June 30, 201410 yr Hey, great review, thanks very much for sharing. One thing that intrigues me: from the concept art of the combined Ghost/Phantom it appears the Phantom docks nose first into the Ghost, it's engines exposed and aligned with the Ghost's own engines. I've not seen this anywhere else, but given the Phantom can be split into 2, can the rear section alone be docked with the Ghost, engines outwards, to give a more authentic representation of the combined ships?
June 30, 201410 yr Interesting, I don't recall seeing the rear of the ghost in much detail in the brief shots I've seen. But that would make a lot more sense, I did think the docking port Lego made was rather off, and the scale of the two ships bug me, the canopy windows on the Ghost are tiny compared to the Phantom! I'll have a play around with both sets later, see if I can turn the Phantom around. I'd love to see the Ghost made to scale with the Phantom. Might have to buy a second Ghost to see what I can come up with xD

Actually there's a blink-and-you-miss-it shot of the phantom docked, cockpit facing rearward in the trailer; The lines of the ship(s) just look a lot cleaner than TLG's version. June 30, 201410 yr I've attached the image I'm referring to below. You can see in the top left image the exposed engines of the Phantom. The Phantom's build makes more sense to me if this is an option too; both it's hind section and the rear compartment of the Phantom appear to be 8 studs long but I can't be sure as I don't own it... until tomorrow.
June 30, 201410 yr I'm probably in the minority. I actually love some of these type ships. The clunky old freighters and some of the more distinct oddballs from the EU and not simply the classic OT ships. Stuff that looks great parked next to the MF. I love the Sith Fury and the Jedi Defender (OK the Republic Striker is a resounding MEH!) I wish they would have done more along these lines. Stuff like Dash Rendars Outrider and the D5 Mantis from SWTOR. Or the SWTOR Smuggler ship. I love 'em, too (I even like the Striker--in 'A-wing' mode; wings extended, I get the "meh!" feeling as well). The Mantis feels like a Firespray/Slave-1 precursor, the smuggler's ship is obviously heavily Falcon-influenced. My biggest problem with the ships in TOR is that the interiors were scaled waaaaaay up for playability, so they're far too roomy. The tallest Wookiee wouldn't have to worry about bumping his head in the doorways. Anyhoo, the Ghost & Phantom are musts for me. I'll need to rebuild my 7965 Falcon to get it set up next to the Ghost in the near future!

Yeah, honestly I'm not surprised I missed something! Still, does that mean in the show the Phantom can dock either way? Anyway, with regards to modding the Phantom to fit it in the opposite way, I've had a play around and it wouldn't take much effort at all. As said, the Phantom splits in half, making it easy to just turn around. The issue is the difference in scale between the ships is even more noticeable with only the Phantom cargo attached, though. The rear of the Phantom lacks the 4 1x1 slopes that blend the two ships together when docked the opposite way. The Phantom doesn't really have much storage space in the back, either. So I'm thinking making a custom Phantom from scratch might be a better idea. I'll take a few photos tomorrow, it's too dark now! Also, I don't think I said Phantom enough there... it's a tad awkward describing the two ships in the same sentence xD Edited June 30, 201410 yr by Mahariel
June 30, 201410 yr The sets look great! Although I'll probably wait until I actually watch the series before buying either of the sets.

I love starfighters as well but the medium sized frigate types are the most satisfying in Lego form and make great display pieces.
July 20, 201410 yr D***.......I bought both loose.....for more. @GrooveBricks FollowFor all you #StarWarsRebels fans, there's a new LEGO Super Pack that features the two new Rebels sets! UPDATE: This combo pack will be available at Toys R Us and carries a $109.99 price tag.
July 20, 201410 yr i like the minifig printing better this way , for some reason i cannot stand the cartoonish look of the whole " the clone wars " animated look
July 22, 201410 yr Am I wrong in thinking that some of those small cargo holds on the top side (extra weapons, etc) on the Ghost look like they could be modified deep enough to place a few minifigures? Great looking sets and figures. Thanks for the terrific review and photos. When it rains cash... Also regarding the Phantom: what are those drop-down panels on the sides, does this ship have souped-up jammers or a cloak* or what? (* I know, no ship that small has a cloaking device.)

Also regarding the Phantom: what are those drop-down panels on the sides, does this ship have souped-up jammers or a cloak* or what? (* I know, no ship that small has a cloaking device.) I am planning on making several mods to the Ghost, one of them being the top side compartments into some kind of interior. Ideally I would like to make a couple rooms from the actual Ghost design, maybe the living quarters. At the least I will make more sitting areas and/or passenger seats.
July 23, 201410 yr So I finally built this one last night. Not a bad build, but not a perfect set. Pro's; Great Fig's Lot's of Space. The Ghost easily has room for the full main cast to sit or stand inside looks good (if overly colorful) Con's My only major con is that holding it and swishing it is more than a bit awkward for me, with big adult sized hands. The ship is thick, with lots of odd angle plates not held on by much. So the grab points are few and far between. What points there are invariably run afoul of the spring shooter missiles should you have them loaded.
July 26, 201410 yr im personally not a fan of neither of these ships. Don't get me wrong im actually looking forward to Star Wars: Rebels im just not a fan of the look of these ships. The figures on the other hand i actually really like specially the New Animated StormTrooper.
July 1, 20186 yr Im disappointed in how the phantom fits in. Isn't it supposed to go in head first and not have 2 laser cannons sticking out of the back?
