I'm Crowley," he says to Matthias. Matthias smiles at the Watchman's description of Thistlethorp. "Well, congratulations on your recent induction to the Watch. I suppose this must be your day off - or are you drinking on duty this early in the day?" the gnome jokes with a laugh. Turning towards Crowley, his curiosity peaked by meeting a member of an organization he's never heard of - so new to Freeport! - Matthias asks, "Pleased to meet you, Morrison, Crowley. I've heard twice now that many in the service of the city have a low opinion of Heroica. What are your thoughts?" Quote

But, as you can tell, I too have many friends, and I too will take the measures required to keep myself safe." Taking a quick glance at her party, Purpearl notices Nerwen as she joins the bar where Matthias' at, who seems to enjoy this time conversing with the others. Matthias wonders briefly what it would have been like to be the only man (gnome) on a quest with three... well, with two Ladies and one lady of negotiable affection. A tiny flush of embarrassment rises up the back of his neck but the mead quells what little social awkwardness the gnome might have felt. Quote

"Just out on patrol - the Watch just kind of wanders the streets of Eubric, looking for trouble, unless we get a request. It's not the best system, but hey, I've only been around for a few weeks, so what do I know?" "You can't be too surprised that the Watch doesn't love Heroica. After all, Heroica is a group of people for hire - it's hard to trust a group like that. The people of the city respect heroes as if they are an authority, for the most part, but that doesn't mean they are. They do the Watch's job sometimes, and they can do it poorly." Crowley shrugs. Zepher Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Alexis pokes her head outside, and sees that while the clouds have started to recede a little the wind has gotten shockingly cold and the sky remains, patchy. A ray of light lands on her face and she feels a little warmer. The heroes have just settled down when suddenly there is the sound of shattering glass and smoke fills the tavern. People cough and cry out... but when it disappears, no one has fled, like is usually the custom, but the heroes have instead been joined by a hoard of unfamiliar faces. The pale female standing on the table glances around. "Heroes," she says cooly. Then she takes hold of Aventine's hand, and from her back wings burst forth. She grabs hold of the Mopag to her left as well, and she flutters out swiftly through the broken window directly above her. "Evel," she calls out to someone, assumedly, "take care of them. Slow them down. The rest of you, with me." The Orc and werewolf toss the Viking and Armored Women through the window, and then the werewolf helps the Orc up as well. He turns swiftly to the heroes. "She left me behind because I'm the most challenging. See, I was part of the Wolfgang, but they were a little small minded for me, so I-" he stops himself. "Ah, what are we talking for?" Chromeknight Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Beasts are best fought with fire, and fragileizing that werewolf would be a good idea. Purpearl, we have plenty of strikers, perhaps you might try sealing or blinding a target. Also, if Alexis is first in the order and a wolf is untargetted, it will fall to her counterstrike. > Nerwen - mourning star vs. Evel. Does Matthias' canon count as AoE? In Evel's special, do you mean ecliptic (path of sun across sky) or eliptic (having the shape of an eclipse)? No stress either way, it's just the ex-astronomer pedant in me wants to know! I can offer anyone my Sword of the Red Lizard if they want to use it... but leaving a Direwolf untargetted just means that you're sending more low level heroes to die against Evel (since he can one-hit Matthias, Purpearl, and Ruffers+Pigley). Purpearl, we have plenty of strikers, perhaps you might try sealing or blinding a target. Does casting scrolls give you a chance to be hit by Damage/Special Damage? That's why I didn't put Fragile vs. Evel for Purpearl - as noted above she can't survive a hit from him. If scroll-casting is safe, Purpearl should go second in the battle order. StickFig Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) But XX should use that nifty dagger on Evel. I don't think so... if he uses the dagger, he fights as an Alchemist, giving him only 1/3 chance to even do damage. With the cannon he's doing lower damage but has 1/2 chance to hit. Even if he uses Bombard, the only effect the bombs have is to add elemental damage to his attacks - his attacks shouldn't hurt the party no matter what if he doesn't actually throw the bomb, as far as I can tell. Using a scroll does not roll a battle result. No chance of shield or special damage. Also, does not count a targetting for free hit purposes. I have put Nerwen as first in the BO instead of Purpearl just to cover our bases (still a possibility that spawns will cause free hit in this round). As for the scrolls, I am easy on any, but I've decided to go Scroll of Blindness because Alexis decided to attack Evel at the front (trying to negate any potential damage if Alexis gets a bad roll). Scroll of Sealing wouldn't do much as Evel doesn't cast spells. Circumstances might change as we go on, so I will just leave it as it is. "Quick, we must catch up to him!" Alexis swings her fan at the werewolf from the front row. OOC: Masked, Evel is immuned to Darkness but your fan has Darkness in it, so it would not work against Evel. Zepher, can we get a ruling on whether XX's bombs will hurt the party if he attacks as Cannoneer and rolls Shield (Barrage) or Bombards and rolls Critical Hit or Hit? According to the Cannoneer rules, only the elements associated with the bombs affect the outcome of a Barrage/Bombard roll - no other effects of the bombs are mentioned - but we don't want to all die .
