Gamer: Pretty bland, but the sleeves are good. Is that a USB on his leg?

Yes. It looks like a typical USB drive with a switch instead of a cap. You can see the what it's hanging from connected to his belt as well. Also, are the insides of his pockets showing? Plus, the controller is just weird. I don't why they wouldn't just make a new piece but perhaps it kept the cost down. I'm still going to get him though being a big gamer like I am. Perhaps I can find a custom Lego piece to replace that 1x2 plate that is his controller.

I also want to see this Pizza Delivery guy. This should make the community happy as it is another worker they can add to their towns! I just hope he isn't as bland looking as the Gamer is.

Edit:

Dino Hunter has a lot of similarities to the characters in the Dino Theme a couple of years ago, and the Dino Attack/2010 Theme from 2005.

I was hoping to see something from the Dino Island Adventures Theme then then I saw the female character and was disappointed.

That's what makes it obscure as a tie-in, since the Dino theme wasn't too successful and no longer exists. The Hunger Games vibe is most likely intentional, with the Dino title as an excuse.

Is that a new helmet on the space miner? The ray gun in orange is new too I think.

As for all the Greek and Roman figs we are getting, its possible that the LEGO designers want to do a Greek/Roman styled theme (and have wanted to for a while) but have thus far been unable to get it green-lit and have therefore been trying to fit Green and Roman themes into other places (e.g. the vaguely Greek/Roman architecture in that Atlantis set and all the Greek/Roman CMFs we have been getting)

Yep, the helmet is new.

About the Graeco-Roman figs and aesthetic, I think the general consensus is that it's the opposite, i.e. that a new theme is not coming soon. The CMFs are a way to release figs the designers couldn't make otherwise. Plus, if they wanted to make an antiquity theme, they wouldn't release the minifigs as part of the CMF line, but keep them exclusive to the antiquity theme to ensure better sales. So the more such figs I see, the less hopeful for a theme I actually am.

The Wizard's hat is new, not a reuse.

Ah, you're right. That's nice, though I'm not sure whether I wouldn't prefer TLG to make the most out of old molds than waste money on nearly identical new ones.

Battle Goddess is almost perfect. I love her but I have always felt a special connection to Athena. The only thing I would do different would be to have the Medusa head printed on the shield. The Pegasus print is not true to the myth. But I think kids would understand it better. I would probably get multiples for the shield and helmet pieces. I also need to keep one together. My profile pic is a purist custom of Athena.

Swashbuckler is also very good. I want at least one to keep intact. If it was not for the price increase I would buy as many as I find for the parts.

I agree that the wizard is too stereotypical for my taste. Still I want at least one. I might get a second one if I like the staff.

I will use the Gamer Guy as a Scott Pilgrim purist custom for sure.

I hope to skip the Space Miner and the Dino Hunter. It seems that many like it but they would not fit with my historic, Lord of the Rings, fantasy, town, and superhero focus.

I will want to see the jester, princess, and Hun warrior.

I am utterly astonished that they seem to have snuck in a Hunger Games type fig, and impressed at how they did it while managing to avoid the whole messy "child killing" issue.

My guess is that this is a non-licensed attempt to capitalize on the Hunger Games, and the tranq gun would negate that.

Probably, the tranq dart was an afterthought to make the character different enough to avoid copyright issues, along the tacked on 'Dino Hunter' title.

That's what makes it obscure as a tie-in, since the Dino theme wasn't too successful and no longer exists. The Hunger Games vibe is most likely intentional, with the Dino title as an excuse.

It has nothing to do with that. The name is correct, Dino Tracker. All I can say is she fits in with the MMO, as they all do.

It is no coincidence those six are being shown together. Funcom previously said each world in LEGO Minifigures Online will have a hero minifig and be represented in the CMF line. Mythology, Space, Pirate, Castle and the Hub are all confirmed worlds.

They all look amazing to me.

This does look like a good series so far! Loving the Gamer Guy especial, but the Space Miner and Wizard are really cool, too. The Dino Tracker is much better than I expected. I've never had much interest in the "warrior" CMFs, and the Swashbuckler is meh for me.

The Dino Tracker's torso could also be used for a Toxikita henchwoman from the current UA line, as it has the green vials her other two henchmen share (although they have round bottles).

Posted

Forgot to mention, if you compare the Dino tracker with the 2012 Dino theme, she is a perfect fit with the other figs.

Like the Hazmat Guy and Alien Queen were Alien Conquest designs that were never used I am guessing the same here.

If you look past the name for a moment, the Dino Hunter looks a bit Lara Croft like to me (latest game). Espescially the hair!

The Goddess and Swashbuckler are awesome.

The gamer guy is obviously the twin brother of the DJ

I would have been thrilled to see the Space Miner in M:Tron colors. But I still like him. New helmet, space armor in grey? What's not to like?

Classic space logo with a drill instead of a space ship?

Dino Tracker: Eh... not quite sure about this one. Although I like the hair, I find the inclusion of a bow and arrow puzzling. What use would that be against a dinosaur?! I would prefer a baby dino as an accessory instead.

Dino tracker: Well now we know who the 5th female is. I wonder why they didn't give her a tranq gun, it would make more sense than a bow. Just to reuse the bow mold?

Lego or someone in figure design is doing a clever wink and nod call out to Katniss, the heroine of the Hunger Games novels and movies. The bow is pretty indicative that that was what they were going for. Except instead of tracking and hunting other children, the Lego one is hunting dinosaurs. So Hunger Games meets Jurrasic Park. (Now that I type it I realize that I would probably pay to see that.)

The colors threw me at first. But while not M tron, they are actually pretty close to the color scheme of Rock Raiders, who would be the Lego Universes Space Miners.

To me it looks like he might have some bulky handheld systems shoved in his pockets, like the original Game Boy, PSP, or Nintendo DS. Although that may just be from my experience as primarily a handheld gamer!

Unlike a lot of commenters, I'm fine with the printed tile as a gamepad, since really even a new mold would probably be insufficient—it'd be hard (maybe impossible) to do a realistically-sized controller that can be held with two hands, given a minifigure's limited poseability.

Love the other figs too. The swashbuckler's pretty much exactly what I wanted him to be (hat, rapier and open, flowy shirt). The Space Miner looks great although he doesn't seem to draw from either M-Tron or Rock Raiders like I hoped. Dino Tracker looks great, too—I didn't expect a female fig but I think it's better this way. Battle Goddess is awesome, and I love the skirt and the sandals. And finally, the wizard looks amazing and dispels any doubt I may have held that such a common character type for Lego would have trouble standing out.

The Goddess is definitely Greek-inspired, but really not Athena to me at all. She has no owl motifs, and I never thought of her as a blonde, and she would wear armor, i.e, a specific Athena character would look more like Blakstone's custom. I wonder what her bio says about her, though. At least I'll have someone to be the cause of Medusa's monstrous condition!

Agreed. I've always thought the CMFs were a great way for LEGO to make figures that wouldn't really fit anywhere else, but just added to the character subthemes to create the groups. Of course, certain pieces and minifigures are carried over to mainstream sets, but most of it is an opportunity for minifigs and pieces that don't go elsewhere.

Aw, man, I'm a sucker for anything relating to Classic Space. Might have to get a few of these now. Hopefully they look better in person!

The Wizard is simply wizard. I like the gamer as well. Always good to have more face options when making myself in LEGO form.

The "Dino Hunter" wouldn't have a bow if she wasn't Katniss. It's actually pretty funny.

I hope there's more of the new short sleeves in the remaining figures to be revealed.

So far I like the dino tracker and the and video game guy. The two-color arms are nice.

But the space miner is a great disappointment for me. I've been waiting so long for a new Sci-Fi minifigure. I was hoping for nice astronaut with classic space logo, a female blacktron villain or something like that. So I don't like this space miner at all. The color scheme is so ugly. With a better color choice, this could have been a cool reinterpretation of M-Tron. But this way it is just ugly. :sceptic:

I agree very much on the Miner. The only good thing is the helmet. I was personally hoping for a more "industrial" look, that drill thing looks like Barbarella's hairdryer. The uni-horn is ok, but it should have gone on something like this http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2516. And I think the body armor piece is a total miss for a Miner.

I expect the Pizza Delivery Guy will have two-color arms for short sleeves, and probably the Genie Girl, too, if she's similar to I Dream of Jeannie,. Now we need this technique to migrate into the City theme for even more.

As a collector of historical/fantasy/mythological minifigs, I'm really excited by the names of the forthcoming CMFs and the images we've seen so far. The wizard (Merlin), Greek goddess (Athena) and swashbuckler (Will Turner) are all 'must haves' and the jester, jeannie and hun sound like they will be too.

When I read that they were doing a new wizard, I was concerned that they were replacing the classic wizard's hat. But having seen the image of the new wizard, I have to say I'm relieved. He certainly captures the archetype as well as or even better than the old wizard. I always pictured wizards in long robes but TLG has previously normally (maybe always?) given them articulated legs. It's good to see one in a gown.

@8BrickMario, Great use of the new wizard's picture!

I'd be pretty pleased if the Pizza guy had ginger hair, blue trousers, and a red jacket. Maybe instead an update or a reference to Pepper from Lego island? Other than that figure, the Hun warrior, the prospector, the rock star, the detail under the armour on the space miner, and the lifeguard are the stuff I'm most interested in seeing pictures of.

I wasn't expecting pictures so soon - I quite like the fact we haven't seen them all at once as I like seeing the new figures so we'd have to wait ages for Series 13 (hopefully another regular series).

Space Miner - I don't really have much use for this as Sci-Fi is not my priority and this doesn't fit in with any Space theme I'd create if I was going to focus on one.

Wizard - As a traditional costumed character, I knew a wizard would be introduced to the CMF series but often wondered how to make it different from the old Castle line, especially once Gandalf was released. I like the detail on this one and hope the face will be good beneath the beard for re-use.

Dino-Hunter - my biggest disappointment really. I knew I wouldn't be interested in the Space Miner, but thought the Dino Hunter had potential to be more of an explorer figure. The bow is pretty ridiculous and the best part is the legs. I'd have much preferred an Adventurers-style character, with a better jungle accessory.

Battle Goddess - A really nice-looking figure. I do hope we get a lot more Mythology figures in future lines to complement each other.

Swashbuckler - I really like the torso and look forward to seeing more Pirate MOCs, with a more 'loveable rogue' character rather than the usual cut-throat or bumbling pirate villains. It's a shame they didn't add a parrot (a blue version of the classic red one).

Gamer - I like his torso but the face is spoiled by the open mouth, which is a shame as I'd like more figures with glasses. I'm not fussed about the controller but it's nice to have more generic townfolk.
