Periwinkle also earns 10 gold through her Money Maker trait. The enemies drop the following loot: Demeter Bomb (Causes 100 wood-elemental damage to all opponents when used.) *Stolen by Sarge* Deadly Venom (Use on a weapon to make it cause the poisoned by 10-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle, making the poisoned enemy lose 10 health each turn. Several venoms can be used to increase the effect.) 2x Feather of Lithe (Makes the user nimble for three rounds, giving them a 1/3 chance to completely avoid rolls of COUNTER and DAMAGE and Free Hits.) 2x Feather of Flight (Allows the user to flee from the battle when used.) 2x Feather of White (Allows the user to hide for up to three rounds, avoiding Free Hits. The effect ends if the user targets an enemy.) As the party freed themselves from the tangled vines and collected their thrown weapons, they heard a swooshing sound above them. Looking up, they could make out a familiar witch sitting on a flying broomstick with a black cat. "I've come to warn you, so called 'heroes' of Heroica", shouted Elphaba, who used to come to Eubric Marketplace to sell her magical products twice a year. "The Wyrd Tree showed me you making a pact with the Wolfgang, and I don't believe you have any idea what you have signed up for. I do not know what the woman you are working for is, but she certainly is no witch, or even a resident of Babeleth. In Eubric, I sensed a much more ancient foulness brewing. If you destroy the Tower for her, you'll be wiping away aeons of history and memories of lives lived, just to protect her secret. For what? A pot of gold and a fancy title? You are despicable!" Pyrovisionary Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Sarge ponders the comment for a moment. "And?" Quote
Khorne Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 "Yes, but I'll be a rich and noble despicable," Eric replied in a somewhat boastful way, even though it wasn't really a fact to boast about. He waved away the importance of the Tower with his hand. To him, anything unrelated to himself, his people land or culture was not important. They say knowledge is power, but it's a hefty coinpurse that puts bread on the table in the real world. "Some dark tower in forsaken Babeleth means little to me." "Do you have a better counteroffer for us, perhaps?," the Nord cheeckily added. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Althior: Feather of Lithe, Feather of Flight Eric: Deadly Venom, Remedy, Feather of White Nur: Venom, Remedy, Feather of Flight, Feather of Lithe Sarge: Demeter Bomb, Venom, Feather of White Althior looks away from the witch. Of course this Baba or Barbariccia or whatever she had called herself was not as she had first seemed. Why would he side with the Wolfgang? Was it simply because of the boy? It was indeed a better reason than his companions motives, yes, but it was still probably not the best motivation. And even if he decided to leave, how would he get to the tower? This was his only course of action. His only sane one anyways. "What do you know of this 'ancient foulness' you speak of?" He looked to the witch with strained eyes. Could he right the wrong of this woman? Could he prevent any further wrongs she would make? "What do you care of Eubric's fate anyways, Ms Elphaba? If memory serves right you haven't shown up to make your sales in a while anyways, and we know that's all that draws people to our great city anyways. If you need further proof of that just look at my companions here," Quote
Jebediahs Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 "Woah there, lady. Hold back your kitty." Nur uses Animal Talk to calm the pet. "Purr trill meow growl meow meow. <I lick cat. Good time, 20 gold.>" Quote
Sandy Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 "And?" "There no 'and'", Elphaba scoffed. "I just wanted to fly over and see if you're really the greedy idiots that the Wyrd Tree showed me. Apparently you are." "Do you have a better counteroffer for us, perhaps?," the Nord cheeckily added. "I have nothing to offer you but my pity. You are all puppets of this Barbariccia, even though you don't admit it." "What do you know of this 'ancient foulness' you speak of?" He looked to the witch with strained eyes. If memory serves right you haven't shown up to make your sales in a while anyways, and we know that's all that draws people to our great city anyways. If you need further proof of that just look at my companions here," "The coven of witches has an age-old legend of an Eatress, a creature disguised as a woman who preys on witches and mages and other people of arcane vocation, devouring their powers to herself. According to what I've learned of this Barbariccia, I highly suspect she might be the source of this legend. Now you see why us true witches want nothing to do with her?" "This is not about Eubric, it has always been just one stop on my travels for me. But do you think this Barbariccia will settle with just one city under her thumb? Khorne Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 "I have nothing to offer you but my pity. You are all puppets of this Barbariccia, even though you don't admit it." "I don't need your pity, woman. I don't need anyone's pity," the Nord replied annoyedly. He hated the feeling of being looked down upon and pitied by someone else. "This is not about Eubric, it has always been just one stop on my travels for me. But do you think this Barbariccia will settle with just one city under her thumb? If rumours are correct, she has lived for thousands of years and has seen - and probably caused - the fall of many nations. The Tower contains the answers to what she is and what she wants, you cannot just destroy it!" "Well then, we'll just find the answer to stop her in the Tower, before we destroy it. Ta-da, we win! We will then have both our reward for getting rid of the Tower and we'll be the only ones with the knowledge of stopping this "all-powerful" witch you are so afraid of. Knowledge which we can then also sell to the highest bidder, of course, or use for our own gain." Eric did some air-quotes to emphasize how ridiculous he found the notion of some all-powerful witch. Then again, he had barely heard of Barbaricca in his lifetime and had never met the woman. He actually had no clue what he was dealing with. "You call us greedy like it something bad. Greed is good. I'd rather be a rich, greedy bastard living the life than be a downtrodden idealist living in some god-forsaken gutter in the Hovels. I take what I want, I'm not some lowly inbred peasant without a spine to stand up for himself." Quote
Sandy Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 Nur uses Animal Talk to calm the pet. "Purr trill meow growl meow meow. <I lick cat. Good time, 20 gold.>" "Mrrrowww! Hisss! Hisssss! [Your insolence will not be tolerated! Once I get free from this feline form, the world will shiver once again before the might of Beelzebub the Vanquisher!]" "Shush now, Beelzie. Mommy is trying to smack some sense into these men. With little luck..." "*growl*" "Well then, we'll just find the answer to stop her in the Tower, before we destroy it. Ta-da, we win! We will then have both our reward for getting rid of the Tower and we'll be the only ones with the knowledge of stopping this "all-powerful" witch you are so afraid of. Knowledge which we can then also sell to the highest bidder, of course, or use for our own gain." Walbartan raised her eyebrows and Hodurr coughed loudly. "AHEM! Thinkin' of double-crossin' us, ARE ya?" "We will all learn the truth about Barbariccia in time - when she is ready to tell it to us. Before that, we just have to be nice children and obey her wishes. You don't want to get on her bad side, trust me." "You maggots... I cannot believe you! I will not waste anymore time trying to sway you, but trust me that the Tower will know you are coming. If you'll excuse me, I have to tend to my mother and brother. They got a few scrapes when they sent your allies running like little girls." The cat in the bonnet spat at Nur. "Meaaaoouuwww! [You will hear from me yet, insolent mage!]" The green-skinned witch flew away on the broomstick, leaving the heroes with the suspecting Wolfgang members. "Will we CARRY ON wiv the mission now, or are ya STILL hatching plans to betray US?" "Calm down, Hodurr. I am sure Eric did not mean what he said..." The pongcanis gave Eric a meaningful look. "My Eric means everything he says!" Periwinkle said, rising to the raider's defense. She then pecked a kiss on his cheek. "You did awesome with that hideous woman, honeypie." Sun started to rise in the horizon. While the other party continued their way to Port Taboo, Throlar woke up in the abandoned tavern in Vega. Roland Emeraldo walked with him to the northern gates of the city. "You just follow the Blood Brick Road north, and you'll be in Fellcrest by nightfall. I have to send you on your way with some bad news, though. Your companions managed to sneak away through a secret tunnel in the brothel. Poor Bufkin gave his life trying to stop them, too. A darn shame, he was such a loyal monkey... The big green guy smashed through the south gate, and the patrols I sent after him and the others came back empty-handed. Glimda is understandably furious, but I've got to keep my head in the business. Musn't let the tourists be rattled by these incidents, so it is best for us both if you just leave and never return. Of course, you'd be eaten alive if you tried to enter Fellcrest by yourself, so I got you a guide." Roland waved his hand, and an undead woman rode to the gate on an skeletal horse. "She might not be the prettiest flower in the garden, but Nazgulie here can arrange you a meeting with Countess Lyudmila." "Greetings, Master Wineghilm", said the zombie woman in a hoarse voice. "I hope you don't mind sharing the road with me. Madame Glimda has decided to close the Château for a while, so I thought I'd return to Fellcrest to see my friends for the time being." Would Throlar accept the undead prostitute's company? Quote

"I'll see you when I get back, Roland", said Nazgulie with an attempt to wink - which was quite difficult with a drooping eyelid. The skeleton horse walked at Throlar's speed, it's bony hooves clicking on the dark red stones of the road. The undead rider looked at Throlar with curiosity. "So, you want to see the Countess. Living people usually want the exact opposite. What causes this suicidal urge, may I ask?" Nazgulie asked the dwarf with a crooked, dry smile. Quote

"Now, if I'm not mistaken, that sounded like a threat," "I do not trust her any more than you do, but Ulric seems confident about this pact of his with the woman, so all we can do is obey. Like it or not." The pongcanis looked really uncomfortable about the situation. "Speaking of which, me and Hodurr are not here just to help you, we also need to ensure you will follow through with your mission. You cannot play with two cards." Eventually the fatigued group reached Port Taboo. It was a drab, foggy little town on a seashore. Even the residents looked serious and sour. "They should drop a syllable from the town's name and just call it Port Boo. Such an offputting place..." "Master Almight's workshop SHOULD be somewhere along this PIER. Can ya SPOT it already?" "Well, you're paying, so I ain't betrayin', if that makes you feel any better. I'll follow through. The Wolfpack's offer entices me." Eric tried to reassure half of the Fearsome Four. "They should drop a syllable from the town's name and just call it Port Boo. Such an offputting place..." Eric snickered at the remark. Its humour was so childish and sort of innocent, he actually thought it was genuinely funny. In a rare, unstaged sudden case of what might be labeled "affection", he briefly pulled Periwinkle closer to his side as the party made their way through Port Taboo. The moment was over very quickly and the Nord got back into his usual cool and aloof posture. "Master Almight's workshop SHOULD be somewhere along this PIER. Can ya SPOT it already?" "Well, you are rather short, so I'm guessing that'll probably be your excuse for not noticing the sticks of dynamite over there. That's probably his shop." Quote

"I honestly have no clue what Ulric knows. He is not the most outspoken person. I've been wondering why he came to salvage Eubric in the first place. There a countless of nicer places in the worlds where to build a kingdom. Maybe he will tell us in time..." The party continued along the pier towards the bomb-shaped sign, when suddenly... *KABLAM!* The door of the shop opened and a cloud of smoke pushed out, along with a dwarf in a big hat. "*cough* Mental note: *cough* never try that combination *cough* again!" "THAT's our guy? Oh CRAP..." In the meantime, Throlar and Nazgulie continued their trip along the Blood Brick Road. The dwarf noticed how fertile and alive the land was, despite the evil magics that had seeped into its soil during the past aeons. They saw no other travelers on the way, though, until about halfway between Vega and Fellcrest. Two figures - one huge and lumpy, the other lean and lithe, stood in the middle of the road. "You should have stayed off the road, Throlar. We would have had more trouble finding you in the wilderness." "Not much, though." "Are these friends of yours, Master Wineghilm?", asked Nazgulie sardonically, tensing up. The skeletal horse stopped on its tracks. Quote
Duvors Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 "Are these friends of yours, Master Wineghilm?", asked Nazgulie sardonically, tensing up. The skeletal horse stopped on its tracks. "Weelll... no. I've met both of them though. I see you met up with this charming lady on the road Orokai, are you still sore over last night? I was going to try to smooth things over I swear. I admit the idea occurred after I walked into Emperor Roland's place but..." He shrugged. "I tend to act before I think. Not that I think that admission will smooth things over between us or anything." He raised his left eyebrow about half a centimeter. "Ah, miss Loc, how lovely you look this morning! And why did you lie to us? That innkeeper was not an assassin and by extension not a friend of the Wolfgang, and I doubt you are a member of the Red Assassins yourself, so what was that little charade all about? How did you plant the letter and the sedative? And how do you justify killing her? Now that I think about it you're probably Wolfgang, and if you are then that bloody drunkard might just as easily be one too, that would explain why he didn't alert the guards. Sooo... you must have met up with my companions afterwards and made them an offer of some kind, and they either agreed to it or you forcibly ejected them from Babeleth, due to what i know of Orokai he would have helped them fight and you wouldn't be here, so they most likely agreed. Unless Orokai was already on your side, and I suppose they accepted, the dwarf isn't here so I would assume he's with them then, keeping an eye on them and all that, and would I be stretching it to say that there's a fourth member of your little band with them as well? Not discounting the presence of a new face here but I don't think that's so, if we've seen three of you already we've most likely also seen the fourth. Is it Warlbartan? She's been prominent enough for it to be likely." Quote
Sandy Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 "How very insightful of you, dwarf. We are half of the Fearsome Four, and we indeed belong to the Wolfgang. What I did and why bear no consequence anymore, because me and Orokai are about to kill you." "Unless you of course want to surrender and return to Eubric voluntarily. Give up this fool's errand, Throlar, like your companions did - you'll never make it to the Tower by yourself, anyway. Just tell your Veterans the mission was impossible. It would be the easiest for all of us." "If you need a hand dealing with these two, Master Wineghilm, just say so. Death threats do not scare me, I'm long dead already." What will Throlar respond?
