+1 All claims. Absolutely gorgeous build Gabe. Love the colour scheme, the doorways, the action, the snot platform, the gold spiral on the base, and that incredible tree. The roof looks superb with the different shades of red. The touches of colour on the platform are nice too. Another fabulous creation for your portfolio!

I also really like the color scheme. The roof is excellent as well. The tree is cool, I know you have experience with that with all those sweet birds you've built.

I don't know how to improve it, but I wonder if there is some way to cover up the side of the stairs so it doesn't look so "unfinished". No good ideas since it curves.

Thanks Z! Yeah the stairway bugged me a little too but wasn't sure how to improve it - then i had a bit of a brainwave today and started making a few modifications:

I swapped out the Peter look-alike too, my teammates will be pleased to notice!

Still not 100% sure about the railing, but i think changing the staircase to white and grey looks a lot better. What do you reckon Z?

While i'm at it, i may as well post a couple of extra shots:

Here is the furniture from Dr. Rubati's laboratory on the ground floor - it was a bit cramped in there to see properly, so i thought i'd take a separate shot. :classic: The bench is set up with a custom press for extracting plant oils. As the plants are crushed, the oil seeps out of a hole in the base of the table and into the bucket below. Of course, it's a bit tall for Dr. Rubati to operate, so she has a step ladder to reach the crushing mechanism and lever. Safety first!

And a last pic of the shrine broken down to the level of the 1st floor platform, so i could get at the staircase. I had a support ready for the tree in case of collapse, but luckily it didn't need it. :classic:

Excellent work here Gabe, gotta love that roof! Great job on the tree too, +1 UoP credit, for all four!

UoP DoH +1 for all credits.

Thanks Kai and gedren! :classic:

I have no clue whether you have amanita shrooms down under, as it totally looks like it. And I don't mean this as an insult, but as a mere praise. The whole thing has a totally psychadelic feelingt to it, which I think really fits the topic extremely well. Man, you stuff really rocks!

Haha thanks Kabel, it's cool, i've come to terms with the shrine's mushroom-like character. The source material was actually the Blood Elf architecture in World of Warcraft, but i changed a few proportions and simplified a few things along the way, and it ended up completely different to how i imagined it would!

Thanks heaps Robuko! I'm really glad you have enjoyed my build.

I think it is a total improvement! Good work!

I agree with Z, the stairs look great now. Also really like that flower presser!

Cheers for the feedback Z and Kai, and thanks again Z for the prodding me into revising! :classic: I guess i should update the pics in the original post now..

I love the architecture here, it looks elven with a hint of Kaliphlin.

The tree is C-R-A-Z-Y! What connection(s) did you use to get it to stay? It looks really heavy through the top....

I saw on flickr how this thing grows.

At the beginning i was not sure how this would turn out, because of the strange structure.

But it turned out very well. With the round base and the mushroom-like roof it has something very exotic and interesting.

I would take away the dark red and dark orange leaves on the ground, but that's just my opinion.

Brick on!

Oh my, I can't believe I missed this jewel... Gabe, this is just wonderfully done. Such an incredible and unique build, this is truly something special here. I'm not quite sure where to start but that roof to begin with is absolutely gorgeous. I love the tree too but my eye keeps drawing back to the wonderful architecture you crafted here. Just wow! So many great techniques to study here!

Awesome build, Gabe, great job with the roof and that amazing tree :sweet:

It's really impressive how you've made the whole thing round, and the change on the stairs really adds a lot

Great job :classic:

Beautiful build Gabe! I love the colors, and that red roof, and the stairs look great with that curve to them. Very nice tree too! Great build!

This is a real treat for the eyes! But I do agree the changes you made to the stairs really completed the build!

Thanks Hammerhand, Mike, Mass Editor and Garmadon for your kind words and encouragement, it means a lot and i'm really glad you like it!

Cheers mrcp6d! The tree is surprisingly stable, it's a technique i've used in the past as branch supports for bird sculptures. It uses the big clicky ball joints with the 2x2 bricks on either end (what are they called? They came in the "rise of the Sphinx" PQ set, amongst others, but that's the one i remember) You can manipulate the branch around quite a bit to find the angle that works best for you, which is a nice feature of this tree style. The most annoying thing however is finding ways to cover up all those ball joints...

Thanks heaps Legopard! I wasn't sure at certain points as i was building it either, but it's certainly grown on me. I have ditched the dark orange leaves in my revisions now... that was a good call. :classic:

Huh, I would have thought the weight would be too much for those joints. It's clearly not though, color me impressed and thanks for sharing!

No worries! I should mention though - some of the branches' resistance to bending comes not only from the click hinge itself, but also how the joint is covered - on the more acute angles, you can chock them up with covering plates. Just a tip!

On a scale from 1 to 10, I would place this right above flipping awesome! Great build, Gabe - I don't think you should regret the mushroom like appearance as it gives it a very organic look fitting for treehugging elfies.

I am especially impressed about the roundness of the thing, the landscaping and tree, as well as that gorgeous interior.

This is a marvelous build, Gabe :wub_drool: The colors and shape work really well for an elvish building.

That tree is pretty spectacular as well  The only minor complaint I have is that the hole in the platform the stairs lead to isn't quite large enough, it looks like minifigs would have to bend quite a bit to avoid hitting their heads when they come up the stairs. The new version of the staircase looks sweet, you pulled off all the angles flawlessly :classic:

This moc is pure win Gabe.... The roundness of the building loojs great. Best thing for me is the roof... Pure love :)

Aw thanks Begir and Gunman, glad you like it!

Thanks heaps SK for your observant comment! Yes, the staircase does get a little cramped at the top - although the side-on pic on Flickr shows that it isn't quite as bad as it appears from the front. It's only the 4th step down where minifigs have to bend a little, the others are fine. Glad to hear you like the revised version too! :classic:

Fantastic work Gabe! The building reminds me of a Blood Elf shrine from WoW. You've done an excellent job with the round floors, walls, etc. The roof is superb, as are the trees coming up over the back. I love all the details you've added in, like the tasks for each character, the lower doorway, the staircase adornments, the plant press, the drying racks... I always like the use of the white tail pieces along the bottom of the building. Excellent story and build!
