Lots of top sales people here. ;)

I have classic Black Falcons as well as these bad boys to find a home for:

So much Black...

That settles it, you have to join Nocturnus. :tongue:

...enchanted pumpkin pie,...

...well, sometimes that's what it is, the rest of the time the cook isn't able to get his sword out in time and the pumpkin... lets just say that there isn't much left of the cook.

Taken from Garlam Nesselbrood's guide to Historica -

Nocturnus -

~Common foods: "Pumpkin" pies*, cannibal stew (Made with 100% real cannibals).

~Most popular pass-time: Pumpkin hunting.

~Sight seeing attractions: Lava floes, poisonous marshes, dry steppe.

~Political climate: Unstable.

~Main export: Assassins, Drow, Various Plants, Narcotic Mushrooms, Pirates, Obsidian.

Fixed. :tongue: Edited by Lord Duvors

Well, since you are in Garheim with me over on LoR, maybe you should stick with me in Kaliphlin here. You know, just to make sure you feel welcome and all ;)

I tend to picture the Black Falcons in Kaliphlin or Nocturnus, and with all that grim black, I would see them in Nocturnus. Not that they couldn't work in Avalonia or we wouldn't want to have you...

Kaliphlin = desert and ocean/ships

Mitgardia = Mountain, snow and Forest, plus Icy seas and ships

Nocturnus = anything and everything with a dark twist, + lava

Avalonia = Forest and Plains with some Mystic Isles and Lots of islands.

I would say whichever of those areas you prefer to build in you choose, because you may be doing a lot of builds there.

Kaliphlin has jungles and swamps, and Nocturnus has swamps and plains, for a overview of the basic landscapes available i'd recommend looking at this for Mitgardia;

temperate rainforest, old growth oak forest, pine forest, birch forest, tundra, lakes, mountain meadows, mountain peaks, glacial valleys, fjords, fjell, caves

And for the rest of the Guilds;

Avalonia has got... Grassland, Boreal Forests, Pine Forests, Oak Forests, Wetlands, Mountains, Highlands, Islands, Rivers, Lakes, Marshes, and Caves.

Khaliphlin has got... Deserts, Mountains, Jungles, Swamps, Islands, Bamboo Forests, Boreal Forests, Rivers, Cliffs, Caves, Volcanoes, Valleys, and Hot Springs.

Nocturnus has got... Swamps, Marshes, Wetlands, Mountains, Flatlands, Forests, Jungles, Badlands, Volcanoes, Caves, Hot Springs, Islands, Cliffs, Rivers, Lakes, Highlands, Mudflats, Lava Rivers, Valleys, Deserts, Savana, and Fire Swamps.

I think that covers most of it.

Most of the biomes you listed fall into the categories I had. Yes, Avalonia has Crystal deposit forests and Kelp grotto villages and floating islands, but this is not where most people build. This is meant to be a broad overview for the newcomer. 80% of Kaliphlin is desert, 90% of Avalonia is forests plains and islands. 80% of Mitgardia is Forests, Mountains or Tundra. Yes, there are other biomes in these guilds, but most of what you build is going to fall into the basic categories I listed. It is possible to build strictly in jungle in Kaliphlin or strictly in underwater caverns in Avalonia, but this would not be the norm for 95% of our builders. If you are going to be participating in challenges and such, you will most likely end up building in the desert of Kaliphlin or the forests of Avalonia, etc.

Well I think it is going to have to be Mitgardia or Avalonia for me then as I have the bricks and minifigs for those two but not for Kalaphlin or Nocturnus. A shame as they both seem to have a bit of style. ;)

Nocturnus has the same terrains as Avalonia and Mitgardia, so don't count it out.

Another thing you might want to consider are the members of each guild. Do you like teamwork? Or do you like doing your own thing. If you like teamwork and member interaction, then I would suggest chatting with different members of the different guilds and see who you seem to "click" with. Some of my most satisfying builds in GoH were interactions with other members.

Thanks Mike. Gabe and Gideon have been chatting to me already and they seem to be decent people indeed. :)

And don't rule a guild out just because of the pieces in your collection. I almost did that with Mitgardia because I didn't have a lot of white bricks. But I'm really glad I joined it and the lack of white has not been an issue at all (though I have since increased my number of white bricks).

OK, so here are the points we have collectively made:

1. You should choose the guild where the colors match, and the Black Falcon crests have been used before

BUT

Don't base your choice off the colors, or historic usage, you can go anywhere!

2. You should choose a guild with terrains you like to build in, since you'll be building there a lot

BUT

Don't base your choice off terrain because every guild has most terrains, so don't let that deter you!

3. You should choose a guild where you don't have to buy a lot of brick to build in

BUT

Don't base your choice off your current Lego collection, since you can always buy more.

There. Doesn't that simplify things immensely?

Yes well you have helped me a lot and yet made it worse with your help. :) I think now I am leaning towards Kalphlin.... Maybe Nocturnus if the brick selection is not such a restriction..... We will see.

Ahh... a choice between the most culturally diverse and the most ethnically diverse.

Kali is definitely the guild for you (and for all those other GoHers that have missed their calling)!

I think it is going to be ............... Kaliphlin! :laugh: Now I think i got to go to Bricklink and buy me some sand.

Alright, how much? How much did they pay you?

Leave it to those Kaliphlinians to pay off people... I suppose It's the only way anyone will join their guild anyways.

:grin:

:grin:

We don't need to pay anyone off.... we just have more adventure than the other guilds. We got pirates, hidden coves, forbidden jungles, mysterious sea caves, deserted ruins, and forgotten mountain paths to name just a few.

Good choice mate! :thumbup: Welcome aboard - it's a bit quiet in the guild thread atm, but that will pick up soon as GNAR and challenge II entries start rolling in. :classic:
