Losing the dwarven tunnels

Book II - Challenge II – Category A

the complete story

cavern_-_0.jpgcavern_-_2.jpg

Vessla and Okänd are the two half-elf scouts who are send out to investigate the forest to the south. As swift as their feet can haste them through thick thorns, dense foliage, over rocks and streams they map the area. Little activity of the dark blooded are in these even darker woods. Until they take a minute to chow. They overhear the whisper of a language they are not familiar with. Alerted they try to find where the sound is coming from. Not far from where they were taking their brake a large hollow tree functions as a ventilation shaft of one of the larger dwarven tunnels leading in every direction of Hemresa just ten feet under the grass they are standing on.

Fortunately the hole is big enough for a slim half-elf, Vessla being the smallest of the two was chosen to ascend. Okänd can hardly hold the line, but together they manage. Lowered into the tunnels, Vessla is just in time to watch a small army of Drueggar heading to the west. Only a couple of hours away from Hembrugga. He is pulled back up and both haste back to report to their lord.

Very nice entry, I really like those Drueggar and that massive tree!

I can't resist smiling a bit when seeing those Swedish-inspired elven names as well :classic:

Regarding the pictures, I'm not sure however if these pictures are ok as challenge entries because of the following rule:

[...]

No photoshopped backgrounds or packaging, but you are allowed to edit the background to remove distractions.

[...]

I also think that these pictures are not as sharp as they could be, maybe take some new pictures?

I'll provide new photo's next weekend... indeed these weren't all that sharp.

I like The story and The build, one thing that I believe you can do better is some variation in the tunnel maybe some more "rockish" shapes on the wall.

I like the drueggar. I think I commented about the pillars in your other recent thread, but other then them this is really good :classic:

I like it but the comment about being ten feet down isn't backed up by the build.

Cool tree  The Avalonian colors and shield implemented into the base of the build look great :classic:

Cool drueggar, and nice idea with the entrance in the tree. And I like how the tunnel looks, it definitely feels dwarven. Nice job!

Wow, we must have been on the same wavelength or something. The build I'll be posting later for Cat. A is very similar to this in some ways. I like yours, especially the rockwork and the dwarven architecture. Let me know what you think of mine once it's posted!

Nice Moc Narbilu, the tunnel looks great. A couple of things you could do to improve the build might be to texture up the dark green plate at ground level to about 2-3 plates high underneath the tree (assuming you have enough dark green, it's not the most common of colours), and increase the length of the branches on the tree to reflect the trunk girth. More foliage never goes astray either! :classic:

I really like the tunnel and the tree, nice job!

I really like the story for this build, and the scene with the half elf descending into the tunnel really makes it for me. I like the Endor-esque tree, and I love the incorporation of the Duergar. Great entry!

I really like the tunnel you created!! Also a very nice statue :sweet:

Love the tree! Wish I could build one as cool as that.
