June 9, 201410 yr Author This MOC has made the Yahoo! news feed in the US. Congratulations, Jerac, you're getting your 15 minutes of fame! :D Do you have a link? I cannot find it :)
June 10, 201410 yr Well, it's been picked up by CNET now, too. http://www.cnet.com/...ur-darth-heart/ Gizmodo http://lego.gizmodo.com/the-biggest-most-accurate-lego-imperial-star-destroyer-1585399306/+kcampbelldollaghan BGR News / via Yahoo News http://news.yahoo.com/incredible-star-wars-star-destroyer-model-built-40-192527244.html;_ylt=AwrBEiJEg5ZT9GQAOa_QtDMD ...and slashfilm http://www.slashfilm.com/lego-cool-stuff-star-destroyer-ghostbusters-city/2/ Edited June 10, 201410 yr by rollermonkey
June 10, 201410 yr I'm sorry for my brief comment, but the MOC is so amazing I haven't even been able to process its pictures properly!
June 13, 201410 yr Having seen some preliminary photos of this but now seeing your more in-depth photos, still doesn't do your creation justice! The LED lights will be an amazing addition. This is simply one of the most brilliant Star Wars Lego MOCs created! Now sure if this has been asked but how much did you have to spend to create it? I am still trying to figure out how you knew where to use the grebbling around the Star Destroyer Mark II?
June 16, 201410 yr I have been to a few Lego Star Wars exhibitions, and seen many great models, but this is certainly the most breathtaking creation I have ever seen. My endless congratulations to Jerac and any who helped make this masterpiece a reality.
June 17, 201410 yr Uhh Jerac, this is a Lego forum, why are you posting pics of one of the miniatures used in filming the original Star Wars movies? But seriously, at 10 feet away I probably wouldn't be able to tell that your ship is made of Lego. Bravo man!
June 17, 201410 yr Isn't the ISD Chimaera Grand Admiral Thrawn's flagship? Edited June 17, 201410 yr by Nom Carver
June 18, 201410 yr I applied but I was to arrogant and stupid, which normally I'd immediately realise... but I was so excited I didn't. Another sad tale where a man ruins his life by being stupid. Oh well. You should apply again. How could they not give you a second chance after seeing this amazing ISD? ;)
June 18, 201410 yr At first I thought - another one with lot's of nerves to do something that big in LDD, and a pretty realistic render too. But then I was like ... wait, it's real LEGO?! I too think that this is one of the best and biggest creations that I've ever seen. Although it's like 99% LBG it still looks awesome. Maybe some DBG in the greeble part that are not so exposed would bring some color deviation in the model but still this is a true masterpiece and a very accurate replica of the real thing! Congratulations for this achievement!
June 21, 201410 yr I am becoming so blue because it takes my breath away... Congratulations ! Astonashing...
June 21, 201410 yr What a fabulous model! I'm utterly impressed! You say you calculated the number of certain pieces you required beforehand - did you design the entire thing (in LDD?) before you started building, or did you just estimate the number of parts needed and effectively design the model while you were building it?
June 24, 201410 yr Author What a fabulous model! I'm utterly impressed! You say you calculated the number of certain pieces you required beforehand - did you design the entire thing (in LDD?) before you started building, or did you just estimate the number of parts needed and effectively design the model while you were building it? I tried, but my computer couldn't handle it. Long beams made of pieces were actually bending which caused problems when trying to join something together. I actually did a little more, but not much... anyway later I tried extrapolating amount of pieces required based off this LDD model, but I failed miserably. Even if the model was finished it would not help me at all, because finished one, the one shown in this topic, is completely, 100% different. I guess no pair of pieces is connected the same way like it is in LDD model :D In fact, even such basic thing as direction of building has changed: my model has SNOT-bricks' studs facing the spine, and the LDD one has them facing the front, which is much less durable. Proportions are wrong in almost every dimension, too. And not by few percent, this LDD model would be 1-meter wide, should be 1,32 meter wide and is 1,25... I guess skill with real bricks does not really help with digital designing ;) Thanks everyone again! I am surprised by longetivity of this thread! Who knows, maybe it will survive long enough for second tour of presentation? :D Edited June 24, 201410 yr by Jerac
June 25, 201410 yr Thanks Jerac. I can imagine that certain problems arise during real-life construction that wouldn't have appeared in LDD, given the software's unavoidable but inherent shortcomings such as ignoring the effects of gravity. Once again, you did a terrific job. I'd love to design and build something like this some day.
July 5, 201410 yr Hi Jerac, What an amazing building! This Version oft the ship is great. For me,it is the best lego SW ever! LG KevFett2011
