AmperZand Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 (edited) This Wizard also can double equally as an Arthurian Merlin... Indeed. He reminds me of Merlin from Disney's The Sword in the Stone: And Merlin as depicted in this cover illustration by John Howe of The Once and Future King: Edited June 3, 2014 by AmperZand Quote
Arigomi Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) If you look past the name for a moment, the Dino Hunter looks a bit Lara Croft like to me (latest game). Espescially the hair! Thank you. The argument for the Dino Tracker being inspired by Katniss falls apart if you don't account for the Dinosaur connection. Lara Croft works much better because one of the signature weapons in the most recent game was a bow. Furthermore, Lara Croft has fought dinosaurs (raptors and T-Rex) in the first Tomb Raider game. Due to critiques about animal cruelty, Lara Croft also has access to a tranquilizer gun in Tomb Raider Underworld. Thus, Lara Croft is easy to adapt into a character for the dinosaur themes that LEGO has made in the past. I have high expectation for the pizza delivery guy. I remember sometime last year talking to people in my LEGO store about a pizza delivery guy for CMF since the classic pizza tile is in need of a update. The classic pizza tile was made yellow due to the limited amount of colors in production. The things you could do with printing was also limited at the time. These days, tan is a standard color and printing is much more detailed. A new mold for a pizza is unnecessary. A 2x2 round tile will suffice. This leaves more money in the budget for creating a pizza box that could have other uses. Edited June 4, 2014 by Arigomi Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 This leaves more money in the budget for creating a pizza box that could have other uses. I strongly doubt either. He will have a 2x2 white tile as a pizza box, no 2x2 round pizza imho. Quote
Yooha Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Maybe a pizza box that can be opened, similar to a suitcase? But a 2x2 tile for a box AND a new pizza in tan would be good also. Quote
David Thomsen Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) I also think it would be great to see a piece similar to the book or suitcase that can be opened to store a 2x2 tile, but I think it's more likely he'll just have a 2x2 printed tile for a box, and maybe a new pizza piece. I'm not sure if a special pizza box piece would have many other uses anyway. Edited June 4, 2014 by David Thomsen Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 The only problem with the book is that it can't be held well and that all of them look like ancient tomes due to their size. A pizza box would be welcome, but a tile box and tile pizza would be fine, too. He would probably use a cap for headgear. Quote
jluck Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I strongly doubt either. He will have a 2x2 white tile as a pizza box, no 2x2 round pizza imho. I doubt he'll only have a white tile, that flies counter to all the CMF has been about. At the least it will likely have a printed 2x2 tile, which is what I expect, and an old pizza tile. Quote
Blakstone Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I think we will get a new pizza print as well as a 2x2 tile print as well. I suspect that LEGO will use the upgraded pizza tile in future sets. The CMF line seems to be a great way to pay for new molds which makes it into other themes. The Santa Claus minifig print is now the standard in the City advent calendar. There might be other examples that I am unaware of. If I really like the pizza delivery guy, I will have to get a moped to drive near my modular collection. If I don't, I get to save $4 or buy another Hun warrior. Either way is a win for me. Quote
ThiagoMaster Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Wooow great minifigures on that picture. I'm anxious to see what's coming! Quote
Gomek Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 About the Graeco-Roman figs and aesthetic, I think the general consensus is that it's the opposite, i.e. that a new theme is not coming soon. The CMFs are a way to release figs the designers couldn't make otherwise. Plus, if they wanted to make an antiquity theme, they wouldn't release the minifigs as part of the CMF line, but keep them exclusive to the antiquity theme to ensure better sales. So the more such figs I see, the less hopeful for a theme I actually am. I would have said the same thing until the Monster Hunter theme came out. That one had a lot of figures from the CMf series. Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Monster Fighters was odd. Its sets took influence from Studios and the monsters were darker redesigns of the lighthearted CMFs. Quote
Chimp Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Liking what Im seeing so far. This wave has a princess, jester, and wizard; so hopefully that means we're getting king or queen with a new crown mold (not to fond of the existing crown). The space miner reminds me of the protaganist from Dead Space, and I agree with the dino tracker resembling the newer Lara Croft. The gamer is a little disappointing; i dont like the "player 1" print on the shirt. The battle goddess looks great; though I wish the spear was all gold. The swashbuckler has great torso printing and is a way of getting the hat I missed first time around. Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Where would we get a queen? There isn't one in the series, and a new tiara isn't likely yet. Quote
Ardelon Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Im really hoping they dont do something that would mess up the army-building potential of the Hun, like give him a gold helmet or weapon or something like that. Quote
AmperZand Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Im really hoping they dont do something that would mess up the army-building potential of the Hun, like give him a gold helmet or weapon or something like that. If TLG went with a gold weapon, my guess is that it would be a new colour of an existing part in the same way that the Swashbuckler's rapier is a new colour of the Musketeer's. If that's the case, you should be able to pick up extras of the original colour on the secondary market for your army. Quote
Ardelon Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Probably, but the elven sword and the PoP dagger show us that "normal" colors arent always an option. Yes, this is a CMF, so any new molds should be available in regular themes in the future, but the army building potential of the Hun would still suffer. Quote

Do anybody think about the hun sporting either this: or this: The second one looks very likely to me. Quote
fred67 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) I haven't looked through all the pages of this thread, but these are a few screengrabs from the game video TLG has posted online, and I'm wondering if they are potential figures. The guy in the red mask: figure1 by FredJH, on Flickr The only figure there... looks like Plato or something: figure2 by FredJH, on Flickr Sort of a male Medusa: figure3 by FredJH, on Flickr Two horned guys, center screen: figure4 by FredJH, on Flickr You'll want to click on the images to get the bigger ones. And the trailer, of course. Edited June 9, 2014 by fred67 Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 That top figure looks like the old Islanders mask. I believe they gave us the newer Islander in one of the more recent series to update that figure. I could see that second one becoming a figure. When I first saw that picture of those horned orc like creatures months ago, I was determined to buy up every last one of them in the stores. But looking at the list, I don't think they fit into any of them, unfortunately. Quote
Walter Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I'm liking what we can see of the series 12 figures so far (I've avoided the list of what they are - but when I heard there were some pictures of them I gave in to at least see the photo!) The wizard's hat does look a little odd though. I don't mind it being brimless like that, it's just that something feels off about it. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 These will never me made into figures because they are not "heroes" figures. I would love to get them though. I want that baby dragons badly. Quote
Shakar Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) That wizard is awesome. I've been wanting a blue wizard for a looong while to renew the legendary Majisto's looks a bit. I love the Battle Goddess as well but I'm not sure if she could fit my Legoverse. Really looking forward to the Genie Girl. Edited June 10, 2014 by Shakar Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I like that first one with the green Inferno hair and claws. What is it? Quote
Yooha Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 That green flying goblin reminds me of Rumpeltiltskin. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Thank you all very much for the pictures, links and information! After 1-2 series finally again a "normal" Minifigures Series! The list sounds really promising and the pics we've gotten so far look great, too! Space Miner No interest. Wizzard Nice design. He looks more - like others already mentioned - from a fairy tale. Dino Research Woman I'm really disappointed about this figure since it's fantasy styled. I in contrast hoped for a scientific with a magnifier and a dino's footstep in cement. Battle Godness  Simply perfect! Swashbuckler Nice design, but nothing that attractive. Video Game Guy Great design with the two-colors-sweat. I hope that there'll be a printed hoody on the back. I'm excited how the other minifigs will look like! Klaus-Dieter Quote
