Hi everyone, here is my latest creation De Luca's menswear!

It is a 4 storey building with a store for stylish menswear on the ground floor and several apartments in the floors above. It fits exactly onto two 32x32 baseplates.

I wanted to see how interesting I could make a predominantly grey based fascia as I have done mainly white/tan facades most recently. I figured enough texture and occasional colouring could bring it to life.

I also wanted to experiment with an idea I had to make a different shape of apartment by hinging the bedrooms for access. It's pretty sturdy with a couple of hinges per wall for reinforcement but it did limit the colour palette slightly. Sadly no bathrooms this time but thought the spacing and shape would allow for kitchens easily enough.

The building is based in the early 1960's for reference. I wanted to make furniture from a different era than I usually do. The vehicle is an American style sedan. It took a lot of fiddling to get the rear wheel arch to line up perfectly!

I couldn't quite get good light for pics of the bedroom interiors so ill probably post all the furniture separately in the future.

Comments and questions welcomed!

I just saw you posted this on Mocpages, but I will just comment here :classic: Looks great, the outside is impressive, but I think the interior is my favorite part. Really nice work on the kitchen, and the furniture is great. I love the light blue sofa :classic:

Mind! Blown! Again!

This is beautiful. The facade is understated and elegant and the color palette you've used is perfectly balanced. And as for the interiors - they are superb. The designs for the furniture and the attention to detail is fantastic.

I'm running out of superlatives, but tip of the hat to you Snaillad. Excellent job!

Very well done. I like the hinged bedrooms on the interior. Great use of space while limited the visual space to make it look more like an actual building.

I'm always impressed by your builds and this doesn't change that fact.

The grays work really well here. And it definitely looks more realistic than the bright modulars. Although I do love the modulars for those colors.

I've never been a fan of open-backed Lego buildings, but your buildings make me reconsider this! There is so much to see, and everything is so pleasing to the eye. And everything looks perfect, as if it just had to be this way. Great moc!

Excellent build snaillad. I wish I had your collection of bricks to build with :) the outer facade is understated but when one looks closer there are far more details. I like how a few parts give it that extra bit of texture. I'm assuming this building is on two 32x32 base plates? I really love your buildings!

Everytime...everytime you post something it makes me feel a mixture of happiness and sadness... :sweet::cry_sad:

Happiness in the joy that your MOC's bring...I can't even start on how good your work is....one of my favourite Lego builders :D easy!!

And sadness in the fact that you have all the lego in the world

Superb

Once again an amazing MOC, snaillad. And your fondness of art deco - that doesn't bother me. It's an interesting style.

Just like with Barrie's Department Store, I also here like the double walls giving space for other colours inside the building. I like the different interior styles, you have made in the flats, eg. a more dark and heavy style for the older couple in the red flat and a more light style for the younger couple in the white flat.

I think the grey facade works very well. With the two shades of grey and the white and gold details it does not get too dull to watch.

As I said on Flickr: This is incredible. But we're used to that from you :)

I love the De Luca sign, the font is wonderful. The whole facade is imposing and still very pretty, but again it's the interior that stands out. The way you've applied different colours and details to the three apartments is clever, they really look as if they've been finished by three different people/families. All in all an amazing build. Do you still have your other similar MOCs intact? A picture of them all together would be nice - if you have room to put them anywhere for a photo, that is. They're quite big :)

Thanks! The light blue sofa is stable, but was a bit awkward to make. Thankfully you can't see the back of it!

Cheers! It was a challenge to myself to work in grey's but I found subtle colour highlighting and varied textures made the facade look more interesting but still realistic.

Thanks Wodanis and gazumpty However my collection of bricks is not as large as you think. They all fit in a have to fit in an refrigerator sized Ikea unit  I wish I had room for more! Yeah, it is built on a couple of 32x32 baseplates.

Thanks Laka I like to recess the windows in most MOC's I build so having double wall thickness lets me place the windows nicely in between for better texture whilst it hides the transition between outer and interior colours nicely. It's been a little while since I did flats so it was great fun to build some new furniture styles.

Cheers L@go! The only MOC I have previously made thats intact is the Monde cinema. Usually I dismantle these buildings as they are large, heavy and use most of my brick collection. However I had in mind a grey facade for a while so I didn't need to destroy it, but if I had before I started De Luca's it may of turned out so differently! Maybe ill try and get a shot of them both before I dismantle it!

I love the watch dice! Great idea!

But there' so plenty of details to analyze!

Great modular.

Wow. Its incredible. Awesome.

Superb build snaillad, so much to look at and admire. Aside from the awesome building, I really like car out front :classic:

Fantastic modular building! :excited:

The facade of the building is really impressive!

I love inner details ...the first floor is the one that I love the most!

This is just stunning.  Absolutely love the facade and the interior detailing is just mind-blowing!

what to say that has not been written up to my comment :classic: well, great

PS is anything missing?, if I spend hours inside the store

Amazing build as always. Very impressive and inspiring

Gorgeous!

Beautiful colors, style and architecture in line with your other modular. Excellent

Wow, another impressive building.

Both the inside and outside are sublime.

Mind! Blown! Again!
