Jim Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 "Could this be on the shelf of my local LEGO reseller and would I but it?" Minor typo there :-) Otherwise the instructions seem fairly straightforward. Thanks allanp for preparing that picture. Would it be possible to include the number for each entry in the picture? Perhaps also include the compilation picture in the voting thread? Owen. Typo fixed! I can include the picture in the voting thread. If Allan manages to update the picture, I will update it too. Bit of a shame I don't qualify to cast votes. I hope everyone doesn't struggle too much with deciding where to place their 20 points Since you are contributing to this forum and not just joined to vote, I hereby whitelist you to cast votes Quote
allanp Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I've updated my post with a numbered picture. Quote
AKM_76 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Sorry, but I still don't understand where exactly I can actually vote? And how to spread 20 points you mentioned across 'all' entries which are much more then 20? Edited: find almost all answers, except one - when we'll be able to vote? Jim Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 The voting topic is open!!! Thanks for the image Allan! I have included the smaller version in the first post. It's clickable for the hi-res version. Maybe next time we can add a column (5 instead of 4) so it won't be so long. It's a bit long for a frontpage post Quote
jantjeuh Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Damn, that was tough. 20 points is not enough for 57 entries, should've been more like 60. Looks like 31 is already pulling ahead though, deservedly so IMO. Edited August 3, 2014 by jantjeuh Quote
pint14 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) I am a bit dissapointed that u made 1 big pic about all the entrys. If i would have known that, i have made totally diffrent promotional picture. ATM its hard to distinguiash my pic.... . But still i think u have made wonderful work with the contest! I think its proves my point that 0 points over 2 pages. Edited August 4, 2014 by pint14 Quote
Blakbird Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I wish I had 57 points to distribute so I could give one to every entry. I completed my vote (at great difficulty) and keep going back and looking at it with regret because I wish I had given some points to another entry. Quote
Omikron Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I am a bit dissapointed that u made 1 big pic about all the entrys. If i would have known that, i have made totally diffrent promotional picture. ATM its hard to distinguiash my pic.... . But still i think u have made wonderful with the contest! I agree. IT'S AWFUL idea to make one "big" picture. What was the point of having 1024 pix promotional picture if it would be resized to something so tiny that it could be hard to identify the entry, not mentioning that one does not even see the details and and functions. I'm not even talking about how this might affect voting. Compare these pictures: Promotional image: You can see all the details, functions etc. Voting image: Can't see anything. Why on Earth would someone who votes bother to go in 3 different topics (contest topic, entry topic, voting topic) to collect all the info about the entry? Nobody does that. People just go to voting page, look at the image and decide how to vote according to what they see there. Very very poor decision. Quote
Appie Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I agree, some people put in a lot of work on their promotional image (mine is 'ok') and the compilation picture doesn't do it justice at all. And like Omikron said, nobody is going to look in 3 places before voting, especially with 50+ entries. I understand that you don't want 50+ images in your voting topic OP, but linking the list of entries to WIP topics would make it easier for people to look. Quote

Nobody does that. People just go to voting page, look at the image and decide how to vote according to what they see there. Very very poor decision. I respectfully disagree. The combined image is not supposed to be the only thing people look at to assign votes - it's something to allow you to see all the entries side-by-side for comparison, and help you remember which one is which. You can't complain that people can't be bothered to go to three different topics to decide how to cast their votes, while at the same time advocating for removing the one feature that means they don't have to. Also Jim: I've noticed that not everyone is consistent with the formatting of the votes - sometimes there's a space (or two) before the colon, sometimes there's two (or zero) spaces after the colon. I'm sure you're already on top of it, but it may pay to make sure your regex can handle it. Quote
Bzroom Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 It's useful to me as a quick way to match up the entry Id's. I'm still going to scroll through the entry thread to make my voting decisions. The small collage is only a helpful quick reference, not meant to be used for final judging. Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) I looked in several places as I was voting... It took me the better party of 30 minutes to vote. I looked at the 57-in-one image to make a list of entries I either was considering voting for, or I couldn't make out anything of the model and hadn't read the individual topic. Then I looked at every entry in the entry thread and added some I'd overlooked and removed a couple others from my list. I looked at a couple individual topics, too. Then I allocated points evenly... And then added one more, and reallocated points. Then another, and realized that it was 21 points... and rather than knock them all down from 3 points, took the last one back off. Then I looked at them all again and was really wanting to have 30 points, as there were so many good ones that I couldn't give points to! I hit submit, mostly in frustration that there were so many great entries. Edited August 4, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote

I will remove it from the voting topic. Don't worry about the spaces etc. I have made sure my software does a decent job Edit: Removed the compilation image, to avoid further confusion. I agree, some people put in a lot of work on their promotional image (mine is 'ok') and the compilation picture doesn't do it justice at all. People need to scroll through the entry topic. That's why I let you create a nice promotional image and give a short description of the features. Thinking that people won't take the time to look at all the entries is a rather strange assumption (imho). Quote
Jim Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 The following voters didn't allot all 20 points! Erik Leppen Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Why exactly is it bad to not allot all 20 points? I mean, why is there a rule about that? Quote
Jim Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 Because I thought it would be a nice rule If you don't agree, feel free to discuss it in the Future Contest setup topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87063 Quote

pint14 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Eventhough the all entrys picture is not meant for choosing your favorites, i am pretty sure that alot of people still make their desicion based on that(but not all). Quote
