Island boy Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 This is a post asking what you like about Lego Islanders. What do you do with your sets? Do you collect them or play with them? Maybe you just build them and put them on the shelf. I'd like you to tell me. :-D :-$ :-D :-$ Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 30, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 30, 2007 (edited) I only have 2 islanders. I bought them about 1 week ago, so they are still standing on my desk. Let me ask the same questions to you Islander Boy. What do you do with your Islanders? How many Islanders does a hard-core fan like yourself have in his collection? Edited May 30, 2007 by bonaparte Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 30, 2007 Governor Posted May 30, 2007 Yes Islander Boy, tell us more about yourself. Why do you like Islanders so much? Which Islander sets do you have? Quote
El Bucanero Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I have Enchanted Island, the re-realease. I enjoyed playing with it, but now it's disassembled, lying somewhere in a box. Also added this to the Islanders Topics Index. Mr Tiber Quote
jamtf Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I happen to own a couple Islander sets and some loose parts such as 6278 / 6292 baseplates and some loose Islander minifigs. For me they are nothing more than add-ons and a sub-theme, probably the way Lego intended it to be. The female Islander torso makes an excellent figurehead for a ship by the way. X-D Quote
Athos Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I like the Islanders. I plan on doing a JT story involving them as natives guarding some lost treasure. Beyond that I have no idea what they will be doing. Steve Quote
simonwillems Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 (edited) I really like the Islanders, I have most of the sets (missing the small throne 6236, the 6264 Forbidden Cove and the rare 1788 base) and I am urging to complete the sequence. I own two times the amount of baseplates needed for the Enchanted Island so I am able to make a circular pond with a small island in the middle. The MOC I made using that formula can also be found in the Islander Index Beautiful subtheme that is easy to expand with any Lego collection, all you need is some rocks and palmtrees. Tell us about (and show us!) your Islander MOC's Islander Boy! Edited May 30, 2007 by simonwillems Quote
Norrington Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 (edited) Being a British Imperialist at heart, I must say that if I actully owned any, the woudl be any of the following: 1)Imperial informants, later to be made into slaves 2)Slaves who were previously Imperial informants 3)Native people(s) to be made into slaves 4)Slaves What did you expect from a Britsh Imperialist? Eqaulity? Abolishment of slavery? NEVER!! Edited May 30, 2007 by Norrington Quote
Piranha Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 (edited) The islanders are good for a number of reasons Pirates attempt to bury treasure,Islanders attack and lose Islanders catch a few and sacrifice them to thier gods X-D They are especially fun when the Spanish invade and steal all thier treasure :) A Pirates life for me Piranha Edited May 31, 2007 by Piranha Quote
Wout Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 When I bought my first 2 islander sets in 2002 (for sale in a little belgian toystore) I was very happy with it. It were the little throne (with Kahuka) and the catamaran. The masks were very nice the boats also. The figs were cute and nice and the little flower decolletee (?) with belly button was very cute. the hair pieces wre also new for me. Much parrotsinside. Quote

scippio Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 I've gotta agree with norrington and pirhana on their take of the islanders... or well, just say I do similar things with mine. when i play with my lego they usually end up carring the really heavy gold filled chests or locked up in some jail somewhere for no good reason. indiginous people always got the shaft...lol.... ... or europeans just ruled the world Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 2, 2007 Governor Posted June 2, 2007 Islanders do kinda of remind me of the ancient Hawaiian culture You wouldn't happen to have some pictures depicting ancient Hawaiian culture by any chance? Quote
Piranha Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 You wouldn't happen to have some pictures depicting ancient Hawaiian culture by any chance? What kind of Pics? Like what they wore? The houses they lived in? Well here is a Pic of a weapon I'll see if I can find some more Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 4, 2007 Governor Posted June 4, 2007 Yes, pictures of whatever you can find. So houses, clothing, weaponary, etc are all good. Quote

Norrington Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I'd say that the word is 'teeth', for a guess. As that's what they look like. Quote
Izzy Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 What does that plague next to the weapon say?It looks like "club with shark ???? of kaulia wood, tiger shark teeth and hemp" I can't make out the far word in the first row. i believe the Plaque says "club inlaid with shark teeth" on the top row and "of kaulia wood, tiger shark teeth and hemp" on the bottom row.
