Edited June 11, 2014 by CM4S Quote
