JohannesESTONIA Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) Forget you R, V or Boxer engines. This is the future, a very powerful engine, where the thrust is divided evenly on the crankshaft. And plus, it has 28 cylinders... Edited May 12, 2014 by JohannesESTONIA Quote
KirTech LAB Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Where do you want to use this MONSTER? PS: it seems your engine has 28 cylinders... extended version? Quote
JohannesESTONIA Posted May 10, 2014 Author Posted May 10, 2014 Where do you want to use this MONSTER? PS: it seems your engine has 28 cylinders... extended version? I'll try to build a Trial Truck of some sort to fit it on :D P.S of course it has 28 cylinders, I don't know, why I wrote 22 :D Maybe I had a stroke or something :D Quote
Blakbird Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Nice engine! Erik Leppen's Bughatti has an engine in a similar configuration, except it is a Y instead of an X. The only problem with such a configuration, learned by radial aircraft engine designers long ago, is that the inverted cylinders burn a tremendous amount of oil because the crankcase drains right onto them. grum64 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Be great in a replacement for the 8457 power puller. Quote
gti180 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 looks like a basic redial engine to me. doubt its the future of engines but still interesting. wonder if a pneumatic version could be done... Quote

Yeah, I also saw this engine, it's also a cool configuration. Be great in a replacement for the 8457 power puller. Challenge accepted, I will build a power puller with this engine ;) looks like a basic redial engine to me. doubt its the future of engines but still interesting. wonder if a pneumatic version could be done... Yeah, it pretty much is a basic radial engine, just 4 of them put together. And I'm sure, that this isn't the future, put it's still cool to think :D Hmm, a pneumatic engine would be awesome... Anyone up to it? Quote
Boxerlego Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Awesome work, that is one massive engine. The future for engines is when you can fill up your tank with water. Quote

Rockbrick Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) Tatra only had up to an aircooled V12 engine.... Edited May 23, 2014 by Rockbrick Quote
grum64 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) I've just seen that you've chosen to build a power puller after my suggestion. I'm chuffed and can't wait to see the result. Edited May 22, 2014 by grum64 Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) Looks good! The engine reminds me of some of the old X-engines from years ago, like this 24 cylinder Allison: http://oldmachinepress.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/allison-x-4520-rrhtab-front.jpg Pretty neat engines, and pretty different from the radials as well. JohannesESTONIA Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 BTW, still building that Power Puller Quote
grum64 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) BTW, still building that Power Puller Looking good so far. Eagerly awaiting completion. Edited June 26, 2014 by grum64 Quote
JohannesESTONIA Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 Well, the Power Puller is finished. Maybe it didn´t turn out the greatest, but it works and pulls ;) Quote
grum64 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) OMG! It's a beast! Given the short time you've had to build this I think you've done a brilliant job. Any chance of a video? Edited July 5, 2014 by grum64 Quote
