your link doesn't work, Brickster...

but set 4778 is on the brickshelf database. according to brickshelf, this a promotional set from the "basic" theme for Dutch Royal airlines KLM, produced for 2005. it seems to be the only promotional basic set for the time being.

I'm totally lost here *wacko*

This set is definitly not a "basic", and is too big to be a promotional set (more than 100 pieces).

You can find the pic here: http://www.brickset.com/search.aspx?Set=4778-1

So what is it?

Good question since I thought TLC decided to drop the adventurers theme for that crappy dino line :-D

Is it possible TLC decided to drop the dinos? and return to adventurers?

Can someone explain this?

It doesn't look very desert-esque to me. I figure its probably just a promotional set and not a new adventurers line... don't want to get my hopes up or my wallet frightened unnecessarily. But if it is a new line, does it look like it is flying over water? Could it be Atlantis?

Steve

P.S. Where is the smiley face for fingered crossed when you need it?

especially the number 4778 is a puzzle to me... other numbers 4777, 4779 are of duplo sets. 4780 doesn't exist. so 4778 seems a stand alone set to me... i think it is a promotional set and not part of a theme. the parts are pretty "basic" as well. this plane is quite primitive compared to other planes of the adventure theme...

A desert theme, you say? did you see the background of this set? there's an ocean! :P

Bottom line: it IS a promotional set only available in some airline companies like KLM.

That would explain the weird set #

So basically no new themes. No need to cross oceans to get to the desert :-D

I hope this set becomes more than a promotional set (maybe a new theme- planes from different countries) - or better yet, a new adventurer theme.

From the back image, it looks even better. I love the storage compartment and the cockpit with fly stick. It has much greater detail than the last biplane, Thunder Blazer (7420).

Neat little set!

KLM and Air France are partners now... perhaps our french friends will be able to get one if they're using Air France as well? Perhaps at Charles de Gaule airport? :oo
