soccerkid6 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) This is the third set in my series of custom modular Castle sets. It is similar in size and part count to what an official set would be. The trebuchet actually works and is fun to play around with. There's also an interior in the first floor of the bastion, including a bed, torch, and ladder to reach the second floor. This is a corner section of the modular castle and can attach to the other sets. Total piece count, including figs is 240 parts. See the trebuchet in action here: All prices include shipping to anywhere in the US. Price for the complete set is 30$ Without the minifig: 25$ All 3 sets combined: Just the 3 Castle sections combined: More pictures can be seen here: link C&C welcome Edited January 12, 2016 by soccerkid6 Quote
-Horizon- Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 That's really cool Soccer Kid. They look great together. Quote
Gideon Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I like how that castle is growing and how you're showing your skills working with the limited amount of parts a "retail" set has to have. Keep it up! (I suppose that using a lot of plates like that is parts budget well spent to give the Trebuchet some extra range? ) Quote
ManInATopHat Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Nice, simple little trebuchet. I wonder if it would be possible to make one that was really realistic, i.e. using pulleys and levers and all of that fun mechanical stuff. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 That's really cool Soccer Kid. They look great together. Thanks, they're definitely cooler all hooked together I like how that castle is growing and how you're showing your skills working with the limited amount of parts a "retail" set has to have. Keep it up! (I suppose that using a lot of plates like that is parts budget well spent to give the Trebuchet some extra range? ) Thanks Gideon, and yeah extra range is why I did plates rather than bricks for the weight. Plates are pretty cheap and a lot heavier than normal bricks Nice, simple little trebuchet. I wonder if it would be possible to make one that was really realistic, i.e. using pulleys and levers and all of that fun mechanical stuff. Thank you, I'm sure you could, though it'd be a fairly difficult project in LEGO (mostly beause of the sling firing mechanism trebuchets use) Nice! I love your modular castle builds! Thanks LV, glad to hear you're enjoying these builds This topic should be in the normal Historic Themes forum so if one of you regulators could move it, I'd appreciate it Quote
Gunman Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Another sweet adition Isaac.... Nice thing that you put interior again in a such small tower xDD Quote
MassEditor Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Awesome build SK! Wonderful and powerful trebuchet! Your skills are certainly obvious with the detail you put in this scene, and the quintessentially "official Lego set" look it has! Can't wait to see more! Quote
Scaevola Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Nice- I really like the trebuchet. The wall sections are also quite nice Quote
TheUtilityBelt Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I like the idea of making it 'set size'! I would love buy this, Issac! Quote

emilstorm Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I like it a lot! I love the idea of that kind of modular castle, this is the way I imagined making a castle if I get into castle building again. I think the trebuchet and ballista are great! Quote
Lady K Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 This is great. Love the trebuchet. It's neat your building modular sets. How many are you planning? Quote
ED-209 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Gorgeous, I love it! I can't wait until you complete the whole range! BTW, does the force of the throw start to pull the catapults apart after a while? They look very solid, but I was just wondering if you came across the problem? Quote

Love the trebuchet. It's neat your building modular sets. How many are you planning? Thanks, and I'd like to do quite a few of these modules, 10 at least Gorgeous, I love it! They look very solid, but I was just wondering if you came across the problem? Thanks! The force of the throw does loosen the catapults up eventually, but it takes a lot of throws for them to actually break. I just repress all the pieces every so often Quote
ZCerberus Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Cool soccer. I like the more "LEGO" set oriented build style here, I think you have it down. Your MOCs are still 1000 times better, but it's fun to build this way too some times! Quote
