Buy them while they are still available! I got confirmation from my local LEGO Store that the Monster Fighters Haunted House and been discontinued. No new runs, no nothing, to be sold until they run out!

I think it is safe to assume it wouldn't have another production run. It came out in mid 2012 (almost 2 years ago). That is pretty standard for the larger D2C sets. I would think it is just selling until they are out in their warehouses. I haven't seen any in multiple LEGO stores I've been to recently.

There have been rumors and reports that what is out there is it, and that it is expected to be gone by the end of the summer for months now. I'll be sad to see it go. This one ranks up there with things like the Death Star as one of the all time best Lego sets ever.

Are you sure this isn't part of their plan to get you to spend $180 on a set? Haven't employees been saying that the Death Star would retire for years and years? I don't see how this would be any different.

The Deathstar is kind of the crown jewel to one of their biggest ongoing themes, and it has sold well long past it's expected lifespan. The Haunted House was more attached to a short one and done theme. It was a happy surprise gift to us from the design team, and I don't think it was intended for much beyond an 18 to 24 month lifespan.

It's always been one of my favourite sets. I'm normally quite specific to certain themes but the minute I saw the HH I knew I'd get it at some point.

I now have Ghostbusters getting ready to enter it!

Sad that the HH is going, but wouldn't it make more sense to keep producing it until october 31st and then stop selling it? :look:

Either way, it's still one of the sets that I want to get so I'll probably try and get it sooner rather than later.

Well, I asked the LEGO store Employee why they didn't have any in stock, as I wanted to pick up another one. He said it has been discontinued and they were not going to get anymore.

So I'm pretty sure they are not going to make another run of them.

I do agree that cost wise. it is a pretty penny. But it is VERY unique and quite beautiful. LEGO knows this and priced it that way.

But is it worth it? YES.

My bet is that, even though it's not a licenced set, that it's going to be pretty insane (price way) on the secondary market. This is why I was letting the community know what I know.

It currently doesn't have the "retiring soon" label on the LEGO Shop@Home website. Wonder how long before that shows up?

I was wondering that myself. I'd like to pay a clearance price for my second Haunted Hause, but I'm not going to chance that it gets sold out. I'm going to use my VIP credit to bring the price down. Then if it does go on a clearance at LEGO Shop@Home, I'll pick up a third!
