Great review, thanks!

The comparison with 8265 really shows how big this beast is!

I was thinking to build it using my own parts but now I am sure I will get it for my birthday in november.

Using the wheels and bucket from 8265 does compromise th design too much.

4 hours here. The build seems pretty straightforward, way easier than 42009, for instance.

Hey you already made it! Why is the video so far away?

After reading this review a second time, iam not sure if i buy this set at release date or if i order only the bucket. I have my replica and my big bucket loader. So why a third?

If you are not into "collecting" sets than the bucket will suffice. Or wait till you find a nice discount somewhere.

Excelent review Jim! Realy enjoyed it and looking forward to get this beast! Looks realy fun to play with and offers an excelent selection of parts.

Two questions;

-Does the servo motor turn 90 degrees left or right or is it limited in any way?

-Does it come with v2 receivers? (couldn't realy see it in the picture)

I think the servo turns 90 degrees (need to check) but there are two tow balls limiting movement.

The box says V2, but I received older versions (part number 6039826).

I'm not allowed to publish it before June 15th. Have patience, it's less than 2 weeks and I promise it will be worth it.

Looking forward to your video review!

Thanks for excellent review!

At the first videos it seemed that this model not only steered sharply but moved forward-backward very fast too - is it true?

And one more question - did you tryed to controll steering and moving with RC train unit with speed control?

Great pictures and review Jim.

Thanks Edwin! That's why I needed some frontpage space today

Forward and backward movement is not too fast in my opinion. I could make a video, but let's keep the video for Sariel, who does a great job in making video reviews!

I haven't tried the RC train unit. Can give it a go somewhere this week.

Excellent review. I don't think my budget will allow it this year.

The designer behind this model is Uwe Wabra, who has designed other great models like the iconic 8258 Crane Truck and the 8258 Crane Truck. It took him about eight months to design the Volvo L350F.

I think one of them should be 8285 Tow Truck.

When I buy this I plan to use the Train controller for drive and steering which gives much smoother stop & starts, with a normal contoller for the other two functions.

Did that with my Block Setting Crane for travel and slewing - more realistic.

Excellent review!

Great pictures and very well written!

From what I have read, I might need to reconsider my opinion about it..

I don't have high hopes for the train controller. In my experience the slow reaction time ruins the whole thing. I was hoping for a new controller, similar to the current one, with a sensitive level, which would allow you to steer at smaller angles also, and drive it with slower speeds. Am I right that it is something which is technically possible?

Of course! My bad. The link was correct, but the description was wrong.

Great review Jim.

Definitely going to buy this set. Any idea how it compares scale wise to 8043 Excavator or Dozer (B Model), not as in overall size but are they made to the same scale ?

Great review, nice pictures and good description. For those considering power functions it's worth buying, it comes with about £80 worth of power functions.

Great review and crystal clear pictures! I wasn't sure whether to get the loader, but you got me with this picture:
