Eric got off the boat, soaking up the environment. It had been a while since he last visited this place. A long time, a very long time. He hardly recognized anything. But then again, the Nord had been to many places in his life and he only had the memory of a Human. A Human with a drinking problem at that.

It took him some time but ultimately, Eric decided to go where Sarge and Avalanche were already busy talking to some locals. Eric only heard the last part of the conversation, where the women introduced her friends as the 'Fateful Four'.

The Nord grinned his teeth bare and raised an eyebrow. He nodded in a mocking display. Sizing up the four and then eyeing the woman, he took a swig of Mead and spoke: "The Fateful Four? What a shitty name for sellswords... but hey, at least it's an alliteration, right? If people won't hire you for your sword, maybe they'll let you write a poem instead?"

Throlar, ignoring the argument growing behind him, clambered up the ladder to the red haired man.

"Excuse me sir, but can you tell me what to do with these?" he said holding up the original three cards Jaws had given him, "I've recently come into possession of the three and have no idea what to do with them."

"Don't bother, sir", the pongcanis says, in a surprisingly feminine voice. "The Dockmaster said he was busy sorting out his cards, whatever that means. He told me to wait until he was done, so I don't think you would have better luck with him, either. I take it you need him to open the entrance to the surface as well? I saw you and your friends arrive just now. I've been stuck here for half an hour already."

Althior sighs. He had this nice speech all prepared. He shrugged it off, and began to apply both of his grating stones to his scepter while he waited. He turned to the pongcanis. "So, what brings you to these parts, ma'am?" He glances up to the Dockmaster, "And what type of business could he be conducting with those cards? I certainly hope it's not this Decamon game I've been hearing about ever since I made it in,"

"Mister Dwarf, ye've come to ta right place! I call meself sumthing of an expert when it comes to Decamon in this village. It doesn't please the missus, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, eh?"

The man then goes on into an intricately detailed explanation of the rules of the game.

"...And that's 'bout it! The kids play the game fer fun, but we adults like to spice it up wiv bets of gold. I've heard that in Vega, you can even exchange the cards for prizes! Too bad the missus won't let me anywhere near ta city. That's where this game came from in the first place, if ye didn't know. Too bad you only have three cards, I could've fetched me cards from home and take a match."

Grinning at Eric's remark, Sarge stuffs his hands into the gauntlets and readies for a fight, then attacks Dorothea Canassy (Double) and Loewe the Coward (Double) from the front row!

Suggested Battle order:

Eric: Sir tinkerman

Sarge: Dorothea

Sarge: Loewe

Avalanche: Skinny Joe

The Nord had not expected that the Fateful Four would've been this easily lured into a fight. In fact, he was kind of surprised by the fierce reaction. Nevertheless, he licked his lips as he drew his greatsword. The first fight of the quest, outmanned with a newbie Yeti hero and a cripple sailor at his side. He liked the odds.

"Farfar, I suggest I take the straw man instead of the yeti. I'll be able to take him down faster, then both me and the yeti can turn our attention on the tin man" Eric barked at the old man.

Eric'll do equal amounts of damage to Tinkerman and Skinny Joe, but Skinny Joe has way less hitpoints, so I'll be able to take him down faster. Avalanche has to hold out either way, since he can only do normal damage against both, so I believe it's better for me to go after Skinny Joe instead of Tinkerman. Then, if Joe is down, me and Avalanche can go after the robot. I'm not much of a strategizer, though, but those were my two cents.

EDIT:

Okay, seeing that I'm "party leader", let's try this my way first, alright?

"Bla bla bla boring rules stuff."

"Well thank you, that was quite helpful."

He was just wondering how to excuse himself politely when he heard cries behind himself, turning to see what was the matter he immediately saw his questmates preparing to fight the four people he had seen earlier when they entered the settlement. And there was Eric. He might have known that something like this would happen if he wasn't watched.

"Dammit, excuse me will you? My companions have gone and made fools of themselves."

So saying he leapt from the platform, landing behind the four enemies.

"Turn, good sirs, that I may not strike you from behind!"

"I'm afraid that's what it is. This whole village seems to be enthralled by a silly game of cards. Personally, I don't see the appeal. As for me, I am a druid, on my way to Ozmath Marchlands in search for rare herbs. Walbartan is my name." The pongcanis druid extends her hairy hand for Eric Althior.

He laughs. "It's amazing how much people can act like children these days. Althior, by the way. My companions and I have some business to conduct in Vega," He glances over across the dock to his companions, who have started themselves in a brawl with another group. "You have got to be kidding me," He mutters to himself. He turns back to Walbartan. "My apologies, Walbartan, but this conversation may have to be cut short. Unfortunately, I need my brawling companions over there alive. If for some reason I don't come back to finish our conversation, which the chances of us getting thrown out being very likely at this point, then I wish you the best of luck in collecting those herbs. Perhaps our paths shall cross again,"

Without hesitating, a furious Althior leaps over to the rest of his party. "What part of keep it on the down low did you not understand?" He couldn't tell who were more of children anymore. Those who were playing this game or the members of his party.

OOC: I assume I have to wait until the next round to do anything, right?

Finnegan floats over next to Walbartan, "Howdy there. Sorry about Althior over there cutting your conversation short. He thinks he has some dumb sense of duty to his companions. Humans right? Ha!"

Walbartan raises her eyebrow at the spiritual butler.

"On the contrary. If we cannot trust our companions to look after us, then we might just as well give up." The druid runs after Althior. "Hey, sir! Mind if I lend you a hand as well?"

"Why of course! The more the merrier," Althior is somewhat surprised by the offer. Not often did a stranger ever show kindness to him.

Finnegan stands alone on the other side of the pier. He ponders whether or not to attempt to converse with the children, but decides against it. "Nah, I don't wanna be that guy..."

OOC: If you want to I could keep on attacking Sir Tinkerman, but I'm only dealing one point of damage here so I won't be able to do much. Skinny Joe has no SP so I'll probably have more luck with him.

Why couldn't Throlar attack him then? He's a lower level than me so he won't deal as much damage to the enemies.

Avalanche changes his attack to Loewe the Coward, still from the back row. "Throlar, why don't you keep the tin can busy?" He snarls at his opponent, "I'm surprised you haven't fled yet, Coward. Tell me, how does it feel to be a spineless worm?"

(OCC; Sir Tinkerman is a mechanical type enemy, meaning that he won't be as affected by my Mopagsaber as mush as Loewe or Skinny Joe, both of whom are types that are susceptible to ice elemental attacks, this would mean that my weapon would be doubly effective against them, effectively doubling my current power. At least That's how I read it. Of the two Skinny Joe has less health, but taking out Loewe would effectively nullify one of Joe's specials, which would leave us at least one of his drops, however, Throlar is not anything but contradictory.)

"Arrggh, Just shut up the pair of you!" said Throlar, "I'll attack who I dam well please!"

and with that Throlar attacked Skinny Joe from the front row.
