I find EB both similar and different to other sites. I'm familiar with the blocker/protector combo from games on Mafiascum.net...

Bob, you shouldn't have outlined your original plans. Now you can't use them in another game!

I think I might be retiring the Excalibur theme for awhile. At least until Excalibur: Explorer, in which the ship is sent 80,000 lightyears from Earth by the Purists.

Night Actions:

Night One Actions

Lego3364 – Block: Emily Goodwin / Dragonfire - Success? Dragonfire is killed anyway

Lego Spy – Kill: Emily Goodwin / Dragonfire - Success

Comrade Commander - Rolecop: Fred Rhodes / adventurer1 - Success, adventurer1 is the Loyalist Investigator

Night Two Actions

Lego3364 – Block: Fred Rhodes / Adventurer1 - Success? Adventurer1 is killed anyway. Another case of the scum teams weird block - kill maneuver.

Comrade Commander - Kill: Fred Rhodes / adventurer1 - Success

Thanks for a good game Bob!

Was fun to play scum. I was really shocked to see a Cop role on the evil side, but hey I will take what I can get.

I was convinced Adam was the Vigilante which is why I advocated to keep him alive. The vigilante played well into the scum's plan.

We really did get lucky that first night, between killing the Blocker and finding the Investigator. Just wish we could have monoplized on it a little more. One more night without having to give up the investigator slot would have been nice.

On that note, in the quote above you said that it was a "wierd" to kill & block a player. Wouldn't make sense in the given situations? The first night was luck/slight confusion both killing and blocking the defender, but the second night we new that Fred was the investigator.

Thus we blocked him so he didn't have the chance to scan one of us, and then killed him to ensure no more scans on following nights. If we hadn't blocked him, and he found one of us, he could have very easily just sent a blanket of PM's to everyone. Since the town knew he was good, they would trust him and we were screwed. Same with Emily, had we known she was the blocker, I woud have done the same in order to prevent her from messing up one of our moves.

So this begs two questions, 1.) does a kill negate the night action? (aka: had we just killed Fred, would he have still gotten to scan someone) and 2.) can a night player block the same person twice?

Probably should have clarified these earlier! haha

Right, but he could have PM'd people from the grave. My understanding was that he could not post in the game room, but was free to PM as desired.

Thus if he did get a positive result on the night we killed him, we would still be vulnerable

A kill does negate the action. He would have scanned someone, but never would have seen the result of the scan. And yes, a player can block the same person constantly.

Right, but he could have PM'd people from the grave. My understanding was that he could not post in the game room, but was free to PM as desired.

Thus if he did get a positive result on the night we killed him, we would still be vulnerable

If Adventurer1 had PMed someone from the grave, she would have failed instantly and most likely been unable to play mafia on Eurobricks.

haha, guess we should have clarified that then! But on the second night the only real person to block was the vigilante and we didn't want to do that :)

Either way, that is good to know and thank you for the information

Kind of related, but not really... I think there should be a wiki with all the possible roles outlined and a general listing of rules.

Would save a lot of explanations, and allow new players to transition a lot quicker.

Just my thoughts!

All games are a little different depending on the host. EB rules are also rather specific to EB. That said, most of the time, people here refer to the Mafiascum Wiki when looking for general concepts and types of roles you might see.

Yeah, that's what I thought. He'd be banned.

I don't know if she'd be banned from the forums, but it wouldn't be pretty.

sometimes the neutral third party players are a Cult. A cult can recruit one player every night, but if their godfather is killed, they're disbanded and sent back to their original teams or are killed, depending.

What kind of insane host would use a cult?!

I'd say she'd be banned from playing Mafia games.

Just in interest, has anyone ever been banned from playing Mafia games on EB?

By the time Fred would have received his result, he'd be dead. So nobody would ever know.

Which would have been very good for Jordon (Fred dead) since I (Fred) was investigating him on night two. And no I wouldn't have PM after being killed because I knew the rules. However if I had gotten the results before dying then yes I would have sent one PM off to Adam if that was legal, I planned on checking with Bob first.

This has been an awesome time. I wish you would have another Excalibur game soon. It would be fun for all of us to put what we learned in to practice. Like we graduated the academy now we are on a starship an a mission.

Grades:

Your grades are determined on a number of factors, but mostly based on if I feel you're ready to move on. Please don't take these grades personally.

A Pass means that you understand the game and that I think you'll be ready for a veteran/advanced game. However, I might add a little comment afterwards advising you that it'd be smart to play another School. A pass is your ticket into advanced games and means you can sign up for one.

A Fail means that I don't think you quite understand the game yet, but it might also mean that you didn't have enough time to prove yourself yet. It also means that you must play in and pass another Mafia School before moving on.

Without any further delay:

You were unfortunately killed off on Night One by the Vigilante, but you made enough relevant contributions during the time you had and also on the writeboard to show me that you have a solid understanding on the game. It's always tough to grade people that die during the first day cycle, but I'll give you a Pass with the recommendation that you play another Mafia School before moving on to the big leagues.

Emily Goodwin - Played By: Dragonfire

You were another Night One kill, but your contributions during the day and after your death were very good and sound. You also recognized and stopped a bandwagon and produced lists of suspects. I give you a Pass as well with the same recommendation that you play another School game before moving on to veteran and advanced games.

You seemed very eager to learn. You were always asking questions and trying to learn, but you never really seemed to grasp the concept of the game. It seemed like you also skipped reading the lessons as well sometimes. You also didn't quite get the idea that sometimes you'll have to sacrifice a member of your own team. You defended Lego Spy even as nobody else did, which mostly outed Comrade Commander. Your final mistake was not voting on Day Three, which not only gave you a penalty but also sealed the deal for your eventual lynching. I'm going to have to unfortunately Fail you, but I highly recommend that you play another Mafia School when the next one comes around.

You're very lucky that Dragonfire saved your butt on Day One! You almost seemed like you were giving up defending yourself on Day One, but then you stepped back in and survived until the end. You seem to get the general idea of the game, so I'm going to Pass you.

Greg Kennedy - Played By: Lego Spy

You played rather well as a scum! You were pretty lucky with your decision to kill Dragonfire on Night One. You tried very well defending yourself on Day Two, but alas you were lynched. I'm going to Pass you with the recommendation that you play another Mafia School.

Willie Spencer - Played By: Tohst

I joked to myself that you were the fourth member of the scum team. You were unfortunately really bad with your kill decisions, but during the day you were pretty good. You also communicated with at least one other player, so you understand the theory of communicating outside of thread. It's just a shame that you were such a bad judge of character! I banged my head onto my desk when I got your Night Action PM for Night Three. I'm going to Pass you, though, with a warning to all future hosts never to make you the vigilante again.

You were unfortunately the first day lynch! It had to be someone, and it's just a shame that it was you. You seemed to understand role-playing very well, but from the looks of it I'm not sure if you get Mafia itself yet. You didn't really defend yourself that well, but then again you probably didn't have that much time. I'm going to have to Fail you unfortunately, but I highly recommend you play another game.

Emma Lane - Played By: vampyre78

You did pretty well for your first game. There's not much to report on, but you were always on time, presented your opinions, and seem to grasp the idea of the game. As a result, I'm going to Pass you, but also recommend you maybe play in another school before moving on.

Fred Rhodes - Played By: Adventurer1

You had the misfortune of being role-copped on Night One. When you were alive, though, you were doing well. You branched out to the player that you cleared through investigation, which is always a plus. It's always smart to start a town block. You were also very active during the deadboard. You also asked many questions, which is a major plus. I'm giving you a Pass.

Jeff Yates - Played By: Getdamonkey

If I could pass you with honors I would. Arguably one of the stars of the game, you fully understand Mafia. Everyone thought you were the vigilante, which was good because it took the heat off of the read vigilante. It's just a shame that you were killed off by the scum. Not only did you reach out to at least one other player that I know about, but you were very active during the day threads and you were pretty good on the writeboard. I think you're really ready to move on to the big games. You Pass.

Security School:

Timothy Daniels - Played By: Calanon

You survived pretty far throughout the game. It's just a shame that you were killed by the vigilante, but you still did a pretty good job. You were pretty active, but I don't know what you did outside the day thread. I think you fully understand the game pretty well, so I'm going to give you a Pass.

foster.jpg

Jordan Foster - Played By: Comrade Commander

The other player that I would graduate with honors! You did a really good job on the scum team, and it looked as though you were the leader of it. You came up with all the ideas for the scum team as well. During the day threads, you managed to cast suspicion off yourself pretty well to the point where people in the deadboard thought you were town. I'm going to Pass you, of course.

Thank you all for playing in Excalibur: The New Generation Mafia School! It was a real blast playing with all of you, and I hope to play alongside you all one day in a real Mafia game.

If you'd like any further feedback then just ask!

Posted

Thank you for the feedback! Can't wait to try another one, this has been a blast! I found that most of the game this time was in the pm system, I had threads with 4-5 different players, discovered our vigilante, our investigator, and most of my suspicions throught messaging. Really fun, on several levels.

Posted

Thank you Bob for a great game and the feedback. I'm so excited to play another game. :D To my fellow players, can't wait to see you all in another game. Thanks for all the fun!

Posted

Thanks for the feedback! I'm probably going to not wait for another Mafia School and instead just sign up for the next advanced Mafia game that comes up. I do feel I'm ready.

Is it possible that we could see the scum writeboard?

Posted

Thanks for holding this school Bob. I really enjoyed it, and it sounds like everyone else did too. I hope to improve on the points you made, in the next Mafia School.

Posted

The scum didn't have a writeboard. They used the PM thread that I set up for them.
