K-Nut Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Althior turns to the entryway to the surface. "Let's get this over with already," He begins to lead the party to Vega. Walbartan heals herself. Quote
Sandy Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 QM Note: The next update will be in a couple of days, since I haven't quite finished building Vega yet (it's going to be such a sight!), and I'm turning 30 tomorrow, so I probably don't have any time to come online due to all the partying. Quote
Khorne Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 OOC: Ooooh, Vega sounds promising! Happy birthday already, Sandy! Enjoy your day tommorow and party hard! EDIT: I'm in Berlin 'till friday so I won't be able to post. K-Nut may control Eric if need be. Quote
K-Nut Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 We're just waiting on an update. Sandy's had a busy schedule these last few days. We'll probably get back up to speed soon. Quote
Sandy Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 QM Note: Vega is ready! I just need to take a few shots and the quest can continue. Stay tuned... Quote
Sandy Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 After an uneventful day of travelling through the strange fields, the party came across the Blood Brick Road, a deep red vein splitting the scenery. Following it to the north, they finally saw Vega, the City of Sin ahead of them. They could see dozens of brightly colored rooftops and flowing flags behind a tall wall surrounding the city. As they approached the city gates, they saw a trio of winged monkeys on guard. On a closer inspection, the largest one turned out to be a Metasimian. "Greetings, travellers", said the winged Metasimian gruffly. "We were just closing the gates for the night, so if you want in, you came at the last minute. You don't want to be out here when darkness falls, for all sorts of strange creatures come out to hunt. The mutants of Transmogria have been especially active lately for some reason, but there are worse things out there as well." The guardian monkeys fidgeted nervously. Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 "Funnily enough, we were just at the ruins of Transmorgia. Our associate here got 'imself kidnapped and we had to save his ars from the mutants. We got away before their god got us and here we are aint we." Quote
K-Nut Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 "Worse things? Oh, I don't doubt it," With the Wolfgang's presence that obviously had to be related to Baba herself, a storm was definitely brewing. "Now, Master Metasimian, we would greatly appreciate it if you allowed us into the city," There was something about the city that seemed odd to Althior. He glanced towards the rooftops, inquisitively. He'd had enough of the strangeness that was Babeleth. Quote
Duvors Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 "Our Emerald Emperor is certainly living up to his name." "Funnily enough, we were just at the ruins of Transmorgia. Our associate here got 'imself kidnapped and we had to save his ars from the mutants. We got away before their god got us and here we are aint we." "Yes, a horrible thing, those wretched creatures do not deserve such a terrible master." Quote
Khorne Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Eric looked up at the many towers and flags of the city that lay beyond the walls. He'd seen and plundered better-looking cities, but this being a god-forsaken piece of land, steeped in magic, it was quite a feat to build anything decent here at all, he thought. The Nord raised an eyebrow though at the sight of the flying monkeys guarding the gates. That, he hadn't seen before. Also, he didn't quite grasp the use of monkeys to protect a city. Eric was sure the apes were no match for his prowess, but the party had seen enough fighting already, so he didn't really care to see if his opinion was correct. "Luckily for you, there are worse things out there than some mutants, otherwise the Babeleth Darklands wouldn't really live up to its fearsome reputation. I've heard a lot of things about these lands, but so far I'm not impressed," Eric bragged arrogantly. "Anyway, thanks for letting us in. We're just a bunch of friends and a dwarf travelling and a night of gambling, drinking, womanising and what have you will be a welcome pleasure and distraction from our arduous journey to our party." The Nord's face clearly lit up from excitement, standing at the very doors of the City of Sin. "Let's hope your women in Vega are a bit better looking than those mutants running about out there. If not, then well, it would seem you actually do live up to your terrible reputation, just not in the way I had imagined." Quote
Sandy Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 "Now, Master Metasimian, we would greatly appreciate it if you allowed us into the city," "Of course. Guards, open the gates", he commanded the two winged monkeys, who swiftly obeyed. "You may call me Captain Buwakhareen. I am in charge of the security of this city. As you may have heard, Vega has lately become known as the City of Sin, so you can imagine that my task is quite a handful. Now, we will close the gates behind you, and they will not open for any reason until tomorrow morning. Have a... pleasant stay in our city." The captain's tone was remarkably dry. The party walked in through the archway, and the magnificence of the City of Sin opened before their eyes. The sky was quickly darkening as the dusk fell upon the city. The crowd was thick, and the noise and colorful lights were bedazzling. There were street performers on every corner, each surrounded by a gasping audience. Seeing the party walk to the main square, a young woman with a blue flower in her hair walked to them. "A hearty welcome to Vega, gentlemen! I am Periwinkle, a local escort, and for just 10 gold, I will give you a tour around the Main Square." What will the party answer? Quote
Khorne Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Eric's eyes opened at the dastardly magnificence of Vega. His wicked grin became even broader as Periwinkle introduced herself. He was not disappointed: the women were indeed better than those hideous, malformed mutants. He rubbed his stubbly chin and cheekily said, "How about no gold and I give you a tour of my main square later on?", he winked, bowed his head in a faux display of manners and added sheepishly: "Miss Periwinkle". His eyes glistened and his ever-present grin took a more charming form. Quote
Sandy Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 "How about no gold and I give you a tour of my main square later on?" Periwinkle blushed and turned her eyes away. "It would be a pleasure, sir, but a girl's got to make a living..." she said softly. Quote
Duvors Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 "How about no gold and I give you a tour of my main square later on?" Throlar winced at this statement."Eric please, focus." "It would be a pleasure, sir, but a girl's got to make a living..." she said softly. "Thank you for that." Throlar muttered in the most sarcastic way possible.""Ignore the bastard, just show us the square and go." he said as he tossed five gold into her hands. "You'll get the rest once you've shown us around, it's an unnecessary precaution I know, but I like to be careful." Quote
Sandy Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 "Ignore the bastard, just show us the square and go." he said as he tossed five gold into her hands. "You'll get the rest once you've shown us around, it's an unnecessary precaution I know, but I like to be careful." Periwinkle looked at the five coins in her hand incredulously, then returned the kind smile to her face. "I am terribly sorry, sir, but the fee is 10 gold. Do you really think I would just disappear with your gold? With the gates locked and everything? My reputation is in line here." Quote
Duvors Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 "I am terribly sorry, sir, but the fee is 10 gold. Do you really think I would just disappear with your gold? With the gates locked and everything? My reputation is in line here." "You are convincing, here is the other five gold." Quote
K-Nut Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Althior looked around the square. Vega was indeed magnificent. The dullness of Eubric had rubbed off on him these last few years; but Vega was not Eubric. He glanced down to the people of the city. They were so, well, different. Of all the places he'd been over his years, nothing was this diverse. He saw the escort coming over and rolled his eyes. He'd had enough of harlots for a lifetime. As Eric began to make crude remarks, he chuckled. He remembered when he sought companionship. Just one more unnecessary string that would end up cut and frayed, he thought. Hopefully, the others would realize that one day. He then watched as Throlar began to bargain the price with the escort. He rolled his eyes and reached into his pocket for the remaining coins, only to see the dwarf fulfill the payment. He looked at the dwarf, inquisitively. Perhaps he was not as idiotic and stubborn as he'd been led to think. Still a nuisance, of course, but he had potential. He slipped the coins back into his pocket and turned towards Periwinkle. "Lead the way then," He forced a fake smile on his face. Though he was utterly disgusted by the harlot's profession, he wouldn't be seen as a slobbering fool like his other companions. Quote
Sandy Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 The escort takes five more gold from Throlar. "Thank you, kind sir. This way, please." Periwinkle motioned the heroes to follow her. First she took them to a peculiar, pastel-colored house with a glittering roof. "Here is Unikitty's Dream Shoppe, a shop unlike anything else. There you can wish for any consumable item in the world, and your wish will come true! With a price, of course. Say hi to Jolene for me if you visit there." She then took the party next door to a house that oddly resembled a bearded wizard. "Next we have The False Wizard, the favourite tavern of witches and magi alike. Drink your belly's full of butterbeer and druid fluid, served along with a hearty laugh from the matron Grimelda." Then they walked to the largest building on the square, which was made from all green bricks. "This is Vega's main attraction, The Emerald Palace Casino. Enjoy a game of Triple Magic or Lucky Clams there, or get wild with the new craze, a card game called Decamon. All courtesy of the Emerald Emperor himself." Finally they came to a stone mansion with a big heart on top of the door. "And our final stop is Château des Coeurs. That is Charisian for 'the Castle of Hearts'. There you can indulge in carnal delights with me or one of my many sisters and brothers." Periwinkle winked at Eric. "Our own Queen of Hearts, Glimda La Rouge, makes sure you will get your money's worth of enjoyment." The escort took the party back to where they started from. "That concludes our tour. If you want a private tour later, you can catch me at the Château. I have to warn you, the fee is not going to be just 10 gold then. Have a wonderful time at the City of Sin!" She blows the party a kiss as she sashays away. "I have to ask, have I died and gone to Helvetia?" "If only my dear Krool was here with me... She wanted to see this place so bad." She blows the party a kiss as she sashays away. Eric was enthralled by what Vega had to offer andeven more so by the carnal delights Periwinkle promised at the Castle of Hearts. Inside he laughed. If the harlot made a lot more than 10 gold the Castle, then surely she could've lived without being paid the 10 gold by Throlar. It looked like the dwarf got bamboozled out of his money. Eric was glad he hadn't opened his coinpurse, yet. The Nord grinned when Periwinkle winked at him. "I might take you up on that offer, you silver-tongued devil, you". "I have to ask, have I died and gone to Helvetia?" "You need to earn a place in Helvetia, you don't just get there by dying. I haven't seen much that'd allow your stay there," the Nord crudely remarked. Quote
