My 42009 had the separate instruction books so I haven't seen the new single-book instructions. Do the new books stay open on the table or do you need to prop them open?

I read all review, Jim you have done fantastic job  I like that kind of reviews with great looking pictures.

For me must have are bucket and 4 yellow rims. I like other stuff too but those parts I have few of them (4 servos, 3XLs, 2Ls etc. and tons of yellow liftarms) but despite that great to see XL again. And everything is fine except price... We have to wait for some kind of sales to get it in more resonable price

Very nice review. Now i really have to get it.

Hopefully this set will bring down the prices of the XL motor since i need about 8 of them :P

Gotta say, this loader is pretty awesome. Like the review says, I'm not keen on the front end. But everything else is impressive, like the bucket and full RC capability. :classic:

I still think it's a bit pants that we don't get instructions for the B-models in larger sets, even the flagships. :hmpf_bad: Wonder why LEGO started doing that?

Still a great set though.

Obviously to save cost and paper. It's no big deal to download them anyway.

I know all things are subjective and we're all entitled to have our own opinions on things but for the life of me I don't understand how the people who rated this set as poor/below average/average came to that conclusion.

In my most humble opinion it's flippin' awesome!

Here here totally agree. There normally people who like planes and motor bikes lol

Agreed. Although I'm not sure yet if I'll be buying the loader, I think it looks at least Above Average.

Fantastic rewiew!! Thanks a lot!

I really like this set, but for the high price I would have liked, or at least hoped, the package contained rechargeable lithium batteries and not the usual classic battery pack :sceptic:

Excellent review and lesson, I'm definite getting one of these for the electronics and rare parts,

How does the articulation mechanism work and are those black cams rare?

To be honest; not sure why they used the cams. Any other 3L would have sufficed (if I am not mistaken). Maybe other members know why?

I cant think offhand of any other part with three axle holes in line, all the others have a pinhole or two.

Its a good set, but there are some sloppy things such as M motor being attached with only one pin, the 4L axles with stops not being fixed in the rear and such.... Still should be fun for kids to drive around and dig.

True!

The Ultimate L350F needs some redesign in the front!

To be honest; not sure why they used the cams.

Maybe the B-model needs them. Hard to say without its BI, though.

One pair of the black cams is necessary I think, because they are rotated by the servo in the middle crossholes.

Wouldn't two thin 3L liftarms suffice?

Edit: middle cross holes...hmmm....late me take a look

You are right Nico!!

The axles are connected to the middle cross hole

This is the case where size doesn't matter! I mean looks huge, sure, but nothing special. I simply voted it as average. It's indeed to early to judge it.....once I'll build it I'll be able to say something more. So far looks like the front it's "sorry we didn't have the time to complete it",

The front buchet arms looks so fragile, where in reality it's probably one of the strongest metal part you can find on such a big loader!

As technical development looks very poor compared with the 42009, therefor the price it's not worth. Even to assembly it won't take it more then 4 hours I guess!

I'll buy a couple of sets as I always do, but I'm not expecting too much from what they call "big daddy" of this year!
