BMW Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) To honor the Brickworld 2014 theme: "Candy, Sweet Escapes" is this icon of 1950's American childhood: the Good Humor ice-creme truck and mannequin of the Good Humor man. This model is a minifig scale version of the prototype used in the Doomtown sequence of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Its presence in the film contrasted the horror atomic testing with the innocence of suburban life. The "Bomb Pop" is a Friends lipstick with two small stickers :-) https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.c...ms/14378043594/ Edited June 9, 2014 by BMW Quote
CustomJoe_MD Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) I'm having the strangest craving for radiactive mint and chocolate-chip right now. Wonder where that it came from. Really nice, and great acessories. Can you talk a bit more about how you made the figure (decals stickers??) and where you got the hat. Also those shoes look really good, how did you make those? Any pics of the back? or is it just plain? Edited June 9, 2014 by CustomJoe_MD Quote
BMW Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Can you talk a bit more about how you made the figure (decals stickers??) and where you got the hat. Also those shoes look really good, how did you make those? Any pics of the back? or is it just plain? Thanks. The figure actually stared with an EMT torso: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb409 I rubbed off the logo and shirt. Then I cut black, white, and silver vinyl stickers to represent the bow tie, belts and right pocket. The hat is from the MF series cop but I cut off the shield and then painted the upper portion white. The shoes are just black stickers. I've done quite a few of these so its pretty straight forward now. Quote
KCMatze Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 This is a really nice minifigure. Don't know anything about the Good Humour Man, but this looks really nice, very nice work on the pieces! The hat looks like it could be straigt LEGO, they should do that one! Quote
CustomJoe_MD Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Thanks for the answers BMW, you did a really clean job, I'd never have guessed it was all stickers and ink removal. Nice trick on the hat. A good show of blending official with custom for a superior effect. Very professional. I'd love to see a pad printed version of that, maybe after I make Toht, we can talk about it. Quote
