MKJoshA Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Rancor Arms, Dragon Heads, Shields, and Pitchforks. Awesome tree robuko! Couldn't have said it better! This is amazing! Quote
Gideon Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Excellent tree design, so many organic shapes and surprising parts usage you've made there! Well done! Quote
robuko Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 This is probably the tree with the most character I have ever seen built! Great job! Thanks Mike! Half way through the base I realised that what I really wanted was an Ent, but I wanted it to have a less overly benign look than the LoTR style. That tree is the best I have ever seen! The way it grows around the house... Looks almost alive! The roof is also a big yes!! Really glad you like it dG! That roof was very hard until I discovered the echoic pin with ball stop solution. Yes, almost alive.... I'm sure that if something like that tree felt threatened, it would retaliate...... That tree is wild! So many different and completely random pieces used, yet it looks cohesive. Hot stuff! Thanks very much mrcp6d! I have been thinking about tree bark for a while, the best solution for texture seems to be to put small details on top of frames made of bigger parts. DC does this very well, Wow. I'm really fascinated by this tree. Very creative way to use the arms of the Rancor and several other animal-parts to archive such a original organic effect. I'm really pleased that you like it Legopard. Always try new stuff! The dragon horns are Spinlyn's legs so there is a bit of spider there too. Amazing tree! The hut built into the bottom is also superb I like how you placed so many flowers in a big patch Thanks Isaac. I guess you can't see from the photos, the hut is like a hollow wigwam made of technic frame, and the tree sits on top. I'm really happy with that solution because you can have more useful volume in the build. The slightly over saturated flowers are my tribute to CBB. From the first time I saw this, I though "Ent" - its a very lifelike tree. There is a sort of brooding quality about it - as if it would rise and smack you into the next century, if you stomped on a flower! And boy, will that family have some stories to share when they are reunited in Calder! Thanks Bregir, yes the Ent has a kind of ambiguous power to it, it's providing the healing and life to the refuge but it's a bit scary too and you wouldn't want to meet it on a dark night. I didn't really do that consciously, but I think that subconsciously this is how Europeans feel about forests. Wow, that's one great tree. I love all the big parts you included that nobody else finds useful. Good job! Thanks Simon! I ran out of time/ideas as to how to stick the Rancor jaw on there too Cool tree, I like the texture you managed to give it. Nice job! Thanks Torgar, I was pretty happy with the texture in the end. I wish there would be dark green or olive droid arms to make the connection more like ivy or a vine. Hey Robuko awesome parts usage everywhere... simpsons heads, giant arms etc :) Very funny and innovative! Great one.... Thanks Gunman, yeah I love those Simpson sunflowers! Glad you like it! Couldn't have said it better! This is amazing! Thanks MKJoshA, it's always interesting to think laterally about what parts to use. In this case it was actually pretty easy because the colour had to match. So happy that you like it. Excellent tree design, so many organic shapes and surprising parts usage you've made there! Well done! Thanks Gideon! It was a bit of a challenge to fit the roof around the Rancor hand but I thought this is exactly what an opportunistic elf would have tried. I think it was worth the effort. Maxim I Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 That tree technic is just genius!!! Such a nice MOC!!! Quote
Rogue Angel Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I love this tree! The foliage on the 2nd picture looks great - if only there were some way to get that view from all angles. I love the way you've incorporated the Rancor and Hungarian parts and the use of the palm trunks to circle the main trunk. Beautiful! Quote
MassEditor Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Wow Robuko, I can't believe I missed this one! This is an amazing build, that tree is just about beyond words. I love how organic everything looks, especially that rancor arm. So creative and ingenious. A very delightful build and story! Quote
