K-Nut Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 "This must be it... Looks imposing. The flag is a nice touch, I must add. How will we go about it, Althior?" "What a bunch of degenerates", Eric whispered, to none in particular. "They deserve nothing more than to be taken down." "We should at least give them a chance. It's not their fault they are like this," Althior turned to the rest of the party. This quest was already off course, and he knew more time couldn't be wasted on subtlety. "We go in. We try and reason with them. If they're not to be reasoned with, then we can fight. But we're not murderers. We're supposed to be heroes. I can hear children from out here. Those who don't fight are left as they are. There will be no massacre under my watch." Althior store towards the flag. He'd done enough murdering without reason for a life time. The possibility of genocide was new to him. Everything he stood for, everything he was; he would not allow that. He had more blood on his hands already. More than anyone knew. He wasn't the bad guy. He turned back to his ragtag party. "Any objection, or should we get the hell on in there already?" It was time that their mission get on track. They had a job that needed to be done, and it needed to be done quickly. Quote

"I don't think the question is should we get in, but how do we get in." "How indeed. If we walk up to the gate to "reason with them" they will attempt to take the rest of us hostage and we'll have to fight. If we break in there is no way they will listen to anything intruders of their homes have to say. The actions of their hunting party had been sanctioned by their leader. These aren't reasonable people. If you do not wish to kill them all then you must be willing to omit speaking with them all together. They are too far gone...I'm parched." Nur consumes a Mead. "I suggest a diversion at the gate while a couple of us enter elsewhere then locate and release our companions and get out of here, fast. As I mentioned at the beginning of this adventure speed and stealth are our greatest allies but only if we use them." Quote
Khorne Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 "I'm with the mage here. These people aren't to be reasoned with. Their door is looked. The mutants want the strangers out of their fortress, not invite them in to have a nice chat." Eric sighed as he uncorked another of his precious meads. He drank it to the bottom and then slightly smiled. "Perhaps we crack some skulls to frighten them? We leave them shocked and in awe of our prowess and take what we came for." Eric threw the empty bottle in the dirt and sniffed some Smelling Salts. He rolled his shoulders and unsheathed his greatsword. Looking at Althior, he said: "It's your call, boss." Quote
K-Nut Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 "If you do not wish to kill them all then you must be willing to omit speaking with them all together. They are too far gone..." Althior thought on Nur's words. Perhaps he was right. Some people just wanted to see the world burn, perhaps. Not everyone was as pure and misunderstood as he could have hoped. Not everyone deserved chances, maybe. "It's your call, boss." Althior pondered his options, holding his head in hands. He stared off into the distance. He'd made mistakes in the past, but was this one of them? Did they deserve life? Maybe, perhaps, not everyone deserved the second chance he had been blessed with. Without a word, he made his way towards the gate, attempting to melt the hinges at the expense of one ether. If that did not work, he would attempt to go at the hinges with his pickaxe. He'd had enough of pondering over options. You make choices and you live with them, he thought. If things went south, he'd just have to learn to live with it. It undoubtedly wasn't the worst thing he'd done. Quote

K-Nut Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 As the large green being vaulted over the perimeter, Althior hurried with his melting of the hinges. As he finished, he brought his finger back in pain. he had indeed applied a lot of heat to the gate. He quickly beckoned for his companions to follow him ad he busted through the gates. As they entered the ruins, Althior unleashed his scepter, pointing back and forth between the large goblinesque figure and numerous mutants, having troubles deciding on who to threaten. He eventually settled on the brute. "Back away from the cage, if you'd be so kind. You may carry out your business once we've gone, but I've had about enough of you mutants for a while," "I'm thinking you may have made a mistake, sir. I'm not sure we'll like him when he's angry." Finnegan glanced towards the brute clenching his sword. "Well, angrier anyways..." Quote

Khorne Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 The Nord stormed after Althior and made his way to the cage. "Let's get the boy and the dwarf and get out of here. These mutants and their problems are not our concern." Throlar's face goes white with horror. "Carry out his business!" He shouts, "Are you mad Althor! He just said he was going to kill everyone here, do you want innocents to die? Think of what you're saying for goodnesses sake!" Eric rolled his eyes at Throlar's comment. He detested the decision to come for the dwarf even more than he did at first. Here the party the was and there wasn't a shimmer of gratitude on the dwarf's side. The party was wasting valuable time and consumables and it was all the dwarf's fault. If it hadn't been for the his ineptitude in battle, the party would've never have to come here to rescue him. "Shut it already, dwarf! There's no such thing as innocence here!" Quote

Sandy Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 The party dashed into the courtyard with their weapons drawn just as the mutant leader appeared from his quarters. "Intruders at the gate! To arms, everyone! The immaculate want to erase us from the face of this earth once again, so we must fight back! Take to arms, and I shall call upon our God to protect us!" The werehound began to chant in a low voice. "Back away from the cage, if you'd be so kind. You may carry out your business once we've gone, but I've had about enough of you mutants for a while," The greenskinned giant glanced at Althior and the others. "You don't seem to be one of them. You may help yourselves, just don't get in my way." But the mutants attacked both the giant as well as Althior's party, so they had no choice but to fight them together. PREPARE FOR BATTLE! Khorne Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Eric grinned widely. He was proven right, these people could not to be reasoned with. "That tail of yours will make a nice trophy," the Nord barked as he lunged himself towards the Reptillian Mutant. Fleet of foot as Eric was, he tried to take a swing at the Winged Serpent Mutant, too, in one fluent motion. Eric attacks the Reptillian Mutant and the Winged Serpent Mutant, both from the front row using Godricsleif. EDIT Don't Althior and Nur need a Smoke Bomb if they wish to flee this battle? Duvors Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 "Right, thank you boy, now to see about that Orc-troll-goblin-thing." Throlar returns to the courtyard, joining the battle on the Mutants side. "Keep the hell out of my way, I'm going to kill this disgrace to the Orocund!" Quote
Sandy Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Throlar returns to the courtyard, joining the battle on the Mutants side. "Keep the hell out of my way, I'm going to kill this disgrace to the Orocund!" The mutant boy grabs Throlar's cape in an attempt to stop him. "Don't go there, Mister Immaculate! You're an enemy to the others! There's gotta be some other way to stop this!" "What about me?!" Brock whines. Quote

K-Nut Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Althior looked towards the hostages, who seemed to preoccupied to make their way to the rest of the party. He rolled his eyes as he turned to the rest of the party. "We fight until we can get to them. Then we flee," Althior uses Darkness on the Blind Mutant from the back row. The three undead target the Red Clad mutant. Walbartan attacks Barghest from the front row Battle Order Undead Eric Sarge Walbartan Althior Nur Orokai In case he needs to be in the battle order. EDIT Don't Althior and Nur need a Smoke Bomb if they wish to flee this battle? I believe a smoke bomb lets everyone leave the battle, unless there was a recent rule change I am not aware of. Quote
Duvors Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Throlar looked at the battle before him, and he saw that despite the drawn weapons and angered faces no one had actually injured anyone. "Well that's lucky," he said to himself, "I wonder if this fight can be stopped before it starts." With that thought he began looking through the small pouch that somehow was able to contain everything he wasn't using and that he never remembered coming into possession of, tough it had seemed to have been his from the time he entered Heroica Hall. Discarding this train of thought for the moment he returned to his perusal, and just as that moment he found what he was looking for, taking his Smoke Bomb from it's place. "Excellent." And with that statement he threw the bomb into the midst of the combat. Edited June 11, 2014 by Lord Duvors Quote
Jebediahs Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Battle Order Undead Eric Sarge Walbartan Althior Nur Orokai In case he needs to be in the battle order. Nur turns to the green giant. "Are you really going to let one of us weaklings draw first blood on these 'mutant scum' before you? Sounds pretty cowardly if you ask me. Get in there!" Nur casts a lightning spell at Insectoid Mutant from the back row. Quote
Sandy Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 And with that statement he threw the bomb into the midst of the combat. QM Note: You need to be involved in the battle before you can do that. Quote
