fred67 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Regarding headphones, my son is online playing all the time (sadly after Lego phase), and he's always got the headphones on. As for ratios, of course we can't tell specifically, but it seems to me TLG took the criticism of terrible ratios (6 of one, 2 of others) seriously, since the Simpsons was back to the old counts, where you got three complete sets in a box. We will see when Whitefang posts his review . Edited July 28, 2014 by fred67 Quote
DuckBricks Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Was hoping the space miner would have some reference to M-Tron, but I guess they weren't miners in the strictest sense... However, I am loving how he looks! Quote
Ridge Montante Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 To me this is the best series ever. I want just about every one, with multiples of each. I love how there are so many historical and fantasy characters. I'm going to go broke just on these figures alone. Quote

1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Love the figs! Please Lego, use purple bags already! Then I'll be entirely satisfied. Quote
timmyc1983 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Well, being a city fan, the number I will purchase will be lower, but I can see a use for the Pizza Guy (with so many pizza shops in the city, more staff is always required :-p), the lifeguard will be great for my beach, the rock star will fit my Music shop MOC, the swash buckler will be good for the abandoned gold mine, and the spooky girl, jester and piggy guy just cos they're cool haha :-p and I guess maybe the gamer just for extra town folk.... It looks like a good series though, esp for historical theme folk.... Quote
Dorayaki Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) The Tracker's hairpiece looks very similar from the front to the bun, but it has a long ponytail, and if you look at the picture closely, you'll see that the hairlines are slightly different, indicating that the Genie Girl has the Sumo bun. I would have preferred the Dino Tracker hair, though, since it's more like I Dream of Jeannie. I guess the hairstyle of Genie Girl doesn’t really look like a Sumo bun since the Sumo bun is more smoothy. It may either be a Dino Tracker or Slave Leia one. Of course I’d definitely get the blonde slave ponytail for sure. I knew you'd like it! You're a historical guy, but I'm more of a civilian-type guy, so this isn't one of my favorites. Yeah. I love both, but for a City theme I don't really think the Pizza Guy and new Life Guard are good enough for CMFs. At most they looke like TLM set design quality. Walter Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I'm personally pretty excited for these. It may not be the best series, but there are a lot of them I want! Quote
Kumpelkante Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 finally a nice wave of cmf for castle builders. we get a historic warrior (the "mongol"): nice shield, hat and torso the swash buckler: the hat looks brown: usable in serios settings. the rest works better in funny settings an update on majisto (the wizard): well, why not the amazon: yes, nice shield the jester: hmm one can never have enough jesters, the maiden: yes, there are to few female figs usable in a medivial setting Quote

I think this is a great series as well, but being more of a space guy the only real appeal is the miner for me... Although, being a collector, I'll probably buy the entire series. Quote
Hive Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 A good series, one of the best in a long time. But of course, I'm a history guy... so I'm biased. Quote

She has useful city hair and an expressive face. Quote
SirBlake Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Love it! Again, coming from a historic perspective, so many great choices here. My favorite has to be the princess. That hat/hair piece is great, and it's crazy to think that it took over 30 years to get a good one. The Hun's shield is awesome, as is the greek goddess. I'm not in love with the jester, but the colors are unusual, which is fun. I'll get one just for variety. We've gotten a bunch of blue wizards in the past, but the new conical hat is a nice touch. Still wish it was some sort of sorceress though. Quote
AmperZand Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 LWe've gotten a bunch of blue wizards in the past, but the new conical hat is a nice touch. Still wish it was some sort of sorceress though. We got a witch in Series 2, so I suppose a male counterpart in the form of a wizard was always on the cards. Quote
Tuinman Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 This is a nice wave of minifig. Only two or three I don't like that much. I hope I can get my hands on a few, because these figures are hard to get here in the Netherlands. Quote
Oederland Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Actually I'm a little disappointed, the series is an average one in my opinion . They had great new ideas like the princess, the wizard, and the athena, but the new parts are unsatisfying. Gamer Guy: 5 out of 10. Always good to have another city outfit, but instead of PLAYER they could have used a more iconic print, for example a pacman or a tetris stone Prospector: 3. Why does he have such a weird face? Is this a tribute to some movie character? The body looks like the cheap version of grandpa from series 10. Due to the new parts still a 3. Rockstar: 9. Nothing new, but looks great. Swashbuckler: 6. Might be less useful for army building due to the body print. Jester: 7-8. The cards are a nice feature, and the rhombus pattern on the chest is an interesting idea, also that the belt has been moved onto the leg part. But why always this two-colour left/right pattern. Purple-orange is also somewhat out of place for a medivial setting in my opinion, but the colours look great nonetheless. Princess: 5. Okay if you want a fairytale princess, but not perfectly compatible with a medieval setting, which people might have been waiting for. A simpler printing (maybe together with arms in a second colour) might have been more useful (like the forest maiden from series 9). But okay, it's meant for children of course, so I accept that. The headpiece looks cheap though. I would have prefered something like this (or this, which would not fit with a fairytale princess though). Thus just a 5. Spooky Girl: 3. Actually a fantastic idea, but why did they have to put a spider on it? It ruins the whole figure. Pizza Delivery Guy: 5. The new pizza is nice. The guy is a little boring and the red-green pattern looks weird. They should better have gone with a red-white poloshirt. Maybe the jeans has some interesting details. Hun Warrior: 9. Great body printing, great shield. Helmet as such is also nice, but the horns are stupid. But we have to live with that (like on the vikings) Genie Girl: 7. Nice printings. Will be difficult to use in "non-genie" settings, but together with the surgeon's troursers from series 8 you might get a nice belly dancer girl. Maybe it can also be combined with the female rockstar's leg part from series 7. Male Lifeguard: 9. Okay, nothing new, just like the rockstar, but it's a nice addition to a beach setting. You can't have enough of sexy, trained guy and ladies, can you? ;-) The red binoculars are weird though. Wizard: 5. Too fairytale IMO. You can't use the body for anything else except for a wizard (in contrast to e.g. the Gandalf LotR figure). Similar to the princess I could accept the decision, but the headpiece looks cheap and non-LEGO, so just a 5. Dino Tracker: 8. Not that useful for MOCing due to the green ampoules, but the trousers with side-printing are great. I thought of Hunger Games when seeing the picture. Space Miner: 8. Not sure about it. A heavily armoured miner? Looks great nonetheless. Athena: 3. A really great idea, but the skirt is really really bad. If it is meant to resemble something like this then they just failed. Pig Suit Guy: 9. No use for this guy, but together with the chicken guy the best animal suit figures so far. In conclusion, the series could have been much better by changing a few details (different print for the gamer guy, different colour scheme for the pizza delivery guy, no spider for the spooky girl) and by giving a proper skirt part to the athena figure. I don't know why but the new headpieces for the wizard and the princess seem to be out of place. Maybe it's the proportions. In any case the molds look non-LEGO to me. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) I was wondering if there are any potential soft plastic/rubber headgear pieces. Sometimes they're unexpected like the Judge wig, so I was thinking about it. The Spooky Girl might have one, but I hope not. Any others that could be something other than ABS? After Bofur's hat/hair, the Hun Warrior's helmet looks like it could be rubberized, even though the horns are separate, especially since it has multiple layers of texture and several colors. Missing Brick Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I'm liking the Dino hunter torso and legs for use as Vasquez in my Aliens mocs and as a general purpose military / merc body. Quote

Sir Walter Maugham Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Does the Spooky Girl have a new hair mold? Or is it the same as the Librarian? I can't quite tell. Gamer Guy: 5 out of 10. Always good to have another city outfit, but instead of PLAYER 1 they could have used a more iconic print, for example a pacman or a tetris stone A Pacman print would have ran into legal issues, wouldn't have it? A Tetris-like print using Lego bricks would have been amazing though. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 It's new, with completely straight hair and bangs. Real video game prints would indeed draw legal attention, but a LEGO-ized joystick logo would have been cool. Although Terabyte was toeing the line with his Space Invaders-skull jacket. Quote
rollermonkey Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) Sorry, but as Athena is a warrior goddess, using the skirt block for her here would have been a major FAIL. How does the street date for CMF usually work? Is it a strict Oct 1, or will they randomly start showing up in stores before then? Edited July 30, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) It's not really Athena, though, although she is the closest goddess that matches this depiction. She seems to be an RPG-style concept, generically-named "class" of character with Greek influence. If it were truly Athena, she would be wearing armor, not a tunic, her shield would have CMF Medusa's head printed on it, and an owl symbol would appear somewhere on her ensemble, and she would be brunette, but her hair wouldn't even be outside her helmet. Athena was tough. This is a pretty Greco-Roman lady with 3 pieces of war equipment. /rantover Then again, her bio might be riddled with Athena references, so maybe LEGO really dropped the ball with their mythology and this is supposed to be her. Edited July 30, 2014 by 8BrickMario Quote
rollermonkey Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Whether she's a goddess or a warrior, in either case the typical solid block skirt would have been a mistake. Quote
Yooha Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 This is closer to a skirt than to anything else. And she usually doesn't wear armor, the hair color cannot be seen on sculptures (are there any paintings left from the ancient greek era?), so for me, the LEGO form is a quite good interpretation of her. Anyway, I guess she is just a typical ancient warrior goddess and not a certain one. She is just closest the Athene than to anyone else. Ahh, these are so important questions! Quote
