Bison Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 I have a 7722 set, and when I go flip the switch the train sometimes doesn't start up. I have to hit it on top of the train to get it to run for a while, but then it's back to not working. Please help. Thanks. Quote
JopieK Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Could you be a little more specific?! What does the motor do if you connect it to a cable (directly from the transformer?!). Quote
Bison Posted May 10, 2014 Author Posted May 10, 2014 The motor runs off and on in the forward setting, in the reverse setting it runs just fine and a little faster. Quote
JopieK Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 yes that is what you said, but... you don't mention how you test the motor, only on the tracks, or also using the output from the motor connecting it to the transformer, touching wires to the copper contacts and see how it reacts then... we can not see in your LEGO room, so if you don't give us very specific details it will be very hard to guess the problem. It might be the brushes, but I'm not sure since you don't give us enough details. Quote

JopieK Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 yups, sorry about that, I indeed just imagined that it was a 12V set! Then you should take a different approach: - use a multimeter to check what comes out of the battery box! - check a different motor if possible Quote
Bison Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 I used a multimeter and got a reading of 4.3 volts. Tried a new motor a it worked just fine, a little high pitched but some 3&1 oil fixed her right up. Thanks for all the help guys. Quote
