Core308 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Hi im a LDD scale model builder (1 stud = 1x1 foot) and i got problems with building bigger models that exceed 10k bricks ( i mainly make lego models of military warships and aircraft), LDD just crashes and quits without saving, at my current model (Warship) it's gotten so bad that i cant paste in any more parts, and if i select more than 4 pieces LDD crashes is there any way to make LDD more stable? and what is the maximum brick count? (hi-quality brick rendering is disabled) Added a Mig-29 Fulcrum i just made in LDD Can't upload LXF file for some reason but i'l get back on that later Quote
legolijntje Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Well, the mamximum amount of bricks depens an a bunch of factors, but the most important ones are your computer specs (especially your video card and amount of ram) and what bricks you use. But, LDD's own maximum amount of parts (so where it doesn't depend on your hardware anymore, but on the software) is around 30.000/40.000 I believe. Also, the bricks youuse affect the amount of parts you can use. For example, a large baseplate is only 1 part, but it has a lot of polygons and affecst the performance like a bunch of bricks. But, I'm more into LDraw than into LDD and there are people here on the forum who know more about it. Quote
Wolfolo Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 This mean I could not be able to import all my new sets in a single project to make a palette of the parts I have... now I'm around 5000 parts, but I'm adding more soon. Quote
Calabar Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 bbqqq few time ago noted that the limit is much more sensitive to polygon count than to brick's number. Baseplates foe example, with so many studs in sight, are very heavy for LDD. Anyway one thing is sure: LDD as it is now is not thought for large projects. Surely disable advanced graphics could help to Can't upload LXF file for some reason but i'll get back on that later You should use an external file hosting. For LEGO purpose, the most suitable are brickshelf and bricksafe, that allows direct link and can host any type of LEGO related files. Quote
