soccerkid6 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 This is my Category A entry for Team Simon. Credit for the tree design goes to Mark of Falworth. Sir Glorfindel had sent two of his scouts ahead to try and find how far the Black Spire had advanced into Avalonia and the best place for an attack. The scouts were walking through a forest when they heard some noise not far away, the two men quickly swung themselves into the branches of a nearby tree. They were barely out of sight when a Drow and Orc commander stepped into view. The two imposing figures then discussed their attack route on a nearby Avalonian city. The route they chose would take them right through a ravine perfect for an ambush. The scouts listened carefully then told Glorfindel of all they had learned. C&C welcome Quote
Gideon Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Nice tree! Those scouts blend in very well among the branches Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I didn't see those scouts to start with! Well camouflaged. How does the tree technique work? I can't figure this one out! Quote
Tomsche Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) I think I do, wizard wands and staves with those 1x1 `clamps` on them, then the leaves inverted on the underside of the stud right? Guessing by what I could see above the scout with the brown hood (right above his back) Edited May 28, 2014 by Tomsche Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 Nice tree! Those scouts blend in very well among the branches Thanks Gideon, I was happy with how well hidden the scouts are I didn't see those scouts to start with! Well camouflaged. How does the tree technique work? I can't figure this one out! Here's a link to a tutorial for the tree, it's a pretty neat design: link I think I do, wizard wands and staves with those 1x1 `clamps` on them, then the leaves inverted on the underside of the stud right? Guessing by what I could see above the scout with the brown hood (right above his back) You're pretty much right, see the above link for a tutorial Quote
Emma Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I love how out of place the Drow and Orc look amongst the greenery and flowers, lol. Bad guys seem to have a tough time blending in in Avalonia. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Thanks SK! Pretty simple, but so effective! Quote
Davidbarrena Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Nice tree, and great figure "posing" (I didn't see them in my first look) :) Quote

I love that tree for sure! Thomas of Tortuga Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Really nice angles on the tree! I think the ground might look just a bit better with some different shades of green, though, to keep everything from looking the same color. Quote
MassEditor Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Cool scene! Those scouts are very well hidden! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Great job with the tree! Thanks Torgar Really nice angles on the tree! I think the ground might look just a bit better with some different shades of green, though, to keep everything from looking the same color. Thank you, I almost used a second green in the tree to give some different shades, but ended up just going with the flowers and mushrooms for some variety Cool scene! Those scouts are very well hidden! Thanks Quote
