legotrainfan Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Maybe someone among you can help me. I have a new computer and use Windows 7. When I read someone's post, I would sometimes like to quote it. I click on "Quote" but it doesn't work. There is no quoted text. I have no idea why. Since I am talking about computer problems, I feel tempted to add one more annoying thing: I live in Austria, where German is spoken. And whenever I write something on this forum, nearly everything is underlined read. Words are suddenly capitalised. The same happens when I write English mails. The German error correction pogramme works annoyingly well, but I have no idea how to change it or switch it off. I use Office 2007, by the way. Quote
Gatanui Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) You may want to turn off the spell checker in your browser settings. Spell checking isn't system-wide and each program can implement an own version so you have to turn it off for all programs individually if it annoys you. What browser do you use? -Gata Edited May 30, 2014 by Gatanui Quote
Rufus Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Which Browser are you using? I seem to recall problems with the quote function on one of the Internet Explorer versions. I'm moving this to Website & Forums ... where there is probably an existing discussion with which I'll merge it when I find it. Edit: There's a thread of Internet Explorer problems here; though nothing specifically about quoting issues. I'll keep looking. The solution to the other problems seems to be to enable Compatability Mode on IE for Eurobricks. Quote
legotrainfan Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 Yes, I use Internet Explorer. Thanks to both of you for your comments. Quote

Edit: Using Google Chrome, I've just quoted another user without any problems. Edited May 30, 2014 by legotrainfan Quote
N-4K0 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I have Windows 7 and use Google Chrome and everything's fine to me Quote
weavil Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 In my opinion use Chrome instead of IE. I have Win 7 on two computers that have no problem doing anything, yet IE has problems with more and more websites. More and more websites are changing over to HTML 5, so IE version 9 or lower hang trying to load a page. A good example is Foxsports.com. Quote
legotrainfan Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Yes, using Google Chrome seems to be the easiest way to circumnavigate that problem. Thanks, folks! Gatanui, thanks for answering my pm and telling me how and where to switch off the spelling checker! Quote
